Hey there guys!
Could anyone post any information (video and text tutorials) on how to create texture packs?
I know there are loads of tutorials on how to INSTALL packs, but these clog up my searching and don't let me find actually how to make them.
From what I know, I need to take the pictures of the minecraft textures and edit them pixel-by-pixes for each block/object used. I tried taking an existing texture pack (since it had everything organized), editing it completely to my own custom-made pack, and then putting it to a ZIP file and then trying to install it.
But when I put it in the minecraft pack folder, it showed the default image (and not the image I put for it) in black in white, with no changes what so ever to the game.
I do not understand where I could have messed up, so please help me out here. Any in-depth tutorial will be very much appreciated. Thanks!
Make sure to leave the names the same as they were:
terrain.png stays as the same name
folders for the other stuff stay the same too
gui
also for the things inside folders
gui.png
Did you just right click the folder and zip it up? That could be your problem. The terrain.png needs to be at the root of the zip file, which basically means that when you zip the pack, you need to highlight everything in the folder and zip it, not zip the folder itself.
