I absolutely love the birds. I absolutely love the spruce planks. Only changes I can see that are needed right now are that the command block is missing two pixels in one of the corners, and the food bar icons still have a border that is one pixel too big.
Yes, command block is fixed, and I might redo the icons with the gui, if I have time.
Actually yes. They kinda look like Arakkoa from World of Warcraft
Exactly what I based them off of. But the makeover for them will go in a more human than bird direction. Probably similar to the Rito from wind waker (just the proportions and clothes really, not the cartoony art style).
I guess that wasn't a good example. They will still look nearly the same they do now, just their arms and hands will be human like, and their clothing will as well. And each villager type will wear clothing unique to their proffesion, rather than the recolored cloaks they have now.
Also I don't plan on doing a customizer or alternates, for anything in my pack. It hasn't gone well in the past.
It's found rarely on birch trees replacing one of the log blocks. It's a reference to Weirdwood trees from the fantasy series A Song of Ice and Fire. It's in the CTM sheet.

Edit: While looking at weirwood images I saw a couple of photos of trees which bears had used for clawing. Might be another cool CTM effect. That is if the fact bears aren't in the game wouldn't bug you.

I like the idea, I'll probably do it with some of the other types of wood. I already have some other ideas lined up, including; Random moss on the north face and Tribal carvings under removed bark on oak trees, large knots in pine wood, and creeping vines on jungle wood.
Also I have new on the GUI / next update. It will probably be later than anticipated. Mostly because I have some other work to do, but I also got hung up on the Book gui. I had planned to do something simple, but it quickly escalated to a more elaborate image, so it will take longer.

How much of a hassle would it be to post weekly downloads? So that the wait isn't as excruciating.

Well I'm not really sure what would be in a weekly download. Right now all I'm working on is the GUI, so I'm not going to release a half finished UI. The only other changes are minor fixes at the moment.
I was just wondering, is it OK if I use our texture pack for my custom map? I do need to make a few slight (re texturing cows completely) edits to the pack its self for it to work, do you have any tips on how to keep the stylized feel of the animals and blocks?
Edit: Never mind, I don't need cows retextured, I just need to make villagers look slightly more human/friendly looking.
I love the texture pack, it's got a nice theme to it. I also like how some objects can look slightly different when using the connected textures.
I do have a problem, though. I am using the SimpleOres mod and I don't know how to get the textures to work with that. Can somebody explain it to me please? I tried Googling it already, and couldn't find anything ...

I don't know for sure, but I think you'd just
1. Download the simple ores thingy
2. Unzip simple ores thingy
3. Put unzipped files inside the normal Derivation RPG texture pack zip file folder
4. ta-da

If only ... I tried that, and it didn't seem to work. I also tried adding them into the SimpleOres mod itself, and putting them inside the Minecraft.jar. I have no clue what I'm doing. XD

Make a folder with the same name as the one for textures in the Simple Ores zip folder in the Derivation zip folder, and then copy the textures into the folder you just made.

Hm, I think I did what you said. To be honest, though, I didn't quite understand it. You're talking to a simple person, here! ;P
But I opened the Deriv_SimpleOres.zip (The extra files for the texture pack), and put them in the "armor" folder within the Derivation.zip. I also tried putting them in the Mod .zip itself, and in no particular directory within the Derivation.zip.

I'm not really sure since I've never used that mod, but try to put the mod files in the same location they are in the mod files. >_>

gonna DL the mod and try it out. Will get back to you.
update: ok, can't really try it out since simpleores hasn't updated to 1.4.4 and my minecraft won't run with the 1.4.2 version. but from the addon authors page says you copy the "ores" and "tools" folders into the texture pack .zip (not into any folder) so your texture pack zip should look like this:
