Information
This is a pack inspired by the art and architecture of the Mesoamerican Civilizations such as the Inca, Mayan, and Aztec. Still very much a work in progress, but I figured I would put some of it out there for your criticism.
Tonatiuh is the sun. He is to whom the Aztecs made their many sacrifices. Pigs are genetically very similar to humans... so that is why you cut their hearts out.
Coyolxauhqui is the inspiration for the moon. She was a goddess who's limbs and head were cut from her body. Her head floats in the sky.
Maize is a central component in the Mesoamerican diets, especially for the Aztec who were themselves vegetarian. Sugar Cane and Sugar have been replaced with Maize and Maize Meal, respectively. Also Crops are now Beans. I may modify the .lang file for those who patch.
Want to do custom Water and Lava, but I have no idea how to go about that. If anybody has any tips and tricks, or knows any tutorials, I would very grateful. For now I just have the five little squares in the terrain.png which will have to do for now.
Alright, I've released a download. Not finished, but I need some extra eyes to look at it. Tell me what sucks, and what I should change, and what does look decent.

I really love the smoke effect in this one, and once you figure out water I think thats going to be simply amazing.
My biggest complaint right now is wood planks, they look way to much like dirt. I think you should do something simliar to what you did with the cobblestone, where they have the manufactured look, but with the spiral pattern as a texturing.
Alright, modified the cobblestone and wood to look more manufactured with a sort of wavy design. The designs also fit together when next to each other, which I thought was kinda cool.

So I have the alt. engraved cobblestone and wood in the terrain png. Edit if you wish. Also I need the world to tell me what to do next because I am an indecisive mollusk. Vote please on what you wish for me to work on, otherwise I will just labor randomly on whatever catches my eye. Thank you all.

Just downloaded the updated wood pattern. When I saw your screenshot, I really didnt like it at all. But upon playing a little bit, I was much more ok with it. It fits the overall feel of the pack very well.
What you should do next is the sun and moon sprites, and what I think you should make are sprites of Mesoamerican gods, sun and moon respectively.
I like the idea and implementation so far. One minor concern/point of criticism is that the tiled smoothstone looks more segmented/unnatural when the borders are not seamless.

That is a disturbing mod. I would be terrified to move more than a meter with that on. I think I'll give it a try.
I noticed the tilling effect of stone as well. Every attempt to fix it has ended up making it worse, or screwed up the the feel. I will keep playing around with that though, and hopefully find something that works.

Other than that, this is an amazing pack though.

Also, you can have a lul for the Bedrock.
The face of the sun is only seen at sun rise and sunset, to collect his sacrifices.
