Huh. Well it sure sounds cool.
Just a terrible shame HD texture packs get nothing.
I mean, it's understandable in that they require an outside mod...
...but Curse is pretty huge, and they could very well have thrown their own little fake MCPatcher in or given an option or something.
Yeah real shame, you work more than three hours on one texture, and get nothing...
But the people who work less than three hours on a texture pack get everything!
(Excluding the incredible work of the Painterly Pack ofc!)
Why, thanks dude!
Yeah, it's a bit of a shame; but it's expected until they just add HD texture support already.
On another note, it's looking like the next update will bring a nice big GUI overhaul!
I've redone the "background" and menu buttons, and added inventory, and crafting menus so far.
I'm going to try to get the basic menus done (probably not enchanting & potion stand. they need special love) tomorrow; but if I can't finish them all, would you all rather I release what's done or wait the few extra days for everything?

Well IMO it depends. what have you added/updated?
If it's "important" (New blocks/items...) i think a new 1.8.x version should be better for the time being..
But if it's just a minor update to the gui, i don't mind waiting for a full version..
Alright, cool. I'll release them once they're all set. (though, I think I'll do a small release tomorrow with the new Zombie and Menu anyways)
Not sure when they'll be finished by, as they're kind of a pain in the ass. The texturing is pain enough, but I also don't have any real concepts for them yet; So I'm coming up with each on the fly.
Seems to be working okay so far. (though I'll probably have to go back in and fancy these all up later down the road)
On a related matter, I think I will have filled the entire community's skull quota by the time they're done.
I swear, I lucked out in that those two skulls (which were originally years old doodles in some school notebook) turned out to damn useful.
of cause it needs finishing but realze this is still beta so you will need patience. he works on it as much as possible but he does work and other priorities i'm sure.... and besides, for the very best textures (handdrawn or not) i'm sure we can wait.. its better to let doom do it in his own time, that way the textures will be better and worth waiting for
Hey urruh'body! just popping in real quick to pose a question regarding a thought I just had.
So I've been playing online again lately, thanks to the zombie horde mode in the New Liberty server; I've noticed that on larger servers, there are loads of people with the default char.png Steve skins.
Should I throw in my non-mob-looking HD Skins as randomobs for the Char.png?
If I do, everyone using the default will show up as random super hero HD skins. (plus the shitty HD Steve)
Also, If I was to do this, I think it'd probably be a good idea to shrink their textures down a bit. The original Dr. Doom Char.png was half the size of the mobs until recently, and I no one seems to have had a problem with it.

This week's release is a relatively small update that should start to bring a bit more character to minecraft!
The new release includes:
- Updated Menu GUI & background
- New Crafting & Chest menus!
- Added the new "player inventory" sub-menu to the rest of the unfinished menus.
- New Randomobs Zombie based on Ben Templesmith's "Wormwood: Gentleman Corpse"!
I've also added the new player skins & zombie to the "HD Mobs" download!
I'll be trying to finish up the rest of the menus for the next big release.
In the meantime, enjoy!
So, I've been thinking about the villagers lately... I've really want to do something lovecraftian with them for a while now, but didn't put much thought into it.
Last night I came up with some concepts that I think will end up becoming the villagers.
Basically, they're all based off actual deep sea fish!
Most of them will cycle between the 3 or 4 faces I make (with plenty of Randomobs support) with different skin tones/"Abe Sapien"-like-stripes.
As for the clothes, I think I can manage to get in a lot of variations while only making basically 4 pieces of clothing: basic crappy peasant clothing, crappy robe, hood, and apron.
Farmer- Basic brown clothes. Different clothing rips & faces for variants.
Librarian- Same as above, but violet clothes and little spectacles.
Priest- Hooded figures in robes. these guys have shadowed faces, except for tentacles hanging down.
Butcher- Possibly shirtless with white apron. Covered in blood.
Blacksmith- Most likely will be shirtless, with black welding apron and some sort of black mask.
And I'm pretty sure I can use the nose to make a neat looking Angler Fish lure.
To keep with the theme, I think it'd also be cool to make every Emerald-related thing they throw in somehow Cthulhufied!
The Emerald Ore will probably be boring until i can come up with something better, But I think it'd be pretty cool to make the Emerald into little green Cthulhu coins, and the Emerald Block an almost Jade-looking decorative block with Cthulhu's face featured on it all Aztec-looking.
Toss one above the doorways of every villagehouse and you've got a pretty awesome little MC Innsmouth or such!

You're too creative for this world, we have to put you down...
EDIT: OFFTOPIC: I like the quotes in the op, are they real quotes?

Yes. Do that. The steve skin is lame.

Comments? Opinions?
I like the face with the full body on the left, and the one that's just a pair of eyes on the right as well
Love it D: <3
