1) As I have pointed out, this whole texture pack is against the rules. Sorry for telling you that?
2) Insulting me is useless and incredibly rude, as I have pointed out multiple times that this is against the rules.
3) It is easy to ask for permission. Just send a PM, and there you go! You've followed the rules and were rather considerate to boot.
4) I have reported this thread, and I have so far not gotten a notice that my report was dealt with; it's the same for most of my reports in this section. So what am I supposed to do but try to persuade you to follow the rules?
I will probably leave this thread now, as it seems people absolutely hate me. I'm sorry that I've offended your artistic credibility or whatever, but you have to understand that you've stolen and redistributed these textures.
Also, may I ask what qualifies you as an artist? Genuinely curious here.

There's only so much you could do before these kids to catch on.
You said that you were going to leave so please **** off, beacause as you said, everyone here hates you for the fact that you want to close this down because he hasn't gotten a little ****ing PM saying "Yes, you can use this"!
It was in my last post I said I'd probably leave. Now I'm contradicting that, but not before, so I do not understand this at all.
Since you've got the guts to ask what credibility he has as an artist I presume I also get to ask something, what credibility do you have going around posing as an admin, huh? If you don't like a thread keep it to yourself and report it if you have but don't go out with it in the open, that WILL have consequences mate, trust me!
I notice you're taking a lot of offense at what I said, and I'm sorry if I came across as rude, but I was genuinely curious why he classifies himself as an artist. I have not posed as an admin. I'm not sure where you're getting that from. It's not that I don't like the thread, but that the thread is explicitly against the rules and I am attempting to find a better solution than "thread locked, go get permission". What consequences are these? So far the only "consequences" I have received are people yelling at me.
This artist has given credit to the original authors, it doesn't matter how you write it as long as it is directed towards the creators of the packs in question, so don't come with quotes telling us that "He hasn't given them enough credit, I don't like it", because nobody cares!
"Permission must be obtained from the original creator, and due credit must be given, before including any element of that creator's work." The moderators care, obviously.
This guy isn't asking for donations or anything like that and the textures that he uses comes from Glimmar and Doku, GLIMMAR AND DOKU god dammit! They're probably at least in the top 5 on this forum, they would care if he tried to redistribute this as his own and also said that he needed donations but he does neither.
No exceptions are made in the rules, so no exceptions can be made just because they are popular packs. Are you Glimmar or Doku? No? So you have no idea what they care about, right? Yeah.
Now if you want to take this as an insult and report me then do so, I've said what I think and that's final.
I'm going to assume you're being defensively inflammatory here, right? However, I did not report you, as you are stating your opinions, and while the tone of your post seems very angry, you have not actually flamed me.
Are the "kids" in question those like me, or those who are attacking me, LeeroySennholtz?

Most texture packs on this forum tend to be against the forum rules, have you seen the amount of Doku/geru/Otherwise makes/remakes/repacks/compilations? And very Jim bob and his brother is borrowing one of a handfull of original mob/cloud/fire/font/etc textures. Are You going to reprimand everyone else who does this or just the OP?
Report the thread/posts/users all you want, the Moderators will do the right thing, which I believe in this case is live and let live.
On the topic of the artistic nature of the textures. At first I too was skeptical, more of the same, but on closer inspection what I found was not original textures/ideas/whatnot, but time spent on perfecting existing and well loved pixels.
OP, I will dl this pack, why people wont dl because it is not a whole texture pack befuddles me, i will be adding the tex to my own collection
Billy considering that Gerudoku was in fact a compilation with a few edited textures (EXACTLY what this guy is doing) and you see that no mods have done anything. As you can see it is NOT against the rules use something that has been ABANDONED, (Runesmith and Doku's Rpg) you should GTFO.

I heard spades and pickaxes speed up destroying blocks, not sure if it's true though :/
Gerudoku was a compilation, but the original textures from it, Doku's RPG, had been abandoned. On the other hand, this texture pack uses textures from multiple different sources, many of which are still going, and some of which we don't even know.

