To be honest, I liked the older style more. It felt a bit cartoony, but not too much. I think it's a bit too dark now, too. I'll keep looking forward to updates, maybe It'll grow on me.
A bit overly dark for my taste, but your textures are seamless. Although I do prefer the old dirt. It's almost
trademark to your pack, plus I think that right underneath the side grass your older dirt has better shadowing. It brought out your side grass a little more.
Also I'm not a fan of your tall grass texture. Looks too dark and funky. I took your old wheat texture, tiled it and
increased the brightness.
I'm not worried in the slightest though. The changes look marvelous and after some color changes, mob updates, and tweaks, my satisfaction will be at the maximum.
I could see increase the brightness, or making a lighter version. I thought it would be too dark, but after playing with it I got used to it quickly.
And the customizer is still on the table for alternate textures, such as the dirt. But I won't get to that for a while.
So, any chance of adding a customizer? Or at least an alt sheet with the older stuff?
Don't get me wrong, i love the new stuff, i just like having thousands of alts for everything
I like this pack immensely, however, there are a few issues which detract from the overall quality in my opinion. I'm focusing on what I dislike only to allow possible improvements or new ideas for future releases.
Regular sandstone and smooth sandstone don't seem different enough to warrant using one vs. the other decoratively. Smooth sandstone should seem more like a singular smooth block rather than a no-shaded version of regular standstone, or some other way of making them different:
Glass blocks don't look good tiled:
Snow looks very strange with its circular 'ball' style rather than a smoother look:
Default lava is much better:
Most of the wool blocks are great, but a few seem way off. Because much of the texture pack is not very colorful, having more colorful decorative wool blocks would be a very good way to bring some visual appeal. But some of the blocks (namely orange and yellow) do not live up to their name:
Minor nitpicks:
Endstone looks too similar to stone/cobblestone
The shadow of the sand texture makes large deserts looks unappealing
The style of spruce planks is very different from other wood plank styles. It seems almost as if it was from a different texture pack.
I have enjoyed this pack for a while, and I'm excited to see it updated.
The overall atmosphere of this pack is drool-worthy. It makes me actually want to play minecraft, which is saying something since I haven't really played in months. It's my new favorite pack. Once again, you've managed to make me feel like an untalented bum. Very well done.
Pleasantly dark without being hard to see. Nice balance there.
All the oreblocks are fantastic, espeically the iron, gold, and emerald. I love the almost liquid appearance to the emerald-- I really want to make a Neptune-themed bath house with that now. :3
Wood, cobble, stone brick, slab, and planks all work very nicely togther. At first I didn't think the slightly different shade of the stone brick would look right against the cobble, but it actually creates a nice contrast.
The upgraded oak/pine/birch bark and the new oak leaves are fantastic. Finally some variation in the logs! Love it to pieces.
I think the wheat and the farmland might just be my new favorite textures. The farmland really feels like farmland (which is nice) and the wheat is ridiculously rich and lush.
Long grass just tickles me pink. Can I borrow your pixel art skills?
Really like the upgraded dirt. The original design was unique, but it looked strange anywhere but right underneath grass.
Stone is nicely textured, without feeling as harsh and artificial as the original Derivation stone.
Pine planks are very original, and I love the feel to them. The only thing I'd suggest is a bit of dark shading along the bottom edge to create a feeling of a break between the planks. Right now both the top and bottom edge are highlighted, which is just the tiniest bit awkward.
The kz.png. Didn't think we saw that, did you? I love all the bases in here; they're beautiful enough to serve as artwork on their own. And I want to marry that red flag/banner.
Sand. Love it, love it, love it.
Now for the stuff that needs some work (because this pack is just too fantastic not to point out what could be made fabulous):
Snow. I like the darkness of it, but as another reviewer has stated it's far too round and lumpy. Doesn't look like snow at all. At the moment, I have it switched out with the original snow, which I simply recolored to be darker and less saturated.
Sand. Love it, love it, love it, but the contrast needs to be softened a bit. I love the wind-swept ridges, but in areas of endless repetition (such as deserts) it's just too harsh.
Pine leaves and jungle leaves. Again, I swapped these out for the originals, because I feel you did them just perfect the first time.
Lava. I hate to say it, but this texture seriously needs a redo. When placed next to the wonderfully awesome textures of this pack, it just looks bad.
Gravel. Now this is just personal preference, but I'd like to see a gravel variation that's less dirt and more gravel-- or at least where the gravel is more evenly distributed. I actually like to decorate with gravel (shock, gasp), and at the moment it's too patchy to be aestetically pleasing.
The orange wool needs to be slightly more orange, and the yellow wool needs to be slightly more yellow. Not a lot, just a bit.
I really like the design of both the sandstone and the smooth sandstone, but they're too similar for decorative purposes. Perhaps have the bricks of the smooth sandstone be much larger, with only two rows per block.
And last but not least, add more stuff! Especially tools and mobs. The old wolves look really out of place next to the updated textures.
Really loving the feedback! I'll try to respond to most things but if I don't, know that I still read it and probably agree.
Lava, this is at the TOP of my list, already working on a new one. I also think the flowing water needs a touch up.
Smooth sandstone will be changed, either to 2 large blocks, or 4.
Snow I liked, but it seems unanimous so I will make it smoother.
Glass I never noticed the tiling error, so I will fix that.
Sand I will reduce the contrast some.
Wool, will probably get a few changes, but I like having the black and grey wools to have some hue to them, so that likely will stay,
As for mobs, they will be in the next update. I'll try to get all of them done, but I am prioritizing the worst ones (like wolves) first. At the very least I will recolor the ones I don't get to so they blend better.
Items are another big priority, but that will be time-consuming.
Also I mentioned before I will brighten it up a little bit. For some reason my in-game brightness was at the max so it didn't look so dark, if you're having issues with that then just turn your brightness up. I'll probably increase the saturation a smidgen as well.
Its really insane how much youve improved since you first released derivation; you've easily become the best pixel artist on the forums. You need to teach me how you create so much depth with your textures. Everything just looks so lifelike. Absolutely perfect (to a point), well done!
Edit: Also, I notice you want the bark for the vines to be brown. Well a recommendation is to select the parts you want and adjust the colors to be extremely red. Red+green = brown. Just a lil' tip
Its still not perfect, but I can't deny that most of the new textures are absolutely stunning.
I agree with some of the minor color issues that some people have mentioned, thought I would also like to mention that the soulsand and cauldron textures are the greatest things in the history of the universe.
Can't wait for new water and lava!
Hey Levaunt, I made a texture review for your pack on my channel. It'll be updated shortly, and Ill post the link here when it's done. Would be an honor if you used it on your thread! Thanks,

I have enjoyed this pack for a while, and I'm excited to see it updated.
- I made the smooth sandstone texture as the regular sandstone texture, and altered the smooth sandstone texture to be a singlular block
- Gentle lightening of the sand texture "shadowing"
- Snow is no longer rough.
- Proper black, gray, yellow, and orange wool colors. Yellow is still a little 'off', but it's passable.
- Endstone is now whitish to match the default texture style, and to also better differentiate it from stone/cobblestone.
- Made windows symmetrical. Could use some more improvement with the border.
