hey i just downloaded the new updated pack. its awesome but i think the armor icons would look cooler if u make it be the old health icon which was the grey skull guy or the old armor icon which was the grey shield, those look cooler than the new one.
and the new hunger bar is scary it looks like a fetus , make it look more like food ! nvm i got used to the food and it look like shrimp now xD
also the compass in creative mode is always broken like on the creative menu on top right , where it says search items, it doesnt show the compas arrow
and can u texture all the friendly mobs asap cuz i LOVE this pack but then i see default animals so then im like noooo!!!!
and i rly want the diamond armor to be diamond color and the chain armor keeps tricking me into thinkin its emerald armor

-Yeah, I'm also still toying with the armor icon. I may go back to the more classic Doom mask/skull, but I'd have to remake it to be more in line with the pack's current style. Just think of the current one as a placeholder.
-Hunger Icon is a human stomach. I may have to make it more pink for recognizability; The current color is anatomically correct, but most folks aren't used to it.
-Compass thing is odd. It shouldnt have anything to do with the texturepack, as the compass "arrow" doesn't even have a texture, it's hardcoded into the game.
If you're using Optifine, my guess is that it's simply thinning out the line too much to be seen. Not a big thing though.
-Animals... well, I have no idea really. Like the villagers, they're one of the big projects I'll have to do all at once; so I'm putting them off until most of the other major textures are out of the way.
Also like the villagers, it's taking a while to come up with good facial designs that I'd be happy putting the hours of work into creating.
Tell me you want a zombie or rotting corpse, i can have a dozen by the end of the day. Farm animals... well, I'm generally not the type to sit around and draw cows and such...
-Diamond Armor will have a more blue Alternate Texture soon, but the purple is staying as the pack default, as it matches the rest of the diamond tools/weapons.
Long time fan & user, first time poster.
I love all the art that goes into the pack, I wish I had a pc that would allow me to run the 128x, but Zomb does a great job with the lower rez. packs, and I appreciate the effort from both of you so much, I'm using vonDoomCraft as my servers default tp, and so far people are blown away when they see it for the first time.If it is ok ,I'll post some pictures of some of the builds when I have time. I would love to see the rest of the items file, and the villagers, and the other mobs (passive) etc.but I understand about time restraints and such. keep up the awesome work team, every new version is a welcome surprise.

Items are finally on their way, as well as tweaking a lot of the older stuff. Villagers will probably come a little aftr that, as I have a fairly good idea of what I want to do with them (at least their skins. Clothing might be bland for their eventual first release). There are a few smaller textures to do before them though (minecarts and such)
when i get a scanner i plan on making alternate passive mobs if doom agrees. wont be for a few months though

Once you've got it all set up, I'll toss you the few tips and tricks I've come up with; and hopefully you can do some vonDoom-y materials of your own!
I hope I'm not stepping on you toes or anything but I started trying to make a favorite mod of mine work with the pack. The mod adds a black skeleton that carries a Katana(Adds other stuff too but this is the important part) anyway I came up with this just to make the mob fit in
All it is is an overlay of the Wither skeleton faded over the normal skeleton then made darker.I also changed the katana to one of your alts.I will probably put more time into cleaning it up later. Just wanted to show the result to you since it was created to fit in with your pack.
My toes are quite unstepped upon! And cool work! I'd never seen this mod before.
If you ever put a release together (and it doesn't use bits from other packs), let me know and I'd be happy to add it to the OP!
great new stuff in here! I love the pillars and the new HUD... but the best is the new redstone lamp. The animation looks so bad ass!
But I think the dark redstone lamp looks a way better with a slower animation...

Honestly, I thought most people would look at it and go "That doesn't look like a light!", while I was going for some sort of volitile chemical reaction, or nuclear fusion look; you know?
Anywho, great work on the fixed animation! I agree, it does look better!
The only "problem" is the large number of frames. As I've been going along with the pack, I've been figuring out just how much the long animations lag people on mid-spec computers. Quite a bit, as it turns out.
As a result, I'm trying to trim back the number of frames on animated block you'll see a lot of (I need to redo the Soulsand at some point too...). The paintings I think are fine, as people usually don't plaster their homes with the same painting, but there are a lot of builds with lots of lamps.
Anywho, I'm still more focused on quality over optimization at this point, but I'm toying around with a middle-ground as I go along. (And I get away with it by having the foresight to add "beta" to the title despite being as far along as most packs! Huzzah!)
Excellent work though! I'd love to add it to the Alternate Textures download and add you to the Readme credits, if you'd be okay with it!
(By doing so, you would be giving up any legal and monetary rights to the specific edited image)

