Cool! I'm happy that folks seem to be liking the Deep Sea villagers idea.
I'm pretty sure there was a pack around with Cthulhu villagers, so I'm hoping make them stand out a bit.
...also, were you calling me "D" or making a scaredy-face?
Doesn't matter; Just curious.
Hey Emperor Doom, i find that you're faster than how you used to be, do you believe that you're faster and/or better than how you used to be?
I hadn't really noticed.
When I think about it though; If anything, I've probably just figured out how to cut a lot of corners along the way. For instance, I've figured out how to use a number of effects/plugins to add in little skin details. Before this, I had to rely on manually drawing in those thousands of little squiggles that would take hours to convey the roughness of a certain area or such.
So yeah, I can get away with more laziness to better results.
ok here is first beta version of my x256 battlegear texture pack. credit for weapons done so far goes to emperor doom, and credit for the sheilds to nerdboy. as its beta i havent finished the plumes or some weapons. the armour and sheilds are forge compatible (meaning can change 16 colours) http://www.mediafire...r7jn1noj3h0f10q
I'll try post pics later.
btw those villagers will be cool.
regarding my ports ive sent doom a pm, if this is a small release and he does another release in a couple of days, then i will wait. i will post then within 12hrs of big update
on another note EVERYBODY should donate something,i already donated $20, i just put another $20 in his paypal acc., as well as another $100 goin to him in 4 weeks. these are the BEST minecraft textures in existence and its hand drawn, a lot of time and effort goes into every single texture and for that we all owe emperor doom!!
What he said!
In all seriousness though, such generosity is far and few between. I'm aware that these are tough times money-wise, and that a good portion of the community's income comes solely from their parents. While I don't really expect donations, the truth is I'm always hurting for money and my health still goes up and down seemingly daily; So every donation that does come in really helps... and gives that fuzzy "not everyone is ****" feeling we all strive for.
Rambling aside, thank you again dude. And thanks to everyone that's been generous enough to spare some pennies over the last year or so to keep my grand artistic obsession going!
love the new crafting and container gui's ,new gui is looking good so far in menu's.
also i noticed something in the inventory.png what are those weird icons for? there's a bunny, a puking zomie head and some other things, any idea what they are for?
To keep with the theme, I think it'd also be cool to make every Emerald-related thing they throw in somehow Cthulhufied!
The Emerald Ore will probably be boring until i can come up with something better, But I think it'd be pretty cool to make the Emerald into little green Cthulhu coins, and the Emerald Block an almost Jade-looking decorative block with Cthulhu's face featured on it all Aztec-looking.
the tentacles people remind me always the bloodsuckes and the nosethingy of the snorkers from the S.T.A.L.K.E.R games.
will u make the squids the same style? for evolution theories...
Not sure what to do with the squids yet. I may just give them a general squiggly texture (like the Myselium) and throw on a spooky mouth and a load of random eyes; As there's not much shape to define on them.
Villages are exclusively in deserts and plains. Having creatures of the sea into deserts will be really abnormal. But maybe I missed the point. Maybe they will be more "fantastic" than "aquatic".
That had not occurred to me.. Hopefully it'll just mean giving new users a "well that's odd" feeling right after their initial "OMGWHATTHEFUQISTHAT" reaction to happening upon a villager.
Plus, having looked around many online servers, I've noticed that a lot of folks seems to have lured villagers into their cities/towns/etc, which are usually placed around water. Might just make the trek that much more worth it.
(Seriously. someone make a spooky Innsmouth map using the dark planks and stone brick and I'll use the **** out of it for videos and sceens!)
I really like this texture pack! The Zombie's eyes look like they're always looking at you...
They do! I'm actually glad so many people have noticed!
As odd as it may sound, I based the positioning of their iris/pupils off that of a cock-eyed teach I had in high school. No matter where she looked, she could have been talking to anyone and it confused the hell out of us all.
Quick update time!
After getting out of work, I spent the day working on some Battlegear textures with Zomb69. (I'm doing the textures. He's piecing them together, doing edits, and doing the release. Despite it using my textures, it's really more his baby than mine.)
Anyways, I worked a bit on some spears that I think users of the mod are really gonna have fun with.
(Dig the Skeletor Staff Diamond Spear?)
Zomb's gonna use parts from them all to flesh out some of the other weapons. Those he needs more for (battle axe, Mace, etc), I'll be providing pieces for.
The fun part about it is that I'm getting some nice weapons and parts to use for vonDoomCraft Alts and such.
Here's two of the new Maces I finished. The Gold one is going to replace the yellowed cleaver as vDC's default Gold Sword. (how awesome will it be seeing Pigmen running around hell with that?)
The Diamond is an Alt for the Diamond sword.
Feel free to toss them in your vDC now if you want to try them out before the next release!
(NOT permission to include them in your textures packs. Just getting that out there.)
I'm also going to use a number of the new parts to finally redo the rest of the Diamond and Gold tools.
In addition, I think it'd be pretty damn cool to have a normal-colored version of the ram skull as a painting!
This texture pack is amazing, keep up the good work!! Though the incomplete inventory and smelting menus are a little annoying with half of it complete and the other half the default minecraft texture, but i do not know whether it is optifine not working correctly or the texture pack itself just not being complete.
Also is there any upcoming updates for mobs and such?
This texture pack is AMAZING. I will now use it ALL the time.
I'm really excited to see what else you come up with and have put into here!
One question I have though - are some of the images missing? I've installed the latest one you have up and there's no armor or bed and such.. Or are they just not done yet?
If you do have a few 'incomplete' pieces, would it be possible to put a list on the front post of the thread just so people can see at a glance what won't be there yet? That way it'll help stop other silly people like me constantly asking the same questions. XDXD

