I've put together a signature banner for anyone who would like to show their support. Signatures don't give you a lot of room to say much, especially for texture packs, unless you make a large obnoxious signature that will likely be cut off because it's over the size limit and must be scrolled to view. I decided instead to make a couple jokes and let the texture pack speak for itself when people get here.

Credit is given in the archive and can be read upon download. If you're not downloading the pack, then you're likely not interested in reading the credits.
I've asked permission for most of the sources. I say most because I've been working on this texture project for more than a year. A lot of things happen in a year and it's possible I might have missed someone along the way. That being said, unless you're accusing me of using YOUR textures, I suggest you mind your own business. There's enough carbon-copy garbage floating around on these forums. You're wasting your time flaming a person with a legitimate project. I will reiterate, the intention of this pack is to provide a means of seasonal rotation. The actual textures are simply a means of accompanying that goal to have something to show along with the seasonal rotation.
I know how to edit posts. I create new posts when there is relevant news so that the people who are interested will have an easier time keeping up. Thanks for your concern, but again, due to you condescending tone, I suggest you mind your own business.
First, exactly where is the credit you said you had?
Second, you do know it's against the rules to use others' work without permission, right?
Third, there is an edit button. I recommend using it.
to TQuin, GREAT JOB! gonna try this,
ignore this billyTingle lil pony that always bump ALOT of threads!
i always see his/her bumping and spamming threads threatening people or modder whose using a repack or a remix texturepacks.

Thanks for the support! I'm glad you like it.
On the criticism, I'm inclined to agree with you. To have that many posts in not even six months and not be a moderator or person of some substantial status, you'd have to assume there's way too much free time going on there.

Ah, okay. Mind my own business? I would like to note this is a public forum, thus by posting it's anyone who care's business. Telling me to go away is rather rude. I flamed you? Please point out where I was actually rude or insulting. I'm not sure what your last point even means. Try reading the forum rules again; there are no exceptions made--it clearly states not to use others' work without permission, and since I had no way of knowing whether or not you got permission, I was asking before I reported your thread (which is impossible right now anyway) or asked a mod to intervene. I'm genuinely sorry if I offended you, but it really irks me when people show a disregard for the rules.

I... I... just... what? I have no idea what you said. I spam threads? I threaten people? Please explain.
On the criticism, I'm inclined to agree with you. To have that many posts in not even six months and not be a moderator or person of some substantial status, you'd have to assume there's way too much free time going on there.
I do have a lot of free time, actually. I would request, however, that you don't criticize the fact that I post a lot. I find it a bit rude, even if it's really not.
I'd like to genuinely apologize if I've been rude, but I would also ask you don't accuse me of flaming or spamming. I wasn't looking for a name-calling flamewar.
Oh, BTW? The MUST READ sticky has some guidelines on posting texture packs, which you're currently not following.
Mind my own business? I would like to note this is a public forum, thus by posting it's anyone who care's business.

Oh, BTW? The MUST READ sticky has some guidelines on posting texture packs, which you're currently not following.
To mind your own business implies that you shouldn't criticize for criticizing's sake. I wasn't telling you to go away but rather was simply suggesting you hold your tongue if you don't have anything productive to contribute. Your first post was a flame. Your new post is a troll.
As for permission, I've gone through the appropriate channels and have credited the sources in my file. I will not provide email and PM excerpts as this is not required and I don't owe you personally any burden of proof. You can't prove any rule breaking, so you shouldn't be getting so excited, not that there are any rules being broken in the first place where permission and crediting are concerned.
As far as the Must Read is concerned, thank you. I didn't know about the naming convention and am genuinely appreciative of your advice. However, I should point out that the first paragraph of that post says:
"Do not troll, flame, or spam in simple texture pack threads. If you don't like them, don't post. You will be warned otherwise."
You should heed this warning. If you were to simply reword your posts to make them a little more productive and a little less presumptive, we wouldn't be having this discussion. Again, genuine thanks for the useful advice.
Thank you, Demacish. And if everyone else will take a look at the credits file, Demacish was the second responder for testers in the ABNW beta. Thanks for your help, Demacish.

It's finally here! Aww, i'm so happy to see something different from the usual 16x packs.
One thing though, it's May, and it keeps loading me the Winter Holidays pack.

