so wait. why were the birch leaves really cool looking this morning and now they are just normal? this is still a mystery to me and its causing me grief
also if i could make a recommendation, the only two problems i have with the pack other than the birch leaves not being awesome any more are with the GUI, the cursor is distracting and gimpy, and the thing that shows which item is equipped in the quickbar requires too much attention to see which one is selected, especially when using the mouse wheel. its easily fixed by adding either a bright or dark translucent square the same size and shape as the inside of the boxes, which i did but yea, just something to think about

The birch leaves use the same graphic as oak leaves. I attempted to change them using CTM, but as you can see it doesn't work properly. There is no way around this that I can see, so I am just going to make those leaves the same graphic.
The cursor will be changed somehow, and as you can see in my last post, I am completely changing the GUI. Including the hotbar.
I started using this texture pack yesterday for 1.4, with Better Skies installed with MCpatcher, and wow. The skyboxes blew me away. I love the amount of detail in everything.
Two turn-offs though would be;
1: Clouds don't have a custom texture from what I can tell.
2: A few textures (Mostly Netherrack and Clay) have very sharp colors, and appear to be very sharpened. Besides those, the rest of the pack blows me away, and I definitely have a new permanent texture pack!
It's finally done! Watch in 1080p for best quality.
Took a little bit longer than expected because capping these clips at 200+ fps took a toll on my CPU. Minecraft + heavy image processing is a scary thing haha.
I'm sad to see that BetterSkies was not enabled. Night sky galaxies, daytime cloud skyboxes.... it truly makes the texturepack unique for me.
Yeah I'll probably revisit this pack again for a version 2 of CTS. I'm using optifine which doesn't support that feature yet, and the camera mods weren't updated at the time when I finished it, so I was stuck with 1.3.2.

Oh yea, if you are planning on making a sun, keep in mind that 90% of the detail on the sun itself will only be able to be seen when you are submerged in water because there is a filter or something put over the sun in-game that makes it look a lot brighter than its PNG and it seems to lose a lot of the finer detail.

Glad you like it! There has been a discussion about clouds before. Short version: I can't create clouds I'd like without them flickering, but I'm looking into it still. Clay hasn't been remade for the new look of the pack yet, and netherrack has been discussed too, I'm going to add CTM to it and touch it up a bit.

More amazing than I hoped it would be, thanks so much! I've already added it to the top of the OP, and the PMC page.

Yes I have noticed that. You also get to see it clearly when it's rising. I'm not sure how I'll approach it yet, though. Either I'll make it dark enough to see detail but still be fairly bright, or not add that much detail and make it very bright. I'll have to play around with it.
better performance, multicore support, zoom feature, farther render distance, more video/performance options. has most of what mcpatcher has.
I get worse performance (-50fps) and it has too many variables to consider when you're trying to figure out a problem, and also whenever Kahr has a brilliant idea optifine has to go and rip him off!!!

I get +50 or more fps. I get around 80-100 fps on vanilla and it constantly fluxuates in between those two which causes annoying stutters when generating chunks. On optifine I can enable multicore rendering and it completely eliminates stutters and I get 150-200fps.
It also helps when recording since I make minecraft videos. It's terrible to get bad stuttering while trying to play and record. Optifine smooths it out and my mouse doesn't get affected by the fps.
If mcpatcher adds more video/performance support then i'll check it out, but other than that it's not worth it for me.
Only thing I "disagree" with here is that the smooth stone isn't... smooth. >_>
Makes cave diving a bit confusing - Harder to see the contours and the pure shape of the cave when a visible pattern is going through it.
Well first off, it's just stone, not smooth stone. But if you don't like visible patterns then I would suggest turning on CTM in the patcher of your choice to get random textures. My random stone is about 50% "smooth" and 50% cracks on the sides, and 80% smooth on the tops.
Sorry I don't have anything to post today guys. I'm on the east coast so my power has gone out a lot. So assuming I survive Sandy I'll have time to work some more when it's passed.

Well, good luck with the storm and everything, hope it passes without too much drama!

Yes, I had it aligned for the snapshot, then they changed it at the last minute. I'll fix it with the new GUI.

Dear gods, if that works you are a hero. I'll try it today.
