I'm not too worried about the lavaness of the Netherrack yet. Before I cartooned it up, I actually made it into a realistic texture of black rocks with lava between them; so it's kind of what I was going for.
I also spent a a few hours messing around with a balance between the black and red portions of the texture. I wanted the Nether to be a lot darker than default, but still have an overall red tone. The ingame result is a Nether that's a lot spookier than people are used to.
I think people are gonna have fun with it!
Also, I haven't started on the lava yet, but when I do make it, I'll be sure to give it a much more yellow-ish color than red. It'll look more like real lava, and give a nice contrast to the darker, reddish, Netherrack.
On another note, I've finished up the ores!

it's gonna have to wait a bit though. Relatively speaking, the texturepack is still in its early stages, and there's a lot more I have to get completed before I can move onto nice things like bumpmaps, alternate textures, and whathaveyou.
also when you make alternate textures, can you make a diamond sword texture instead of the hammer.
I do enjoy using it, but i prefer using a sword. Oh and if you have it enchanted the texture looks a little odd with two enchantments covering it.

Honestly, I'm probably going to do the items last, as they're going to take the most work, and I don't even know what I want to do for most of them. But yeah, more normal looking diamond sword is a most for an Alt.
I've been wanting to make a Skeletor sword anyways, so i may just do it for that!

Yeah, the Soulsand turned out better than i had hoped, considering that the one show in the video was just the test one with little editing. I'm going to have to make a higher quality version when I get the chance, but I think it looks pretty nice for the time being.
Also, yes, the bow I've mentioned is an animated Hawkeye (Marvel's Avengers) bow. It's going to be included in the upcoming new release of vonDoomCraft!

Anything I can do to help people miss work...
Lemme know what you think after you get a chance to test it. There are a lot of little fixes and tweaks to the current blocks, which I have planned, but didn't have time for. Especially with the iron and gold ores.
Next update should include them, and hopefully the rest of the natural blocks in the terrain. The man-made ones will have a slightly different outlining and coloring technique (like the ones used on the stone halfblock), so I want to do them all separate, so I don't mix things up in my head.
Where did the bow idea come from? Final Fantasy 13-2? Or did you think just think of it?

Yeah, I couldn't handle anything over 64x up until recently, so I feel you.
It's actually the reason I went with 128x instead of 256x or such. I couldn't get enough detail for my style with 64x, but I still wanted more people to be able to use it.
Once the terrain is done, I'll try and toss together a 64x version. Honestly though, I'm not sure how good it will look with the loss of detail. Never know though!

I want to get the Terrain and some of the misc world textures done before moving back into the mob skins. They just use a different skillset than what I'm currently working on, so I'm trying to do everything in phases.
Natural textures-> man-made textures-> Hostile mobs-> animals-> items.
(probably with some random stuff thrown in, as I tend to do. The general theme of this texturepack is "whatever I think is cool")
As far as animals specifically go though, I haven't even sat down to draw up some concepts for them yet. I'm not sure what balance between "cute", "hideous", and "retarded" I'm aiming for with the animals, either.
When I do have more ideas, or sketches, I'll be sure to post them!