yes guys this is still in beta, the default textures are placeholders till this pack is finished

Once again, you have outdone yourself (along side with zomb69), don't blame me when i say those textures ARE hot!!!!
You guys are artistic, you are talented, i'm not giving you compliment you guys are awesome!
You could have a bright future!
EDIT: I would really love if you add mod support to Elemental Creepers mod, i think you only have to recolor the creeper textures for such a mod, so consider it, please!
i would say 'ours' but that would sound gay
seriously thou thanks for the help etc...
battlegear mod will be so much better now.. (when i'm done)
No problem, dude. I'm having fun doing weapons.
I haven't toyed with it ingame too much, but it seems like a fun mod. I'm going to have to make some Katana just to dual-wield with Deadpool for screenshots.

Yep, pack's just not done yet.
For the incomplete menues, I just added what I had done at the time and figured that a half default menu was better than an all-default one for the timing being.
As for mobs, they'll all be done eventually. Villagers will probably be done first, followed by the rest of the hostile mobs. I've got some conept drawings of most of them in the "Previews" spoiler in this thread's OP.
I'm not in a rush to do the friendly mobs.

Why thank you! I'm glad you like it so far!
I try to foster a nice little interactive 'community' to make the pack as cool as it can be, so feel free to hang around the thread and drop any ideas you might get, critiques, etc. Same goes for everyone, obviously.
Also, yes, a "to do" list would be a great idea!
Honestly, I've needed to make one for a while but dreaded counting all the actual textures left to do.

Yeah, I think it's working out pretty well! Zomb and I have been sharing PSDs and such through DropBox (which is handy as hell).
I can do some textures for a big mod that I don't use nor really understand the textures for; and don't have to spend the extra time on stuff like the editing, lining stuff up, and the releases.
For my part it feels like the difference between doing a doodle and a time-consuming painting or something. I look at the Skeletor staff and see something that looks neat but I know I'll have to go back and fancy it up before I'd toss it in the texturepack itself say "vDC supports Battlegear". But I'm also aware that to everyone that's not me it's at least one of the coolest weapons ever made for Minecraft; and they're just happy it's available in its current form.
Kinda works out for everyone.
Also, I'll look into the Elemental Creepers mod. So long as it's not too complicated, I could do some edits to the Creepers. Maybe toss some flavor into the individual ones. I'm not sure when I'd be able to work it in though...
I would be happy to do this! I may not be able to draw as well as doom but i can recolour!
...so feel free, Matt!
I'll have to add another quotebox to the Downloads sections just for "unofficial" vDC mod textures.

On another note, I'm taking a look into the minecraft texturepack Customizer right now.
I'd like to be able to use it, but I don't think Customizer is compatible with the animations the pack uses. At least, I'm not seeing it.
If not, I suppose I could just do the plain textures with it and tell people to add the customized textures to their vDC pack... but it seems like a lot of work for little payout. And frankly, there's just many people who won't be able to do that as there are people that can't use PSDs.
I may just be better off going with the old idea of Alt PSDs of the entire Items with the alts layered in their proper places. (Same with other Alts).
No matter what, some manual editing is going to be necessary, at least to remove/add animations, so I'm too worried about it.
I'd have to add them as separate downloads to keep the pack size from ballooning, but I could just add one link to a Dropbox folder with them all.

Yeah too bad that the customizer isn't compatible with the animations and a lot of good mods!
Just to be clear Vondoomcraft is Emperor Doom's work not mine, there is no specific due date for completion but rest assured he works as much as he can.
The battlegear pack i am making with Emperor Dooms alternate weapons and Nerd-boys sheilds.
I take no credit for actual textures i simply rezize the pack for doom and have permission to some files for battlegear. The battlegear pack will be released as 32x, 64x, 128x and 256x as soon as i'm happy/finished.
new preview of mine&blade-battlegear 256x texpack vondoomcraft add-on: (gotta come up with better name )
(ignore white square where plume is meant to be... it is known bug atm)

Probably the most original texture pack out there. I hope that you branch out and create more genres!!
I may just have to quote you if I ever do a "nice quotes" poster.
