Continuing from yesterday, here are the improved cloth blocks. I've also re done the colors on them to be more vibrant and less dull.
Next these are what the redesigned metal blocks look like. Also the new Obsidian and glowstone.
If Notch ever adds gems to the game, and they're mined like the current minerals, I'm going to a stone colored version of the new obsidian texture for them.
Finally the new wooden doors, taken from Zelda II. The old wooden door has been recolored as the Iron door.
I guess I'll roll the update out tomorrow. I'm also moving all block alts to my Extra Textures pack, which I will link to in the OP tomorrow.
I decided that making the armor look like Link's clothes was lazy on my part, so I spent this morning re-doing them all.
Later I'll work on the item sprites for them.
Breaks down like this.
Leather = skinned moblin (FYI, cows are now moblins)
Iron and Diamond = Darknut
Gold = Armos
I originally was going to make iron look like the armor guards wear in Zelda II, but it just didn't fit with the others.
I left it in though as an alt in the armor folder, there will also be inventory icons with it. I might also do a alt for the diamond based on Zelda II Darknuts.

Going to tweak the leather helmet a bit, doesn't cover enough of the head, and the area where the eyes were look weird.
The little smoke-puffs, you know, before a monster appears in the overworld there's a little cloud that appears. It would probably fit more.
I'm not quite sure what you are referring to, I don't know if your thinking of a specific mob, maybe you mean the smoke clouds that appear when you KILL a monster?
EDIT: There's no way to make either of these happen either way.

Yeah, that's not going to work, firstly because none of the sites I get my references from have the little cloud graphic that I've ever seen on them, and secondly, I think it's just the game loading the sprite for the enemy. Like it's fading in.
Can't really tell because it goes so fast and the game is REALLY small on the 3DS screen.

I've only made some Fire Emblem skins, and then I played Sonic and Skyrim.
I am going to TRY to work on all of my packs sometime this week.
But Skyrim is REALLY addicting.

What clouds? I've played Zelda 1 and there are no "clouds" that enemies come out of.
