NOTE: I'm not sure if this should go in texture packs or mods, since the biome color feature is a little glitched, this won't currently work as a texture pack, will work with any texture pack, and must be installed like a mod. Mods please move if this is in the wrong place.

This is my attempt to bring more naturalistic and distinctive colors to the minecraft biomes. I was inspired by Glimmar's biome triangles, but they were a little too radical for the effect I wanted. While trying things out, i discovered that a "pixelized" look was possible, and liked the harmony of imitating the square, low-res style of Minecraft textures at a higher scale.
I'll probably create other biome triangles, first for the leaves, and then for mods that use biome color shifting for other blocks.
Enjoy.
Compatability:
This should work with any version of Minecraft that has biomes. For now, this will work with any and all texture packs, Minecraft currently ignores the the biome color images that might be in a texture pack's folder. However, since it only changes the color, results will vary with different texture packs. I think it should look good with most texture packs.
Installation:
Take this image:
Drop it in the misc folder of your minecraft.jar. It should overwrite a file of the same name.
If you might want to switch back, save a copy of the original grasscolor.png somewhere.
That is all.
Your friendly neighbirhood Kingpin here...
Great work. Your pic is quite lovely. Makes everything look more vibrant and alive. Your pixelated 'happy accident' adds a nice flare that i personally look for . Always on the lookout for more biome triangles to play with. Keep up the great work.
Headhunter: you did see the part where i mention that this will work with any texture pack?
I did - and I understand how to do it - that's why I said I'd plug it in. I'm constantly changing the contents of the custom pack I use - every time I get a new mob skin or environment particles or a terrain tile (I update my terrain.png several times a week lately).
So I'm going to drag and drop it into my archive the next time I'm in there.

Also, if your Minecraft is patched for HD textures, you can put biome colors in with the rest of the textures.
