He's actually on the list of HD skins I've wanted to make for a while. Unfortunately, it looks like it's probably going to be months before I get back into the HD skinning thing full-on; as most of my effort goes into this texturepack at the moment.
I'd recommend hitting up someone on the HDMinecraftSkins forums about the Boba Fett. I know a couple other big time HD skinners there have made a number of Star Wars themed ones; Just not sure if there's a Fett in there yet.
man i love sunrise/sunset!!
finally worked out how to make redstone lamp dance floor entire floor able to controll every single lamp. had to start at bottom in middle its taking a lot of time to make but it will be awesome. trick is two layers of lamps at top. it will be 16x16 square. and then i have to program it!
Man, I love that Bender head!
And yeah, gotta love the the total of like 40 seconds in which you can actually see the details of the sun... I wonder how many people have actually realized that it's not just a photo, and is actually textured kind of like the lava.
OH! Speaking of the sun, have you noticed the corona animation yet?
It appears that the newest version of Optifine actually allows you to see it without getting close enough to melt your face off.
(It appears that custom animations only appeared once they were within a certain radius of the player. I'm not sure if he fixed it for all of them or just the sun/moon)
OOF! If that's the amount of work that goes into something as relatively simple as a floor, I'm glad I never messed around too much with Redstone.
Seriously though, that looks very neat! Please keep me up to date on it if you can; I'm intrigued by the possibility of making a Minecraft Studio 54 and somehow working Dazzler into it.
Can't wait to see what you do with it!
I'm not trying to be a nuisance here, but would you mind making a 128x only version? I am a huge fan of your work, but the lag from the 256x items & sun (Or was it something else?) is making this texture pack nearly unbearable to play Minecraft with.
You can take your time if you want, or not do it at all. I accept that you cannot satisfy everyone.
No nuisance at all, dude.
Out of curiosity, are you using Optifine or MCPatcher? If Optifine, which version?
I want to write up a basic "for best results, use vDC with... etc etc" but need some basic feedback from folks.
Unfortunately, logistics wise, I won't be able to keep updating vDC and include 128x versions of the larger textures yet.
The largest textures in the pack happen to be the same one that 1) have the most animation files 2) Are constantly being changed the most.
Until both the pack is close enough to being finished that I can start shrinking down the individual textures one by one for a 64x version, it would just be entirely too much work each release.
Although, when it comes time for the 64x version I think I'll include 128x items/paintings/etc; So one could take the textures from that.
You know what? Maybe I should ask around and see if there'd be anyone willing to help out officially with all the relatively small resize and alt-texture-swap requests as they're asked.
Give 'em some cool Doom-themed official titles in the credits. Add a list/links of the edits to the OP. Could be cool.
hey doom. how about "let's paint an appel, a watermelon, a steak, ...."
and for the red flower... maybe u could paint a rose with big thick thorns?
I've been meaning to get the food items, but had some major terrain bits to get done first... Also, I have no idea how to draw a lamb chop that doesn't look like a big white dog turd. Lamb is a boring looking gray meat, and none of the major cuts have any distinctive bones or shapes. Bleh.
The rest of the foods I have have doodled out though.
I could also use some ideas for the pork. I could do a big "Easter ham" type deal, Strips of bacon, or possibly a dismembered swirly pig tail!
I already know I want to do a dismembered zombie hand for the Zombie Meat (why everyone actually draws it as meat, I'll never know)! Just have to do the fingers so that they won't look like ass at 256x256
As for the Rose, that's a good idea!
The current flowers are a little understylized for my taste, but they needed to be done for playability.
I do want to do a few more flower types and throw them in there as random textures (a mod I thus far know nothing about), along with some some different grass and tall grasses.
I use Optifine B1 HD MTI (Or whatever it's called, basically multicore because my laptop has two cores, so I can load chunks faster) I use animations, because I don't notice an FPS difference between animations and no animations, and choice number one is better. I have a fairly slow laptop, 2 GB RAM, so I mostly play minecraft on low settings, or the lowest possible settings. I honestly think Optifine is better than MCpatcher, mostly because I would normally have 0-2 FPS on a 128x texture pack without a lag reduction mod of some type. MCpatcher has more options, but I still don't use it.
Hope this helped!
Hmmmm... if you're up for a little fiddling around, I've got a couple thing you can try.
Firstly, try giving Magic Launcher a go, if you don't already use it. Basically, it replaces the Minecraft.exe launcher and allows you to very easily swap mods/jars and, more importantly, double the amount of RAM given to minecraft.
With ML's easy mod switching in mind, I'd also try out "B2 HD Smooth". For me at least, the smooth versions are the only ones to give any FPS increase.
Keep in mind, I'm no expert on increasing MC's FPS, and these are basically the only steps I have at the moment; so hopefully they help at least a little.
------
On another note, I just saw the snapshot update... Anyone gonna throw a hissy fit if I make the Emerald Ore green?
Because I don't really remember many red cities in the Wizard of Oz...
I'll try and throw together a snapshot compatible version soon; but I think I may just take the opportunity to try and redo the Stone while I have to make the new Ore. I think the "emerald ore" item would make for a cool green coin too, don't you think?
So I may just wait on it and make it into a proper release... any opinions?

this arvo i will start do this for you.
Doom, i can do this and 64x starting this arvo... i just resized the diamond sword and it seems to be ok even at 64x so i will keep you posted. not sure yet about the animations thou i have limited experience with animations, so i'll see how it goes

