I would say, for a rpg-feeling, get dokucraft
if you want everything to look happy, get jolicraft
if you want something simple and cartoony looking, get frendens texturepack
just google the names and you will find them.
What do you want? Medieval, modern, simple, realistic, futuristic, steam-punk, themed (based around a specific video game, country, holiday, etc.), or non-themed?
For instance, if I recommend some very futuristic pack and you want a medieval pack, I am going to be wasting your time, and we overall will likely be wasted your time until we correctly guess what style of pack you want.
since mcpatcher now lets you switch packs easily, I would suggest trying out a few and decide which ones you like to play with the most. Misa's is an excellent choice btw. I would never be so presumptuous as to proclaim a best.. but there are too many great packs to name.

There's a huge difference between realism (aka making the textures look like real life things) vs detail (aka using detailed shading and coloring techniques, along with other things).
Too many people take one look at a texture and go YEP DATS REALISTIC ALRIGHT, when it's really just more detailed.
I promise you that if you go outside the world is not going to look like John Smith's pack