The thing is, they ask the creators of the other packs before simply taking them.
Also, when people are saying things like" Oh well, many people do this!". They kind of do, but in a totally different way. They use the sprites / textures made by other people and use them as a base for editing or a simply a complete re-do. This guy is not (by what i can see) editing them at all, just mixing and matching a couple together.
While I don't agree with you kind of just taking them, I like the way it looks in-game. :tongue.gif:

But many textures from gerudoku are from other texture packs that aren't abandoned, such as JohnSmith or DustyCraft (ie: The tools and some items).
...Wow, I never knew that. He didn't even get permission, either!
Well, it looks like it's not properly updated anyway, so no use it reporting.
So, you're right. Gerudoku is taken from other texture packs without permission. But now... do you have a point? I doubt anybody tried reporting it, and it's perfectly possible the mods never realized it; they seem to be rather overworked. Not to mention that just because Gerudoku got away with it means it's right--it's still explicitly against the rules, so until the rules actually change, this compilation is still wrong.

EDIT: Billy, thank you for agreeing with me.
Who should he ask permission then? Doku? He will just laugh, Tombones who made/maintained Gerudoku? goodluck getting in touch with him. There are at least 5 new spinoffs from Gerudoku the last week, and the OP has done more for the textures than all of them.
Point is Gerudoku textures are community edited and maintained, and just because he is posting in a new thread and not on the original, now suddenly everyone is all holier than thou.
Dling this texture pack a second time now, (forgot my external in the office LOL)

Rules rules rules, why so bothered by the rules? Lawlessness already spreads rampant on this forum, are you going to take the law into your own hands and crucify every texture pack maker/compiler/recompiler, that is a lot of rule breaking. But go ahead smack your little pink pony stick on their heads, report them all, bump their threads, but tomorrow someone is making a new texture pack probably named FlawlessGeruDokuDiddyKongRemix
. Life is to short, dl the pack and go play minecraft!
If someone took my work and redistributed it in a compilation pack without my permission, I would be very mad and I doubt I'd allow them to continue using my work. Because of that, I can't find it morally right to just ignore those who take others' work. Art is a very important thing, and downgrading it by just doing whatever you want with other people's work just seems terrible to me.
EDIT: Ok, I just took a second look at the OP. Looks like everything there is from the GeruDoku pack, just recolored a bit for better contrast and better looks in my opinion. Bill, lay off. This is all from Gerudoku. Tombones has said that people can use his stuff. Therefore, I retract ALL previous statements. Billy, LAY OFF.

I guess so, but then again, posting and posting on the massive amounts of complications of texture packs isn't going to help, I think.
Rather just, you think something needs to be reported, use that little ! button in the triangle.
...I have reported this.
It's been quite a bit, and my report has still not been dealt with, so I am speaking up. Sorry that you think I've been pointless.
manomow, what I've said here has replied to your post as well.
AloSec, no. This is Flawless Gerudoku's items. This is Gerudoku items. Notice the completely different leather, iron and gold bars, wheat, and feathers?

That feather looks quite a lot like quandary.. actually.

You would clench the muscles under your neck folds, make your eyes pop out a bit and then a shockwave of white-knight justice would reverberate through the internet and remove the texture from their files by the neck-beard powers of internet righteousness!
**** off, this isn't the ****ing Mona Lisa. It isn't a one of a kind piece being defamed, and noone is brought harm through derivative works. Pisssss Offfff
:/ im concerned... also, i think that the least you could do is put the links to the others texture packs, jus saying. and billy, keep up the good work i suppose or something... yeah anyways, goodbye

ANYWAY, I don't recognize the others.
Ah, thanks!
That's kind of you! But this isn't a texture pack. ;P
This is just an items.png that people can place in their other packs such as Doku and Gerudoku.
So I won't be adding a pack.png or text file. :smile.gif:
