So I've been playing around with the foliagecolor.png to make beautiful biome trees. Here's the default for reference:
I figure the top-right half of the png is for birch or pine trees, but I seem to be completely mistaken. What is it used for?

Nope. I edited mine so that it'd be pink as an experiment, and no tree in any biome is pink.
