Through the process of making one pack, and deep into the second, I've learned so much from the many awesome artists in the MC texture community. Through the process of learning, I have found that I have an abundance of textures and texture files that are either being used in my packs (but people may not use my pack...oh the agony :smile.gif:), or not being used at all. I decided that I would post them for use with what ever project or pleasure you will. These files are the pain in the **** files. The ones people may over look, or just not do because they don't know how do create them (breaking/progress, lava, water animations).
Feel free to use these for what ever you want. A nod my direction is nice.
Always backup any files you want to alter. I am not currently taking requests per say...but might if I see an interesting idea.
Progress/breaking animations:
These are for 32x32 AND 16x16 packs. In total, there are six32x32,and 7 16x16, but if I make more, I will add them. The process in making these is pretty simple. There are ten equal sized files (16x16, 32x32, so on) in a horizontal strip located at the bottom of the terrain.png (the cracks).
You can put anything in each section/frame that you wish. They are animated from left to right covering the whole block (all sides). Keep in mind the background color/layer (try and use the default color otherwise it will be really noticeable when punching blocks). I usually create the "gray/default" layer first, then create a transparent layer on top to make my animation.
To use these, simply open an image editor and copy/paste the file on top of the current animation (like I said, bottom of the terrain.png...you cant miss it) and save. These files don't have any transparencies to worry about, so any editor should do. Make sure they are lined up properly, or you get funky look stuff.
Just toss these into the main directory of your favorite pack. Size of these doesn't seem to matter as much. You can "use" any size, but they do get funky looking depending on what size pack you use them with. I tested them on 16, 32, 64, and 128 9which was the most funky...after 16). As of right now, I only have extras from my Mythos pack. So...green'ish for now. But will be adding different colored lava and portals soon!
*The other lavas and portal for use with Glimmar's - custom made and not included here
*They should be named "custom_lava_still" or "custom_lava_flowing" or "custom_portal" respectively.
Ha ha! When I saw your post on Glimmar's Steampunk I immediately thought you have enough examples and expertise to start an animation library or something similar, and lo and behold here I find it. Wonderful stuff Mr Gestankfaust and this needs to be brought to the attention of more folk, so hopefully back to page 1 for this.
Things like the breaking animation deserve to have a convenient library as there is potential for so many cool ideas.
Wow, I agree with Glimmar :smile.gif:
This is a great idea! I support this 345.6%
Is this going to be something everyone can contribute to? I would be fine donating my custom water and making custom break animations as well!

Great work and great idea, mate!
Thank you sir :smile.gif: I owe a lot to you though. Would never have come outta my shell so much, if it weren't for that first spider or whatever it was I did for your pack

Thanks as usual Sheep. Your support is always awesome.
YES! This can be a community thing. If anyone has something to donate, I'll add it with credit to the OP

I LOVE the breaking animation you show at the end of that video, the glow and fade is beautiful! hehe *blush*
Thank you :smile.gif:
It's the one I use and will prolly join the Cthulhu version for Mythos. Though, no one need worry what is used or not used from here. Like I said, a nod to the creator is appreciated.

I guess people just don't appreciate how useful this could be :sad.gif:
Kinda disappointing...
Maybe you should just create your own stockpile of animations... you never know when they could come in handy! :biggrin.gif:

is it possible I could use the animation that looks like it's dissipating into smoke in my texture pack? I would of course give credit and a link to this page.

It is very possible Sump! (that's why they're here :tongue.gif:)

wait, nvm. I checked ingame, it doesn't really fit the pack overall. Ah well.
When I get back goin, lemme know what you are interested in. Doesn't take long anymore to come up with a few versions for ya.
:biggrin.gif:, if you're interested in trying it, i'm thinking something that looks like a portal or something, or like being sucked into a void through a whirlpool.... not quite sure though, the only real thing i know for sure is it hasta be magic themed, whatever that may mean. oh, and this thread isn't getting as much worshipping as it deserves.
Fun tip for the breaking block animation, did you know you can add color to it?
For an old pack I did (that I'm no longer updating) I had the animation being a smooth transition from solid white (Which highlights/brightens the block in question) to pure red.

New video I did to test the level of transparency in breaking animations.
I had heard that they changed it so that you could have zero transparency....but....

Retired StaffThank you very much!
I updated the OP to fix the videos and added a video for the lava I did for Glimmar. Maybe I'll get to do some new content for 64x resolutions...
