I would like peoples opinion on what they think is the line that defines a Valid Remix/ Alternate Texture Pack? This way we can all try and get on the same page :]
as an example The Original Doku RPG terrain.png Compaired to a newer "Remix/ Alternate "GeruDoku" terrain.png
when dose a Texture Pack stop being a "Copy" "Remix" "Alternate" or a "Complation" and start being its own Stand alone Texture Pack?
and this is just one file out of a texture pack to compair,
I think it's pretty much been agreed upon that GeruDoku is now it's own pack; as it has been a community effort for a long time now, and almost everything has been edited(therefore no longer the original work, and valid)
I'm not trying to waist space, I'm just trying to get a group concensus of how much somthing has to change "or be difrent" for it to be valad to post it on the forums "so we can try and help clear up some of the clutter.
I'm not talkin about GeruDoku, "it's just the only example I have, cus it's the only pack I have invested time in"
EDIT: and where else should have I posted this...in someone elses Thread? it's kinda off topic and I didnt want to take up allot of space with .png's
EDIT: and since allmost all the "Remix" packs that we see are DokuRPG packs is this not a good Example?
it's just that this is already an ongoing discussion on several threads(including a lot of mixes/remixes that are just copypasta or unauthorized) I personally don't see the need for this other than to try to back up your arguments in the poll thread.
Well it's a remix, imo, because it's still based on an existing texture pack, only heavily edited and composed of other textures from different texture packs. But I seriously dislike all these gerudoku things.
Because they just, they're not a continuation of the original pack, they change the colours, change textures that doku did make and all that.
Not that that has too much to do with the topic though.
Well to me that is my topic! that to me is what a "Remix/ Alternate" is, the original art that has been altered to fit someone elses Taste be it through changing all the colours, or using difrent art all together...

A genuine remix that deserves its own recognition:
1) A continuation from a discontinued pack
2) The remixer has the blessing from the original pack artist
3) A credit list available in the remix pack attributing the original artist(s)
4) The remix pack is just as/more than popular than the original discontinued pack because of collaborative efforts from fans of the original.
