New new pics! EDIT: THE FOLLOWING PICS ARE A PREVIEW OF WHAT NEW BLOCKS I'VE CHANGED/I AM CURRENTLY STILL MESSING WITH. I WON'T RELEASE THIS VERSION OF THE PACK 'TILL I'VE 'PERFECTED' CERTAIN TEXTURES.
Edit: Can't post all the pics at the moment, you'll have to deal with just the texture pack test track shots.I finally went and took a few pics, actually. Just so you could see the cobble and sandstone and such. Ya know, generic building materials.
Meh, i decided to just use the default gravel 'till i can come up with something.
Yes, the wheatgrass is just a wildgrass texture, but that's because i love wildgrass so much and i think it perfectly fits the feel of not only Minecraft, but the pack too.
A friend of mine is helping me with the tools, so it's slowly going to become our pack and not just mine. For the time being, i used Johnsmith 32x32 tools. I reaaaaally hope he doesn't mind!!!! (Edit: i asked him, but he hasn't responded.)
So, for the past week or so, i've been working on my own texture pack. I started with a painterly terrain.png, got gimp, and progressed. However, although i still like it, i really don't feel much of a point in continuing with creating it, as i can just edit things i don't like in already beautiful texture packs i like. So, i've decided to ask the community whether anyone would want me to continue with this pack. I've only done about, say, 65% of the terrain.png, but i'll upload it anyway.
So, what do you think? Should i continue? Do you like it? Please give me some feedback, i'd love to hear it.
Oh, and i named it S-Pack 'cause i'm egotistical and stuff. Oh, and, may i ask, why doesn't anyone use dropbox for images? It's so freaking easy! >_> WAIT, I THOUGHT OF SOMETHING MORE INVENTIVE! So i was on this SMP server one day and i found a NEUTRAL CREEPER. I named him Skittles. Skittles says hai.

Crap, guess the answer is no. Maybe i'll give it another day. I'd rather make a 32x32 pack, but i figured i'd have to be at least slightly talented at 16x16 first.

I think that this actually looks pretty good. I like the glowstone (I think that's what those lanterns are made of, right?) I'd continue it. Maybe you don't feel like working on it now, but maybe in a week you'll have a random urge to work on a texture pack.

Woops, missed this. Thanks, i'm glad SOMEONE likes it. Lawl. Like i said though, i'd reaaaaally like to do a 32x32 pack kind of RPG styled with Johnsmith-esque elements and stuff. Maybe i'll make it over the summer.

I like parts of your pack, it just seems weird 'cause some of your blocks have a decent amount of detail while others are almost totally flat.
Well, some of them are still Painterly placeholders, like the diamond, gold, and iron blocks. That's really the only reason they're too detailed. This is just a WIP, remember, and i wanted to re-post all the work I've done since I've changed so much in the pack since the last screenshots and terrain.png. It's definitely not finished.

if you hope someone doesnt mind about using his textures, ask them beforehand.
I noticed you're quite active on JohnSmith's texture pack thread, lol. Are you friends with him or something? And yea, i asked him, but i don't know how long it'll take for him to respond.

This is a nice 16 texture pack. The colors flow nicely. It looks smooth too.
Thanks! That was the idea, to make nature look beautiful and smooth and make it tile well, yet make the manmade stuff somewhat advanced and detailed. I'm still trying to find out what i should do with the leaves though! =\
Edit: Oh, by the way, i'm going to be consistently working on this now, since it's summer and easy to do so. However, i'm not going to post each little tiny update, only when i edit a bunch of stuff.
* -Stopped stealing painterly textures and replaced them with defaults.
* -Redid the torch entirely, and gave it more of a wooden and homey feel. (other than the magic blue fire, of course.)
* -Changed the diamond block texture,
* -added a gold block texture,
* -enhanced the sandstone,
* -messed with the wooden planks a little,
* -rounded off the cobblestone,
* -changed the ladder entirely,
* -made the sidesnow more simple and less messy,
* -fixed the obsidian tiling issues,
* -made a weird texture for the reeds,
* -'reset' (replaced with the original) the wood, leaf, brick, tnt, bed, tracks, repeater, mushroom, bedrock, bookshelf, gravel, soulsand, farmland, and crops textures.
Just a little note: I have been consistently working on this pack for a while now. I will update the pack itself but i probably won't post new screenies until i edit a LOT of textures. As well, i probably won't put an updated version of the pack into dropbox if i've only altered one or two textures, as three seconds after that i'll probably tweak five more and it wouldn't have been worth updating it the last time.

So now that i've uploaded the new images, would you like me to just upload that version of the pack now or wait for me to continue changing stuff until i've changed a lot more? Maybe you would like me to change a particular texture until i upload the new version? Tell me if you do.
