make them a darker green, not really dark, just ehh dark. by the way, as a pack.. its not unique to be simple. as a simple texture pack it seems unique, although good texture packs consist of 100% edited items, blocks, armor, mobs, GUI, and even the Mojang symbol if you want to try it. and most just put a download link, but since yours is the one file you pretty much did it fine.
Also.. you might want to remove the second image you posted, exactly the same

Found out how to edit water! It's under minecraft.jar\misc.

Download the .rar, and follow these steps.
1) Make sure to backup your files.
2) Open up two windows of 7zip/WinRAR (I prefer WinRar)
3) On one, open up minecraft.jar. On the other, open up "Peyton's Beta Pack.rar"
4) Open the folders in "Peyton's Beta Pack.rar" and inject the files therein to the matching folders, and voila.
5) Play Minecraft
6) Enjoy?!?111?!?/1?1

Also, I would like to know how to change the texture of the water. I am brand new to custom packs.
