"Do not bump threads to get more replies or reply to older threads that have dropped off unless there is significant new information to add." - Rule on bumping
As the Op of this thread posted an update in the Bump it is classified as 'Ok' and is not breaking the rules.
Thanks, Nex12, I'm sure he just misunderstood. I checked the rules and the thread posting links to make sure as well. The only thing I want to do now is change the title of my post... Do I just delete this one and repost with a new title? That seems like backtracking. =/
I aspire to be a graphic artist, either to texture 3D models like I am here, or to simply create beautiful works of art for everyone to enjoy.
Now, for the artwork this thread is about, I am moving along quite smoothly. I have all the textures for Beta 1.8 finished. I want to finish up with the custom fire texture before posting, however. So, it may be a few days still. =/
I've never done animation before, past that of stop-motion LEGO videos as a kid, so this last texture is definitely an artistic challenge! I pumped to finish it and I can't wait to see how the last texture turns out. If it's horrible, I'll have to clean up a few pixels here and there, of course. =P
Oh, and, also: I will post new screenshots, possibly a banner, and their will include new, more realistic textures for wood planks, leaf blocks, and bookshelves. The cake will now have cherries on top, instead of text, and netherrack will be a dark grey, instead of red (easier to navigate the Nether).
Finally, I will most likely be replacing my 'placeholder' breaking sequence to an official breaking down sequence with my own twist to it.
So, keep checking, and I'm sure this'll all be updated before you know it!
Thanks again, everyone, for your support, comments, and suggestions. As I am new to public display of my work, I take in everything to heart and do my best to learn from it and to develop an even stronger work of art.
Please, sir, this is not just 'another simplecraft', this has class! Just because it's 16x16 doesn't mean it's 'simple'. If you took the time to check it out and saw its full potential, you'd understand that it is completely stand-alone and original. It is both realistic and cartoony. All items are as real as can be, and the terrain is simply made to look less serious and grim than many other texture packs out there. =) Such games as Minecraft have beauty in their simplicity, and to stray away from the core of the game and the standard 16x16 textures would be to ignore its purpose. This game is light, creative, and simply a fun game for anyone and everyone to enjoy. Why not make a texture pack that shows the game in said light? =)
I hope you understand where I am coming from, and know that this is not a 'tile' or 'simple' or even 'smooth' pack; it's fun, it's creative, and it's sincerely fantastic. =) I hope that persuades you some.
I love it! It has a very cartoonish feeling, yet its not over detailed!
Really!? Awesome! I'm so glad to hear that; that just made my day SO much better! :biggrin.gif: And, PLEASE, if you know anyone who'd appreciate this pack, TELL them about it? :biggrin.gif: I'd REALLY appreciate that; I need some help here. :tongue.gif:
Why dont you use Adfly? its quicker and better than Megaupload.
Nice texturepack Btw im going to use it a Looooooooooooong time :biggrin.gif:
I've never heard of Adfly before. I don't mind waiting 60secs to download something. xP Idk, it is kind of odd... You really like the pack, though? That's awesome! :biggrin.gif: If you notice any visual problems or the like, please let me know! The fire is basically the last texture I have to finish. Other than that, I just have to create some awesome ad-type thingy like Painterly, FRENDEN, Dokucraft, Jolicraft, and others have done. :tongue.gif:

Edit: Anyone have any great fire technique suggestions and/or tips? I REALLY wanna get this done, and I've tried 5 ways to do it now and all look horrendous. Help moi por favor? :tongue.gif:
It looks Like something you will see in a adventure game. The wood looks plasticly. But so fat 8/10 Good job
As in the wood in the last screenshot or in-game with the download? That last screen shot was basically my long-lived placeholder that was a simplified version of the default texture. Although, now that you mention it, the new texture is kinda flat looking. 8/10? Thank you very much! :biggrin.gif: My main goal, other than the color palette, was to make this texture pack FUN, and NOT annoying. :tongue.gif: Glad people are finding it appealing. =)
Textures for 1.9 will be coming soon! :biggrin.gif:
I've been working on 1.9pre4 stuff recently, but had a bit of a funny mixup when I had finally finished my terrain file. When I went to save it, I named it "terrain_1.9pre4_edit". Apparently, I saved it under "all files" because it saved as "terrain_1" as a "9pre4_edit" file. xP Long story short, I have to go back and redo all the textures I was working on. As for mobs, dragons are left, and there's a few textures left in the item department. Lastly, I've decided on, and already finished, making the "alternate" font to be that of Gaelic inclination. As for the UI of the brewing stand and spell book, I have yet to finish those as well. However, all will be finished in due time! It won't be long before you'll have LJ's Texture pack in your hands, or in your texture pack folder, rather, and be up to date with everything 1.9pre4!
Thanks again for all the support guys. I know this may not be the hottest texture pack thread on these forums, but I'm still very excited that it's been sighted in the first place. =) If you have any comments or suggestions, please let me know, and I will be updating soon! Thanks, again, everyone.
^ This was before I used MCPatcher and had my video card updated. :tongue.gif: ^
v These are all afterwords. =) v
^ The font I chose was Gaelic. I had to modify their alphabet, however, as they didn't have all 26 letters English does. :tongue.gif: ^
^ Here you can kind of read the Gaelic {eventhough it's unrelated atm}. Note, this was before my GUI for the spell book. ^
^ And that dark red brick is Nether Brick. {Not to be confused with Brick in bottom, left corner.} ^

Curse PremiumEdit: Hey, do you know how I can change the title of my thread? It's formatted weird and I wanted to drop the 'FRENDEN' reference...
