The Weirwood face is great but IMO it could blend a little better with the rest of the bark. Maybe you could add to it some of that wavy bark pattern and work out the upper and lower edge to tile with it?
I might tweak it some. But considering how rare it is I'm not worried about it looking out of place.
Probably not, though I need to play with the color to get it right. I've always wanted red orange leaves on birch, but it's never been possible to edit that before. Thanks to the wonders of MCPatcher/Optifine, it is.

Haha that would be interesting. Right now the weights are 1000 and 1. I wanted to be sure only one would appear per tree.
Don't be so sure, there is already a 0.1% chance to have 4 per tree!
That's not a bad idea, but I've already started CTM for the iron block. Perhaps if I beveled the edges more it could look like it's placed on top of or inside the bricks, rather than being on the same plane?
I'm officially addicted to sticking faces on just about everything now. Keep an eye out in birch forests, very rarely you may come across a Weirwood.
Game of thrones?
Also, is that always the leaf colour, or are they normally green? (I personally like the red, it looks nice)
EDIT: didn't realise you had already answered the question! Looks great anyway.

The face doesn't really tile well with the tree, but I still think it's really cool!
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
"Some may say I'm 10 pounds of crap, but I'd say it's more like 11 and a half..."
I checked out your pack one day after seeing one of your posts in my thread; but I forgot to actually post. I'm downloading it right now to check it all out in person.
I have to say I quite love it(I rarely download packs. I have like... a couple packs in my folder and that's Eld's, Wayuki's and my own). I may not actually play using your pack, but I don't really play Minecraft these days, and when I do I use my own pack, and it's to work on it.
I'm not going to sit and write out a full review, and it wouldn't be a fair one since I just poked around for a few minutes. I really do like your items, though. Things like the watermelon look absolutely delicious. But at the same time consistency is a bit shaky. Things like the dyes have very deep shadows, while the armor icons lack it(and I think they would benefit from a deep dark shadow, as right now they lack contrast). But that's nitpicking.
Your terrain is also quite solid, though it's obviously a bit of the dark and contrasting side. Again consistency is a bit shaky, your technique and skill seems to vary from absolutely great to not so great. For example most of your terrain looks lovely, and not just aesthetically but has great pixel technique and attention. For example when I look at the chained box of your TNT, or the natural stone, or any of the foilage, or red bricks(or the many more I can list) they look GREAT. However on the other end of the spectrum are textures like the top of the crafting table(only the top, specifically), or the top of the cactus, or mycelium, which don't seem to have the same sort of quality. For example the mycelium has a sort of embedded effect, rather than the natural looking technique that the grass has. In the end I'm not judging or even looking negatively at these things; my own pack has the same issue as I worked on it and my skills improved. Many textures were just ugly compared to some of the newer ones. Just thought I'd bring it up.
Oh, and one suggestion(my own personal opinion): I don't like when packs force the "Use the patcher!" thing on water/lava and such. I guess it may stop people from spamming(because they don't read) you that your pack is broken, but at the same time I'm fairly lazy sometimes I just don't care if I play with a higher resolution pack with an unpatched client. Red brick is barely used and I never go to the nether, so I don't encounter a lot of the bugs that comes with an unpatched client, so the game is still pretty playable. However when any water is "USE MCPATCHER" instead of actual water it DOES make it unplayable. However I don't know how many people share this opinion, and I certainly don't wish to unleash a league of noobs spamming your thread that your pack doesn't work because they didn't patch their client, so take that with a grain of salt
All in all, great work You obviously have great pixel technique and skill(do you have any other pixel stuff I can look at other than your texture pack? A portfolio, or gallery?), and as soon as I saw your halfslab pillar I was actually inspired by it and did something similar. The fact that you also have so much(and very large mods, at that) mod support is awesome as well. I will definitely be keeping an eye out for this. Keep it up!

