I've been searching for minecraft Alpha texture packs, and I haven't really found any luck. I used to use one, but it got ruined around when Beta 1.3 came out, because the sides of the grass were purple. Also, if you didn't know what I meant by "Alpha texture pack", it's pretty much the default texture pack except with brighter leaves and grass :grass:. I just really dislike the different shades of grass for some reason. Anyways, if you know of any that work for beta 1.5, please post a link or information below, you'll get . Thanks.

just edit the grasscolor.png and foliagecolor.png files inside your minecraft.jar to be solid blocks of bright green if you want the best imitation of the old coloring.
Please note that a texture pack cannot do this as there is a bug in minecraft that prevents the loading of these files from the pack. (The HD patcher will fix this bug among the other things it does.) So if you don't use the patcher you have to copy the files in by hand with something like 7-zip.
An alternative is to just paint the grass and side grass textures in the terrain.png to be bright green. This isn't quite as good as the biome colorations will still cause slight variances in the game. For the true alpha look with a uniform solid color you need to alter the biome coloration files like I described above.
Here is hoping that 1.6 fixes the biome (and clock + compas) bugs with texture packs.

Tis far better to be a witty fool than a foolish wit.
I am very sorry for that name calling. I was in a bad mood that day.
