Hello all! I am K, one of the creators of Spritecraft, a tool that takes any sprite or image and converts it into Minecraft blocks. You can see the official thread here. The tool is released but we need help with some examples.
One of my favorite features of Spritecraft is the ability to use any custom texture pack to generate the output image, even high-res texture packs. Our algorithm dynamically reads the texture pack to compare block colors, so the output always uses the best block relative to the texture pack so you always get something that looks good.
My buddy Tater and I are programmers, but we are not artists. We want to create a gallery of block art on our page showing off the ability to use different texture packs to create cool images different than what you would see from the default texture pack, but we kind of suck at it. I noticed there are a lot of amazing artists in the Texture Pack community and we would love to see what you guys could do using Spritecraft to create art using your unique/unusual/artistic texture packs. Of course for any image we use, we would give credit to the creator and a link to their texture pack.
Using a custom texture pack is only supported in the full version, but if you guys are willing to give us examples we can use for our gallery, we would be more than willing to tell you the top secret way to get Spritecraft Full for free (hint: enter zero :tongue.gif:).
How to import your own texture pack (Has to be unzipped):
Simply click the "Options" button on the upper right and then click "Browse" next to "Texture Pack" to choose a different terrain.png. It's that simple!
Here are some examples of using custom texture packs to render some of my favorite characters of all time:

That applet looks cool, I'll have to try it out some time.
