Fallout Texture Pack! by MistaGrinch
War, war never changes.

Note: When Minecraft version 1.6 comes out, I believe you won't need to use the patcher anymore.
Hey guys, this is my x16 Fallout texture pack inspired of course by the Fallout games, mostly Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas. It is still a work in progress, but its almost finished. When finished, I will probably take a small break and then get to work on a x32 version. The first few days this pack was out it wasn't getting much attention, but it is growing in popularity pretty quickly. Be sure to download and comment even if you're not a Fallout player, because I've tried to at least make all the items recognizable to what they actually are in Minecraft. Please comment to let me know you guys want me to continue working on it, because if people stop commenting whats the point. I will continue to add to the post and the texture pack as long as you guys keep downloading and commenting, so check back often. Thanks for checking out my pack! :cool.gif:
Some scenery. Flowers become scrap metal and the world is a wasteland. (with trees :cool.gif: )
What do caves look like with this pack, you ask? there you go. The green stuff is gravel, and it has some cobblestone right above it. The darker looking blocks towards the top is dirt.
My pimpin' home. Left to right: bookshelves, (notice the bobblehead? :cobblestone:) scrap metal, (up to down) furnaces, lapis lazuli block (terminals, thanks JasonShepard for the idea) lightstone, chest (footlocker) jukebox, crafting table, torch, wooden planks and a top-of-the-line bed.
A sunset, seaside minefield that I'm creeping through with my Vault 101 Security Armor. (leather armor, thanks Rhonde for the idea) Note: water will be blue if you don't use the MCPatcher.
My seaside summer home, the brick textures are nearly the same except they are darkened and cleaned up a bit, the glass is broken, and cake isn't around in the wasteland anymore. Now we have Salisbury Steak! :cool.gif:
What the nether looks like.
All the ores. They are still subject to changes, and the lapis will probably be changed soon.
The pip-boy 3000!
All the paintings in one image. Note: NONE of the paintings are original. They were all gotten off of google images, and then I resized them to fit the paintings.
Zombies are now feral ghouls and skeletons are now raiders (they should have chinese assault rifles, but the screenshot was taken before I made it) Thank you Lou Dog for the base textures. The third picture is an enclave eyebot, replacing the ghasts.
Everything in one picture.

How to Download and Use the Patcher:
To get the most out of this texture pack, you should use the MCPatcher. It will make the game feel a LOT more like Fallout. Grass wont be green, (most) trees wont be green, and water wont be blue. Here is a easy tutorial on how to download and use the patcher, and it will also come in handy when downloading similar packs or packs that are anything higher than a x16. This tutorial is only for windows, but the same ideas apply for all.
1. Finding and downloading the patcher
Find this thread on the Texture Packs part of the forum. It will always be one of the first few listed on the first page.
Find those download links on the page. Click on the one relevant to your OS.
When done downloading, right click and press "open containing folder" and then place it wherever you want, and doubleclick on it.
It should automatically find your minecraft.jar, and then press PATCH and then TEST MINECRAFT and choose my texture pack, and thats it!

Looking good so far, but sort of missing the "post-apocalyptic" feel. You should change some of the nature stuff to make it look more withered and dead.

I haven't yet changed the leaves textures or figured out how to make the grass so it isn't green, but I'm working on it. I definitely plan on making it more "post apocalyptic." Thanks for the feedback.
Although nobodys commenting it has a few downloads so I know people are looking at it :tongue.gif: I decided to come out with a quick update because the purple texture for the saplings was really bothering me.
i advise to go to at least 64 bit hd texturing for this, mostly for sake of the bobble head
I think 64 would be a bit much, so for now I'm going to finish 16 and then update for a 32, and then think about a 64 if people are still downloading and want it. I agree with the bobblehead... and making it 32 would also make the paintings and nuka cola machines a lot better. Thanks for the feedback.
I REALLY like where this is going. I have one suggestion, though.
Spiders = Radscorpions.
Thanks for the idea, I can't believe I didn't think of that before.
Also, I'll squeeze some other things into this post. I just finished a few things, and thought it deserved a new version.
Beds and Iron doors! Thanks everyone for commenting. :biggrin.gif: I'm going to edit the post now with some more pics. Be sure to check out the changelog to see what I do with every new version.
Could someone please tell me where in the files the crosshair thing is? I want to make it two green arrows pointing towards the middle like in fallout.

You're pretty good. follow my signature if you want to join a texture pack group. as for the grass, if you want it NOT green, take the top left corner of the terrain.png and change the color to what you want (eliminates the biome grass) and the grass fix too, same colors (under iron block) as for if you WANT it biome colored, just make it greyscale. doing great work though. I suggest making the leather armor like the vault 101 security armor

Thanks, I will definitely make it 101 armor. But your directions kind of confuse me :tongue.gif: Here's my terrain file:
I didn't make it green, but maybe Minecraft considers that tan in grayscale? I dont know.
