Yeah, I'm not sure if I like any of them, but I'll keep them and just add them to the alternative color pack when I get around to uploading everything.
And is the door with the window the wooden one, and the one with out a window the iron door?
Correct, the iron door doesn't have a window because it's harder to break.
[edit]
Walls and floor made of Stone Slabs. Fairly easy to make if you have the fuel, and the Cobblestone it takes to make it is super easy to find. Figured this would be the most realistic approach to building a house on Mars. I thought about using Wooden Planks for it, but I think this is better, plus it's fireproof. I haven't decided what I want the Wood and Wooden Planks to look like yet.
I have one alternate for Stone Slabs at the moment, which only makes the floor 1 square per slab, instead of 4 like is shown in the screenshot.
Anyway, any ideas on the Stone Slabs ? Maybe I should dull down the grit ?
[edit]
Dirt, Cobblestone & Moss Stone (and the ores of course) now have brownish variations.
Thanks for the support everyone. I still have a few ideas I need to work on before the next partial release, so I'm not sure when that will be yet. For whatever reason, Stone Slabs don't like to make Chests face the correct way, not sure what I'm going to do about that.
Also, for those that downloaded it haven't commented, if you don't like the pack, please reply to this thread, or even send me a private message. I won't know how to improve the the parts you don't like unless you tell me.
New downloads available for both the texture pack and the alternate files. Links can be found on the original post. Previous version is also available, though I don't know why you'd want it.
■ I added another Stone option(as well as the matching Coal, Redstone, etc. blocks), which I think turned out quite nicely. ■ Cobblestone is now the 'primary' building material since the only time you see it in the natural world is around dungeons. I figured it wouldn't distract too much from the 'natural beauty' of the world. ■ Stone Slabs now have more options as well. ■ I also added Iron, Gold, Diamond and Lapis Lazuli Blocks. I changed the Chest slightly. ■ When you go to The Nether you will now be in a land of raw meat. I've no idea why I chose those colors. I haven't worked on Soul Sand and Glowstone yet though. ■ Chickens are now one-eyed alien birds. All I did was recolor them since I've no idea what to do with them. ■ Gravel is now a gritty maroon color.
Didn't get around to changing Moss Stone to match the new Stone.
If I changed anything else, I can't remember.
I'm still trying to think of ideas for what's left on terrain.png, I've no idea what I want to do with the wools. I might make fake buttons and digital screens out of them.
Well, the problem you seem to be having with this pack is getting grass to work.
Well, why not have grass be the surface layer of really reddish dust that covers Mars's surface? You start out with bare, sort-of-orangish dirt, and the dusty environment covers it with the ever-present dust! (read as, the grass grows)
Maybe make the dirt a little less bright orange and a little more like that?
And I'd reccommend making the rocks, well...rockier! The orange is really mostly a surface layer. Maybe the orangish dirt, but with some rocks in? Like cobblestone, but with the "cracks" thicker and full of Marsdirt.
Actually, you know what might look good for Marsrocks? Something like Red Rock Canyon rocks (google it.)
Also, for sand, maybe some really light brown-orange stuff, like a light reddish tan.
To be honest, I only started this pack on a whim, it's not something I'm really attached to or interested in using it myself, but I'll try to update it soon.

If you have any ideas you're welcome to throw them my way.
@MrEldritch
Thanks for the ideas, MrEldritch. I'll see what I can come up with when I have some more time.
I'm going to cap your castle!
Also, brown water, as requested by legoless.
Looking good so far!

Correct, the iron door doesn't have a window because it's harder to break.

For the dirt itself: Well, Mars isn't super-duper red on the ground. Here's an actual photo: http://robot.gmc.ulaval.ca/images/theme ... t/mars.jpg

I made my own texture pack (and it's ALSO partially finished) and I used photoshop cs3 too! :sleep.gif:
