I'm kind of a texturepack maker currently I've got a lot of texturepacks under the works as well as Skins
Almost everyday I find myself looking through the texurepack section of this forum and keep on seeing x128 and up texturepacks and each time I find one I think too myself "This HAS to be better than the last" and I'm almost always wrong. Don't misinterpret this I'm not saying textures like Glimmar's steam-punk are bad it's just the "Realistic" ones that **** me off. I thought minecraft was basically a fictional game , not realistic . I mean (sorry if my grammar is wrong) that Minecraft had huge spiders ,zombies, wierd-green-looking-things , and Bow-wielding skeletons come back from the dead for revenge? I personally think these texturepacks ruin the game! Realistic textures aren't very minecraft friendly don't you think so too?
If you beleive this too , please vote yes by simply typing yes in a reply , if not type no and your reason for voting no

1: what poll?
2: this game was made to make it what you want it to be.
3: this didn't need to be a thread since it pushes packs(256x-16x) down off the main page.
Personally I don't like them because they usually don't tile very well, and people make them far too grainy looking, the textures look great up close but once you back up Minecraft can't render them properly and it has this annoying strobing effect that hurts my eyes. Minecraft wasn't designed for HD graphics... I want to see more 128x packs that are smooth cell shaded ones, those display very well
Plus textures 64x and over seem to affect my performance. There are plenty of fantastic 32x packs, that's the best resolution imo
I don't like "realistic" texture packs either, but there are people who like them, and they should be allowed to use them. If you don't like them, ignore them.

The chances of digging straight down into lava increase drastically if you have diamond in your inventory.
Its proven by science.

It's a stylistic choice