I can understand that. However, I am still awaiting information on just how I flamed and then trolled. Baseless accusations are also against the rules, if you didn't know.
Thank you for doing so. As I said before, I did not know that, and so I asked before I tried reporting or contacting a mod. I really don't understand how it is I that is getting excited, as I have noticed multiple counts of you saying I've flamed and trolled without any evidence, as well as completely ignoring me when I point out how you yourself have been rude.
Also note how that specifically says not to do that in simple packs. I was, to my knowledge, the one who got that in place by PMing CyborgDragon, so don't you try twisting things around. Refraining from trolling and flaming are forum rules, and I don't require to be reminded of them.
Again, I would like to say that I never intended to be rude or hurtful, and I really wish that you hadn't gone on the defensive right away; I asked a set of simple questions and I'm glad that, one way or another, you've answered them. I'm glad you got permission, but I had no way of knowing, so I asked.
Thanks for thanking me for the advice. I'm glad we can be at least somewhat civil. But another word of advice: it's polite to reply to every point someone makes, as not doing so makes it seems as if you're purposefully ignoring them. I'd find you a lot more nice if you didn't ignore a lot of the points I've made, as it's hurtful to me when I'm ignored.
Yeah, I have the exact same problem, and I don't know what to do about it. Please fix this since I'd love for it to work :smile.gif:
Other than that, great work!! Appreciate that it's 16x as well!
I love a good mystery! This is the kind of thing I was trying to sniff out in beta test but it never showed up. I already have an idea where the code snafu might be. What OS are you two running? I'm going to predict it might be Vista. I say this because different versions of Windows handle dates at the command prompt differently and I couldn't find any volunteers to test in Vista. I also haven't been able to figure out yet which versions use what. All I could find said that the format I used is the most predominant.
To fix it, I'll just have to write in a catch-all to interpret the date format prior to reading the month. The code logic currently works like this:
Where system date = MMDDYY set month MM
if month=01, winter season
else if month=02, spring holiday
else if month=03, spring season
else if month=04, spring season
else if month=05, summer season
else if month=06, summer season
else if month=07, summer holiday
else if month=08, summer season
else if month=09, fall season
else if month=10, fall holiday
else if month=11, fall season else winter holiday
There are more efficient ways I could have done this, but I wanted to do it this way specifically to make it easier for people to modify, especially if they were code novices, and it also provides me with a very specific answer if something goes wrong. In that last line where it says else winter holiday, there is one of two possible answers. If it was reading the year, the value would be 11, so you would be stuck on the fall season, but since you're stuck on winter holiday, I know it's reading something else beyond 11. This means that for you, the months will start changing on the first of the month and will rotate until the 12th when you'll get stuck on the winter holiday for the rest of the month. While I'm a fan of Christmas in July, that sort of ruins the point. And it's May. To test this, set your system clock to the 1st and the launcher should change from the winter holiday to the winter season.
In the mean time, while I wait for you guys to respond with your results, I'll go ahead and write the fix so I can update the pack to 1.5.2. I had originally considered writing in the fix to begin with, but had decided to wait and see if it was even going to be an issue. I'm a little busy tonight, but I'll try to get some time put in to it and have the fix ready some time tomorrow morning. I'm really glad you guys like it. Thanks for your support and I appreciate your patience while I get it fixed.