The Ore is spouse to be green but it was originally red. Also loving the update.
Well, I do actually use the magic launcher, I have allocated 1028 of my 2GB RAM to it. It still lags, but if I have the default texture pack on tiny, it give me 45 FPS. That's all okay, but throw in a 128x texture pack (Which I use alot) Then it's 20-30. Add a few 256x bits to that pack, I get under 10 FPS half of the time, and 17 ish if i'm lucky.
(Keeping in mind I use a relatively old laptop, and do not have enough money to buy a better one. Mainly bacause i'm twelve...)
If you are using a low end laptop you can try out buying more ram, this is if your laptop got a extra ram slot.
btw posting your system specs my help out, you may have anuff ram to run the pack, but if your processor or Graphic card cant run the game well anuff there's nothing you can do besides getting a new laptop
ONLY 128x textures (tested: i think the sword animation is broke the rest seem to work) there really wasnt that much that needed to be changed and i didnt change title screen. also the sun and moon are correct resolution for 128x according to sphax pack.( but i realize now they are wrong cant fix till this arvo)
ok and here is the 64x port i did my best with animations (sorry i have basically no experience with animations yet) and to preserve as much detail as possible - it does look quite good
if any problems please let me know. i didnt change title menu or minimap or mobs as they dont seem to matter, if it needs to be done let me know.
Doom if you want you can put these up with your adfly links then i can remove this.
HUH! Yeah, those turned out much better than I though it would at 64x.
Thanks so much, zomb! I'm sure a bunch of people are going to be very happy now!
I've added the lower res version to the thread's OP.
Also, sorry for the lack of responses. I'll hit up the rest of the comments here in a bit.
I'm having a sick, headachey, can't-stare-at-the-screen-too-long weekend.
not a problem. i may see if some things can go even lower without destroying it e.g. 32x terrain seems ok if thats what someone really needs.
also the only thing i got wrong(i hope) is the sword animation (the rest work).
i feel like i missed something with the 128xflat only (maybe not)... please tell me if i have.

Edit: System specs: Celeron® Dual core CPU T3500 @ 2.10 GHz 2.09GHz(64-bit operating system) I have no idea what halp of that means, so I just posted everything I seen on the system part of the control panel.
Hmm. Well, I think I'm pretty much out of advice for this one, aside from possibly trying out the new lower resolution versions Zomb69 was gracious enough to provide!
If neither of those work for you, I believe MisterOdd may be correct; in that it's simply not possible with the current hardware.
Either way, please let us know if either of them run better for you!
Thanks for a awsome update! my game is starting to look better every weekend!
No problem, dude! Glad you're enjoying vonDoomCraft!
I do TRY for every weekend, but lately it's been happening bi-weekly. I hope folks don't mind too much (I'm not sure how often most other large packs update); but I'd rather have a nice big update every two weeks than a crappy small one every week; you know?
Plus, my work schedule is apparently completely randomized until my bosses can pull their heads out of their asses (which I don't see happening any time soon), so it's very difficult at the moment to really have any sort of update worth adding each week.
not a problem. i may see if some things can go even lower without destroying it e.g. 32x terrain seems ok if thats what someone really needs.

I don't think anyone would see the sword animations not working as a huge problem. I mean, it's kind of a fill-in for what's already a WIP; so I can't imagine anyone actually having the nerve to complain about it...
...oh wait, this is the internet... well, **** them if they do.
In all seriousness though, thanks again!
On a slightly different note, has anyone happened to see any big news/videos/whatever about vDC lately? There's been a huge surge in the downloads the last couple days and I cannot, for the life of me, figure out why.

Uhm I didn't find anything though I found this, http://www.olgh.net/...pack-beta-v1-5/
Not sure if it could be like a review thing or someone trying to steal your pack.
Also I remember awhile back (like early this week) SSohpkc used you're pack in one of his videos.

Found the series hes using it in,
Looks like the first one is actually one of the 50+ websites that steals their content from MinecraftDL.
I don't mind those sites, I just wish they'd either link to this thread or update their goddamned links once in a while. I'm tired of having more download for vDC 1.5 than whichever is current, every release.
Second link looks like it might have helped a bit!
Though, I believe it may be at least partially due to Minecraft-France re-adding vDC to their frontpage.
Folks may be surprised but I get more French downloads than every country combined (Except for America, whose DL numbers are just above France's).
Also zomb would a 128x Gui and items affect lag too much? Cause the Gui looks shitty in 64x. Still thanks for the 64x
I believe the Items may. GUI really shouldn't effect that much.
Luckily, these ones are both easy to swap if you wanted to mess around and see which works best for you.
All the necessary textures are in the "gui" folder in vDC.
So if you want to try swapping between a couple resolutions, you only need to touch these ones:
- items.png (self explanitory)
- gui.png & icons.png (these both handle the GUI stuff. Gotta swap both or none. Not just one.)
1st: install optifine
2nd: try to reduce animations (water, lava, rain)
3rd: use the option to get more fps,/ reduce quality (the pack will look still awesome)
u should try fullscreen mod (press F11) sometimes it helps to save RAM
where are many options with optifine to tune ur performance, also try to disable ctm
maybe to many mods? some mods need a lot of CPU (like millenaire)
As always, thanks for the comments and kind words!