Like I've always been, I'm amazed with the new update and you were right the new glowstone with the boarder does look amazing... sadly the black background on the gui is why you switched it to purple in the first place... alot of your textures are too dark to have the black gui behind them... Overall majorly in love with the new update love the new food/health bar its flippin sick!!!
After playing around with the black wool background a bit, I didn't have the same problems I did with the dark Iron background; I think because the texture itself was less busy.
If you're still having the same problem with it after playing a little bit, let me know and I'll throw together some new Alternate GUIS. (I believe the others aren't up to date anyways)

Originally, I toyed around with animating the hearts, but people with actual heart conditions tend to have problems when forced to pay attention to something like that; and I don't think the pack is famous enough for mass murder yet.
how much do you love avp (aliens vs predator) ??? i found an awesome mod here check these models, i'm thinking of texturing this mod. at least the predator, the xeno skin looks hard to work out so we'll see http://www.minecraft...ns-vs-predator/

Looks great doom, but how easy is it to tell the sacks of powder apart in-game?
I think it's pretty easy. The words are easily readable ingame, and the colors are easy to diferentiate between. The Creeper Powder for Gunpodwer might take a little to get used to, but no more than any other non default-y item.

thanks Doom. the mod maker is pretty happy i'm doing this so that would be awesome if you do the xeno and anything else you want to do (i'll see if i can get the skin template if he has it because it looks complicated). i've got avp game textures now to make some cool blocks with and am getting textures for predator, alien queen, facehugger, marines, armours etc and will try edit them to fit your pack better. however most of the final touches will need a scanner maybe.

Just wanted to let folks know, Im looking for builders familliar with vD texture pack, the server is designed to be viewed specifically with vD in mind.
Gotta say, that new skeleton is wayyyy better than the old one. And the old one was awesome in itself, so... yeah. The jaw looks like it's going to be awesome.

I'm also touching up some of the other mobs while I'm at it:
I also threw in Elemental Creepers because I was simply having entirely too much messing around with the Creeper colors.
I'd like to also tweak & add randomization for the Spiders, Slimes, and Silverfish. I'm going to try to also have the redone Endermen in for the next release, but that depends on how busy I am the next couple of days.
As for the possible negatives:
- I'm removing the original Creeper and tossing it in as an Alt Texture. It just doesn't fit the pack well enough anymore, plus it was originally based on someone else's fanart. (It was my first MC texture and not originally intended for public release)
- I'm also going to remove all the extra CHAR.PNGs in the pack. They take up a lot of space, while not really providing much. I will be sprucing up the original Doom char though!
Aside from redoing the materials, I want to give it a more mechanical feel; I'd like the players to be wayward Doombots, and not Dr. Doom himself. (As Doom would conquer Minecraftia and have enslaved villagers building Castle Doom within his first week)
Anywho, this should be a fun little Halloweeny update!

Those endermen... holy , those eyes. Not sure I'm that keen on the coloring of the body, but that's just personal taste. And so much color on spiders and silver fish o.o It's glorious.

The pain in the ass thing about the villagers, is that I'm going to have to break down their whole creation to three major projects:
Faces, Bodies, and Clothing.
For each one, I have to make a bunch of randomizations, so I can pick and choose when putting the villagers together.
But now that I've had a bit more practice with all that, I think I can at least get some basic ones done fairly soon and then just continue to tweak them as I go along.
I just hope nobody minds if, for example, there are some villagers with default bodies or somesuch for a little bit.
Anywho, for the faces, if I break down the parts I have to make,I think it's basically:
- underlying skintone/scales
- eyes
- mouth
- gills/fins
If I can make 3 or so of each, I should have enough facial parts for a good number of different looking villagers.
I'm still not sure what to do with the clothing layers though. initially, at least, I'm just going to give most of them basic robes with hidden hands; And randomize how ripped they are.
(The butchers and priests will have their specific bits)
As for the zombie villagers, should I do some sort of edit to one of the existing zombies, giving it a massive head, as a stand-in?
It won't be pretty, but I think it might be funny to carve a big bloody "WIP" on its face.
In the meantime...

maybe give it a shot. the other features support mod eg animations, ctm and random textures so it might work.

Let's see...
Brand new Endermen (with glowing animated eyes),
Redone Skeletons,
Redone Creepers,
and randommobs for damn near everything!
Just a few fixes and tweaks left and I'll hopefully have a release for tomorrow!
I've updated the Endermen color a bit (and may throw in a randommob version with the color saturation turned down)...
And redone the old char.png to be a bit more Doombot-y...
The "mouth" is animated, and I may make the eyes blink or move around or something.
It still needs a lot of work, but it'll do for now.
