I could be wrong about the whole process that is gone through to make these texture packs, but in what im seeing, i am amazed at how people can do this. I mean, when i get a TP i always see the many different colors and then the different SHADES of those colors and i just want to know how you know when to shade, etc. If i made a texture pack, it would be all the regular colors, i wouldn't bother with the shading or any other colored pixels that aren't just the standard. I cannot grasp this concept...
P.S. I am currently looking for 128x128 texture packs... I have looked over 20+ pages on the forums in search of some and have found a couple i like, i would just like to know what you use or what you like a lot

Shading. How to shade?
Make areas darker and lighter appropriately. That's the basics.
There is no shortcut, there's no "How-to", there's just you and the program you use to draw textures.
For me; that would be very hard i honestly don't think i could ever accomplish something like this...
