I remember hearing about kanji ores a while back and basically fell in love with the idea. However I never really found a set of textures that I liked. So I finally made one. This is every ore and bedrock. I added my obsidian texture just because hey, I already have this thread.
EDIT: Added bedrock and updated stuff
The rest of the texture pack there is Xaiwaker with a little other stuff mixed in.
Here's the textures on a transparent background so you can just layer them onto the stone texture of your pack of choice: http://i.imgur.com/Ivhwj.png
These are a handful of obsidian textures I made, because I felt it should have a unique feel. http://i.imgur.com/nyonW.png
I actually use the leftmost one.
I'm also looking for any kind of constructive criticism or advice for how to improve these. I'm not really happy with coal yet and I think it's possible to improve lapis.
Also I'm just going to go ahead and say that I won't take credit or claim ownership of any of these. Anyone who wants to use or improve them can go ahead, whether they ask permission/give credit or not. But if you make them worse I will be very mad.
Quite possibly, more to come.
UPDATE 8/11: uploading a blank 128x painting template with the frames left intact and half as think as they in the default 16 paintings. Why not? Anyone out there who wants HD paintings but otherwise enjoys lower resolution texture packs, or who just wants to use this template for whatever, go nuts.
Yeah, I figured it would match the feel of the "Japanese-style" texture packs pretty well. Honestly I'm surprised that more people haven't made ores like this.
Would you mind if I took the ore textures, put them onto Nagareru stone and made them a separate version of the pack? :biggrin.gif:
Full credit would be given to you!
Bumping with ridiculously minor update. Also to beg constructive criticism from anyone who can offer it. Still not happy with some of these, but in a bit of a rut.
Apologies for the necro-bump, but I just wanted GREATLY thank TC for making this! For reference, it was me that pointed out the original concept from a video I watched ages ago on Nico Nico Douga.
Here are the original textures that I screen-shotted:

Coal is coal.
Iron is iron.
Gold is gold (metal).
Redstone is red (just the color).
Lapis Lazuli is blue (likewise).
Diamond is gem (because it was the only kanji fitting and simple enough to work).
Bedrock is hard (as in hardness, durable, etc).

And the original topic I made:

OFF TOPIC: Regarding your avatar TC, is that sprite of Sakura from Fate/hollow ataraxia? Because I'm 99% sure it didn't exist in Fate/stay night.
Nope... Must contain myself, I'm not gonna troll, this is a relativly nice texture pack.
