Right, so to begin with: not only is this my first texture pack (and by no means am I asking for your mercy) but my first post on these forums altogether. Sorry if I formatted something wrong, etc..
Anyway. Here's something I worked on while my internet was down for a few days, and though it was intended for personal use I decided to post it anyway. So far, I've only edited the terrain.png (and, for the screenshots, deleted the cloud layer.) More changes are coming, and when that happens I'll pack them into a .rar for you. Until then, I give you... CabinCraft (still working on the name).
The most unique feature, and probably the first thing you noticed, is the dark rock. This gives caves a whole new atmosphere: even the area just under the cliff is pitch black. Hopefully, coal is noticeable enough.
Here's the inside of the cabin above. Fire textures are on the way. Not much to say here; the slight tiling issue and green tint in cobblestone will be gone soon. The wood's supposed to feel warm and inviting; meh.
A snow biome. Yup. Sorry for the blurry, featureless picture, but it's all I have to work with. Note the... ice.. and snow.
A desert. No close-ups of a cactus, sadly, but to experience the pack you'd be better off just downloading it anyway. Sand is sandier, snow is crunchier, caves are scarier.
Here's another cabin, complete with iron-lined pool and a golden wheatfield, a rare occurence in the harsh tundra. Shall we head inside?
There's a slightly better view of the bed, as well as your first glimpse of the pine sapling. I find them a lovely piece of decoration: every sapling is a tiny version of the tree it will someday become. Couldn't resist, check them out. Here's the terrain.png:
Actual pumpkins and cake are, I believe, the only things still in need of spriting, except for all the smaller changes I still have to make. I'm not quite satisfied with any of the manmade blocks. For those of you planning to use fancy graphics, I left the biome-compliant grass down there by the redstone. Some changes and future updates:
>>animated blocks and particles should be ready in the next update
>>might do a complete overhaul of the manmade blocks, depending on the response. Or if there is one.
>>animals and paintings will come later. Not sure if I'll draw my own or shrink down some classics.
>>clouds, a sun, and all the rest of that junk. Maybe even a custom GUI.
Anyway, let me know what, if anything, you're into. If this is the worst pack you've seen in your life and I should give up minecraft and learn the harmonica, make sure to post that. I'm open to criticism, and thanks for your time.
>>Edit: Oh, and if someone could tell me what the water and lava in the bottom right are for, I'd appreciate it. Thanks again.