That was actually much more simple than I thought it would be.
REG QUERY "HKCU\Control Panel\International" /v iDate
if %errorlevel%==0 (set month=%date:~4,2%) else if %errorlevel%==1 (set month=%date:~7,2%) else (set month=%date:~9,2%)
At the command prompt level, variable zero is read as DAY MM/DD/YYYY, so date:~4,2 means 4 characters in to get us past DAY_ and then the 2 represents catching the 2 following characters. Variable one is read DAY DD/MM/YYYY, so we go seven characters in and then grab 2. Variable two is the wildcard because the year comes first as in DAY YYYY/MM/DD so it breaks the pattern where before we had 2 delimiters / and / between the month and the day, now we just have one / between the year and the month, so you only go 9 characters in and then grab the following 2. IF statements have always been my favorite.
I've got the executable recompiled and am uploading the new version of the pack now. I should have the link updated in the next 10 minutes. Please let me know if it fails to work and I'll try another approach, though it should work since I tested it in all 3 modes on my own system. Still, you never know.
I've also gone ahead and included the java error fix. If you don't get the error, you won't notice a difference, but I figured it would be best to put out the fire before it started just in case anyone else has the problem and would need a workaround in the future. Of course, if anyone has the problem and would like a fix without this launcher, I have a standalone java error fix that I will gladly distribute.
EDIT: Done!
New download is up and ready to go. Should work fine, but again, test and let me know.
Thanks for handling the issue so fast! I am at work atm, so I cannot test it, but I'll do that as soon as I get home.
And by the way, as I should have added in my first reply, I am on windows 7 64 bit.
Cheers!!
My pleasure! I feel silly that it turned out to be such an easy fix. Interesting that you're on Win7 as most of my beta testers were Win7. It shouldn't be a problem from now on, but to satisfy my curiosity, I'll keep digging and see if I can find more information on instances when those other 2 variables are used by default. If I find anything, I'll post it just to share the wealth of knowledge.
My platform is XP, namely because I've got a bunch of old programs that won't emulate right in 7 yet and I use them too much to make the switch. The unfortunate side effect of this is that I can't promise things will always run as they should. My wife's personal laptop has Win7, but she's got it with her at work today so I'm not able to test on it. However, I do have the parts for another machine build I was going to use for a server and take remote to clients. And I've got a copy of Win7 "not for sale outside of the Middle-East"(eBay) lying around. I was going to resell it, but if I don't have much to do later today.. I'll have to think about that. We'll see.
I downloaded the newest upload of the files, but...
I am sorry to say that the problem still persists. I've tried to set my date back to the 1st of this year, but that just made me unable to connect to minecraft.net
And I am totally clueless when it comes to coding, so I can't really figure this out myself...
What should I do? Or should I say, can u fix this for me? :smile.gif:
Regards,
Ed
Unable to connect.. That's very odd. The launcher only modifies the contents of the /texture packs directory. Of course, it could be.. The Minecraft.exe in the pack is just the same as the one you can download from Minecraft.net, I just included it in the pack because it has to be in the same folder as the launcher for the launcher to automatically execute the game. However, I did implement that java error fix, which I know doesn't impact users one way or another if they don't get the error under XP, but I'll bet it's behaving differently in 7 and that's what's breaking it now. I'll roll back the java fix since I've got a manual fix I can provide instead just in case anyone has that issue, and in fact I can even put it in as an add-in to the pack just in case.
Here's the fix that I'm guessing is breaking the game for you now:
java -Xms640m -jar minecraft.exe
Download this test launcher and give that a shot. Let me know what the results are and don't forget to roll the date around. The second of the month is a good place to try because the spring holiday is candy themed and you'll know right away that it's different. http://minecraft-textures.googlecode.com/files/TestLauncher.exe
Also, run this test and tell me what it outputs for you. We're looking for the number that comes after REG_SZ. It should be a 0, 1, or 2. I'm anticipating a 1, otherwise I'm barking up the wrong tree. I know we're on the right page though. Give that a shot and let me know what you turn up. http://minecraft-textures.googlecode.com/files/iDateTest.bat
Edit: All holidays have a different background whereas the seasons have regular dirt, so that's your quickest indicator.
Thank you. I try my best to stay on top of things. The Norsecraft contribution is actually a single texture used in the Summer Holiday pack. I thought his squids looked an awful lot like kraken(kraken?) and I felt that went well with the "summer vacation/pirate island" theme I was going for. It has been, of course, tastefully modified down to a 16x texture, but since it originally came from the Norsecraft pack, credit was due. We've got to keep the Ts crossed and dot all the lower-case Js no matter how big or small a contribution. Bonus points to you for attention to detail and reading the credits file!
Ye this work did work fine on my comp before fix and in beta test and i'm running Win 7 64 bit
It would be easiest if I could just query the date for the year and say
if date:~4,2==20 (set month=%date:~9,2%) else (set month=%date:~4,2%)
except that we still have the problem of the date and month being swapped, which seems to be the bigger issue, and since the day column also can include 1-12, there's no easy way to test out of it without using some kind of query to call the format. I thought it would be based on iDate (international), but it looks like I must have been mistaken. Looking feverishly for answers now.
Actually, using iDate did work on my system. I tested it inside and out last night and it work even after I changed the format on my machine. Ed, go ahead and try this test launcher when you get a minute and see if reversing out the java "fix" didn't resolve the issue completely. If it doesn't, I'll get my hands on a 7 machine and see what I have to do to cause the format to be changed. If I can reproduce the error you're getting, I can fix it, that is if taking the java line out didn't fix it already. http://minecraft-textures.googlecode.com/files/TestLauncher.exe

We'll see.
Download this test launcher and give that a shot. Let me know what the results are and don't forget to roll the date around. The second of the month is a good place to try because the spring holiday is candy themed and you'll know right away that it's different.

Edit: All holidays have a different background whereas the seasons have regular dirt, so that's your quickest indicator.
you also seem to be very sure about permissions and stuff.
I can't wait for summer holiday. It's so much fun! It's also my wife's birthday month.

It would be easiest if I could just query the date for the year and say except that we still have the problem of the date and month being swapped, which seems to be the bigger issue, and since the day column also can include 1-12, there's no easy way to test out of it without using some kind of query to call the format.
