Im trying to make my first texture pack with Beta 1.5_01, but it doesnt work! Im pretty frustrated because I spent abut an hour doing the pack to find it doesnt work! Heres what Im talking about:
Thanks guys, my pack now works! :biggrin.gif: But one problem... Or two. The Glass is now white! WTF? and torches have whie blocks around them! WTF X2!? Can someone help me plz? And white as in I CANT SEE!
I believe your using paint (or a program of that type), to properly edit the textures of the original minecraft files you need to use a program that supports transparency - I personally use GIMP!
Make a new image on GIMP, and make sure to make the background be transparent in the options. Then, open your terrain image as a layer, and use select by color to select the white background (or, manually erase it). Then, go into the edit menu, and select "cut." Done!

If you work with layers you can also cut and paste certain blocks out which should be translucent and adjust the opacity of that layer, then merge it all back onto a single layer with transparencies. I haven't used GIMP in a while now or I would give a quick step by step.. I hope you work it out. :3
Awesome! it works! but one prob: when I launch minecraft, it crashes. I dont know why!
The image with the transparency layer is 640x480x256 in a png! how do I fix this? and/or resize the image, without the pink? (The pink is the transparency layer)

I suggest waiting on your texture pack till you get the hang of how to use GIMP, so you won't run into troubles while editing and will probably have a lot more fun while making it. :3

CHECK THIS THREAD for all the info you'll need.