-cut-
Thanks so much for checking it out! The disparity with items and terrain is essentially what you said, they're old textures I haven't gotten around to changing. Or in a few cases I just rushed anyway because people barely use or see them. The armor icons in particular I've had problems getting to look good. Right now they are heavily based off of WoW items, and I would like to change that. Also now that you mention the crafting table, I don't think I've updated that in almost a year!
Recently I have been thinking about changing a lot of colors in the pack. I think another reason for the consistency problem is the fact that I colored most things independently from each other. Everything would blend a lot better if I made a single palette to use. I was thinking of tackling that after updating for 1.4.
As for the Patcher thing, I could probably go without that. I personally haven't had much trouble with people asking about the errors, but I see it a lot in other packs that don't have a FAQ, or something on the terrain. So I figured I would nip it in the bud and just have it. I think the more time the passes, though, the more people will just know to use it. It's so commonplace at this point.

-snip-
Woah, did you just say you might make this pack all based off one palette?
Good luck if that is what you meant, that will be a hell of a lot of work... (more so if you are doing it for pre-existing textures, it might almost be faster to make new ones from scratch IMO)
Updated! I'm going to be taking some new screenshots soon. Until then, here is a lust of all the new stuff:
Textures for all 1.4 stuff except Witches and Anvil GUI.
A huge amount of CTM textures!
New: Cobblestone, Lapis Block, Stone Slab, Dispenser, Redstone Repeater, Netherbrick, Sponge, Saplings, Endstone, Bedrock, All log types, Enchanting Book.
New color for Birch leaves (could need tweaking.)
Potion effect icons.
The reason there isn't a GUI for the anvil/repair is hopefully a good one. I am going to completely remake the GUI, as it is one few things leftover from the old look of the pack. I have a pretty grand idea for it, and it will take a while to make. Be patient, but I will post updates on it as I'm working on it.
Hmm, I never saw this problem with the dirt. It does have CTM, maybe I included one to many tiles, so it's pulling a transparent texture. I'll look into it, thanks!
As for the better glass, it doesn't sound like I can fix that on my end right?
Oh and the potion effects, for anyone interested, are referenced from Guild Wars icons.
EDIT: That was exactly the problem. Must have been some weird luck that I didn't see it when testing the pack. I changed the link to a fixed version, but here it is:
Also, I never realised until today what the better glass patcher feature did.
It's definitely a style preference so I can imagine a split between pack makers that choose not to use it and those that pick it up.
What are your thoughts on it, Levaunt?
I quite like it when it's done properly. Right now my glass is still very square shaped, so it's hard to tell that anything is even happening. I might redesign it at some point.
Hmm. I'm not sure if I'm not understanding the icon right or if something is wrong, but the hatred icon for villagers (ie. when you punch them) looks like a heart to me. They love getting punched, I guess?
I haven't added the new particles yet, because I still have old ones that need reworking (those hearts included). It's showing a heart now because regular minecraft got rid of it and put the angry villager icon in it's place.
I'll fix it for the next update. But hopefully people won't be bothered that much by it in the mean time.
Hey Levaunt, just letting you know that the birch leaves do not work entirely, if you place a birch leaf block down it won't be the same one as on the naturally spawning trees (it will be normal leaves). Also, if you try taking out the log just below where the leaves start, all the leaves turn into the oak ones. Apparently something about the leaves changes when they start to decay or there is a block update near them.
I'm currently trying to fix the issue because I was just trying to make unique birch leaves for my pack but ran into this issue. I'll let you know if I get it figured out!
EDIT: Forgot to say: Great update! Love the new textures and the CTM (especially the long grass, I always find that randomized long grass adds a lot to the atmosphere)
Loving the new textures. The new look for all of the ores is awesome and all the CTM stuff is amazing. There's one thing I'm really sad you changed though. Obsidian. Your old texture was one of my favorite out of the whole pack but you changed it. I loved the cracks in it where you could see lava peeking through before. It looked so awesome, definitely on the Nether portal! Now it looks so dull with its bland faded purple... Not trying to be a jerk, it's just you took out my favorite texture!
Anyway, other then that, I really love everything you've done with this pack. Not to mention making this for all of us to enjoy. Thanks man!
I might tweak it some. But considering how rare it is I'm not worried about it looking out of place.
