Ok, one more quick update.
Spawners and Iron Bars:
So far it's looking like tomorrow's release is going to be a fairly small one.
I've got glass, IB, and Spawners done. I've also fixed the leaf problem and tweaked cobble's seams.
As for items, Mjolnir's back and the unanimated Chainsaw is in. Honestly, the chainsaw may seem a bit lame until it is animated, so this will be the first release with Alt textures you can add in yourself. I've also made bloody/non-bloody sword Alts, and Iron & Gold version of the Skeletor sword, for the hell of it.
So, a few tweaks, some much needed terrain bits, a couple items, and about a dozen alt textures. Not too bad...?
Again, sorry I didn't have much time to work on these this week. I've taken May 4th-11th off specifically to work on the pack though! So expect big things as soon as my brain un-melts after seeing the Avengers movie!
EDIT--
Also, I've been thinking about the decorative blocks (iron, diamond, lapis, & gold) a bit.
-I'm pretty sure I can get away with brightening and editing the blank side of the furnace to work as Iron blocks; at least until i have something better.
- Diamond i still have no idea.
-Lapis... I could just make is into small square tiles. It seems to be one of those blocks only used in certain situations.
-Gold. Lament Configuration. It might look a bit dopey not having each individual side look different, but who wouldn't want a Hellraiser puzzle box block?
spawner, bars and chainsaw all look great. the bars i really like cause they have more of a 'jail feel' to them.
i'd prefer alts as .psd
oh and hellraiser puzzlebox definatly... i was thinking for iron block - you could make it look like scrap sheets of iron riveted together (the iron block is important to me cause my 64block high 3d bender head consists of mainly iron blocks)( i really cant wait for you to do iron block so i can post pics of bender)
lapis block needs be totally different to blue wool it has to look man-made. ( i use it in fountains mainly and some building decoration. )
- PSD it is.
- Iron block will be as Zomb described it (Great idea! I wanted something with lots of rivets). I imagine it as looking kind of Orky (wh40k), shaded somewhere around Bender-gray.
Lapis, I'm thinking like a dark blue tile with little bits of gold. Like you'd see on the floor of a fancy hotel's lobby bathroom.
(Because that's what i strive for with vDC. To look good enough to be on the floor of a pisser)
Also, I'm working on the rails right now. I've got the normal ones done, I just have to come up with something cool for the powered & detector rails.
I'm thinking of plopping that lightning tube into the middle of the powered ones and maybe have some random wires running under it, between the planks?
No ideas for the detectors though. Worse comes to worse, I'll reuse the wires and plop some standin metal plate in the middle.
As far as I can tell, the CTM sheet only covers sandstone, glass, bookcases, and chests (I assume for some mod...?).
And eat me. It took like 4 hours to get the glass working with CTM.
It would be pretty cool though!
As for the alts, it occurred to me that you need an imaging program like Gimp or such to edit any PNG with transparency (IE, the terrain and items). 99.99% of them can handle PSDs right off the bat, so I think I think I should be good with them.
I'm trying to avoid doing a big PNG spreadsheet because the items are all 256x256. I already have a dozen Alts, so if I continue making more, the image size would become enormous.
On another note, tomorrow's update may actually turn out to be pretty nice.
I got the rails finished, including an animated active powered rail! (using the lightning tube animation from the repeater)
Also, I've got a couple more questions for everybody!
1) While I'm working with the planks at the moment, should I make some really quick bookshelv placeholders? I'd basically just plop down the planks from the ladder around a stock photo of some book or something, so they would absolutely not be final; but it might help with playability at the moment. Your thoughts?
2) This one might not be too popular, and obviously I'd have to make alternate textures; but I've got to get the chests done sooner rather than later and I've been thinking it might be really neat to make them into coffins!
Plus, I could try drawing in a little minecraft corpse or something inside. (For which, I was thinking of drawing at an angle, so it looks proper when you look into a chest)
The bookshelf idea doesn't sound bad. Also my idea for a chest would be something like a older chest with maybe a torn rag or something over it with big nails holding the chest together. Though the coffin idea would be cool if your playing the game half awake and you open your chest at night than one of those creepy cave noises plays it would scare the hell out me even more. lol.
Bookshelve idea seem like a good idea. Although it doesn't bother me cause i don't use bookshelves
Coffin chests sound good but yeah, acesss has a good idea for some alts for them
EDIT: Also those rails look A.M.A.Z.I.N.G i can see they fit with the pack very well.
- PSD it is.
- Iron block will be as Zomb described it (Great idea! I wanted something with lots of rivets). I imagine it as looking kind of Orky (wh40k), shaded somewhere around Bender-gray.
awesome thankyou man, cant wait now!
tracks look great (however i would reduce size of wire and have two , one for each side? maybe just a thought)
chest/coffin idea sounds great. especially as i already make grave/tombs with a chest containing rotten flesh. (when a pet dies usually)
also i think i read somewhere than any texture will be soon have ctm feature.(not sure but)
I've taken May 4th-11th off specifically to work on the pack though! So expect big things as soon as my brain un-melts after seeing the Avengers movie!
i knew you would want to see this too!! i hope it gives you some more awesome - inspiration? (but how can best artist get even better when already the best!?)
Wow, this texture pack is amazing You are doing a great job, keep up the good work! I like how you are running ideas by the audience to give everyone a say. I'll keep an eye on this thread and help out with any choices that you are contemplating

