The pack isn't abandoned, I'll try and get something out soonish. I just don't really play Minecraft anymore so it's hard to work up the motivation to update it.
That's quite understandable. I have a bad habit of starting hobby projects, putting them out there, then losing interest and dropping it. Just know that we all appreciate your work very much!
I'm just going to assume development on this has been abandoned and spend the next four hours crying.
Look a few posts up. He's not abandoning it, but yes development is taking time. If you want the job done let him work.
SMP, thank you. This pack has really made my Minecraft experience more interesting and fun. A lot of people love your pack and that includes me. Please take your time and continue doing what you do.
though he did say it's due to lack of motivation. i've actually updated it myself. made all the new stuff look the same as the rest of the pack. problem is i can't seem to get it working in minecraft. it shows up in the texture pack area but doesn't change anything..
Have you compressed it with 7-zip or a similar program?
Wow, a lot has happened since I last downloaded this texturepack...
The updated individual textures look very nice, kudos on that. However, they have a major impact, as you can see below:

This might be personal preference, but I have little love for the new textures and think that the old ones look better by far, at least they match better with one another
I'm not going to rage and whine about the pack, I fully understand that it's your work and you do with it as you please. I merely want to provide some feedback on the implications of changing it so radically.
I will continue using the old pack (305500) instead and probably remake the new blocks so they fit with the old pack.
In any case, good luck with the pack and thank you for your work.
Yeah, one of the reasons I kept an old pack and just updated it myself. :/ I mean, the new textures aren't horrible, but the old ones are much better IMO. The new ones lack contrast, and just feel out of place with the rest of the pack.
Crap... likelihood of an update now is about 40% I'd say. He doesn't have the motivation to update it and probably doesn't want to color the 6 new blocks that they've just released... I'm going to wait it out and see what happens and hope that he finds the time and energy to update.
Please, SMP, if you read this, a lot of people are looking to you to produce the finest 16x16 pack for Minecraft on the internet. You do a great job at it and hope that this gets updated. This and Quandary are the only two packs that I truly enjoy. Just don't leave this pack unfinished and let it rot at the back of the forums because it doesn't belong there. It belongs at the front page of the forums with 100+ downloads a day. What you have created is a piece of art that makes a video game more interesting and fun. This entire pack is keeps me returning to the forums everyday. For the love of god don't let this die...
I will not go back to Painterly. This pack is so much better than that. Not to mention, the Yogscast chose it as their second default pack for their Yogbox. We need this pack to survive. Though, I suppose some of us could just draw in our own textures while we wait, but I believe we're more interested in how you would do it, since there's now got to be a new glowstone texture as well as other stones (sandstone and stone brick). Not to mention, I am very excited to see how you make the Iron Golem. The testificates were awful until this pack made them into normal folk.
Don't just ask him to update like that and expect it, non of us have a right to ask at the end of the day. What he gives us is done in his own time and when he's motivated enough to do it, the best way to help get this pack updated is to show him how much we appreciate the work he's done so far and that we would love to see the work he may do on it in the future. So please stop and think before posting and at least thank him for the pack and help show him how much it would mean to us if he decided to update the pack in the future.
thank u for the advice i just rly like his textures...
Just throwing in my two cents here - this is my favorite texture pack. It makes the game much more interesting than the original, while maintaining the 16x16 aesthetic. The #1 problem with texture packs (and indeed, most user-created content) is lack of good taste - and you have taste in spades, sir. If you updated this for 1.2.4, it would make a lot of people happy - including myself.
For any of you suffering from SMP withdrawal symptoms, I have created some emergency 1.2.4 textures to tide you over until SMP gets done with whatever he's doing.