Actually no, if you have the textures laid out like it is for glass, then you can name the file "terrainX.png" in the ctm folder, where X is it's location on the terrain.png, the same number you use for animating blocks. So you can do it for any block
The chests are in there because CTM was created before the new chests, back when they were a full block.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Theevilpplz is so fabulous, hetrosexual men turn bi when he passes by.
Updates include:
- New Sun (for some reason the animation doesn't seem to work. if anyone could help me out with that, it would be very much appreciated!)
- New Glass (w/ CTM support)
- New Bookshelves (w/ CTM support)
- New Iron Bars
- New Spawners
- New Rails (w/ animated powered rail)
- New Skeletor-inspired Diamond Sword
- New TCM-inspired Diamond Chainsaw Axe
- New Mjolnir Stone Sword
- 11 Alternate items!
- New sword & axes painting
- Fixed up the "D" banner painting.
- Fixed yup the door knocker paintings (do they look familiar to anyone?)
- Fixed Leaves not tiling properly.
- Fixed up Cobblestone tiling.
- Some other small tweaks.
Good idea!
I'm not sure I'll do that yet, but once the pack's out of Beta, I'll throw an Alt sheet together like that one (assuming it doesn't make the filesize shoot up too much)
Not sure if its just the way you made the image, but the tracks don't look to match up.
The sun looks awesome and i love you for making a CTM .png while making the glass. (no homo)
D'oh!
Yeah, it's just in that image. The actual rails do line up properly ingame.
Speaking of which, does anyone have a complaint about me tossing those type of images together for new releases?
honestly, taking screenshots for each new release adds like 2 hours to the process of uploading the files and updating threads and whatnot; So this is just the fastest way to show what's new.
A 64x version will be made once the the main 128x pack is finished.
On another note, I found a slight error in the pack!
TO USE THE ANIMATED SUN TEXTURE:
OPEN "DoomSun.properties" AND CHANGE "to=/environment/sun.png" TO "to=/terrain/sun.png"
Keep in mind, this only works with MCPatcher, as Optifine has yet to add some animation bits. Of course, Optifine is about a million time better for packs above 64x, so I'm not too worried about the mistake. It'll be fixed for the next release; in the meantime I'll consider it an extra.
Awesome. Be sure to try out the animated sun if you get the chance.
I just saw it for the first time ingame and I think it turned out pretty damned awesome. Some of the realistic packs may get jealous.
And YES! The talking knockers from Labyrinth!
You're the first person, since I released the pack with more than mobs, to get that!
Sir Didymus would be proud!
Is HD Patcher needed for this texture pack? i want this texture pack but some mods dont work with HD Patcher. Answer plz you deserve a (or more) if you do!
This my friend is THE best texture pack in the history of Minecraft. Can't wait to play now.Question for you. Have you ever thought of doing texture packs for mod like trees++ or indusrialcraft2 or just any of the more popular mods? If not you should consider it because you are a true artist.

you can use optifine instead. supports forge which i'm guessing is your problem with mcpatcher.

cool will have to wait till this arvo to see animated sun (only optifine installed atm, will have to whip up a mcpatcher version). everything looks great, good job with ctm on the glass and bookshelves. love the chainsaw (would be good if 'digging' animation could be changed to suit chainsaw better but that would require moddding) also i like how you display new updates very profesional looking imo.
thanks for your time emperor doom.

took me a bit. i loved that movie when i was a kid!

Retired StaffAlso, you are not a REAL texture pack manly man until you make a CTM sheet for the Mob Spawner!
I double-dare you!
And eat me.
