ok i found a small problem, optifine won't load converted vondoomcraft because of 256x textures conflict. converting 64x pack worked fine. so the 256x textures need to be resized to 128 like the rest of pack (sucks i know). if doom hasn't updated when i get home this arvo i will upload a converted 128x pack in meantime.
future ports look hard if i have to resize every unstitched texture but fear not i have photoshop which has scripting abilities. so i just have to learn how to write batch script.
i made a converted 128x vondoomcraft and optifine has indead fixed performance for 1.5 i was getting between 100-150fps with far render distance. i'll upload it now uploaded
Dude straight up AWESOME texture pack! Chainsaw Diamond swords?! HOLY SHIZZZ! Only downside seems that my mobs are the same default ones. Also id LOVE LOVE LOVE if you could do Mo' creatures in this style. Dude keep up the awesome work!
Edit: Seems you dont have cows, pigs, chickens textured yet. So never mind. Ill be using this pack for a while

Ok, cool. Thanks zomb!
So it's not too too bad then. I hate the idea of downsizing the items, but if that's the only major loss with 1.5 I'm relieved. I've been waiting months now just to see if I could continue with the pack...
Anywho, sorry for the lack of updates lately! Real life is once again encroaching on me, and among other things I've finally had to start the job search again. And with the whole "1.5 worries" thing, I've just had no energy to work on vDC lately; Hence the little non-Minecraft side-projects.
I'll have a release for the L4D2 stuff in a week or so. I've got to fix up some of the alphas on the zombies (as well as all their hands), make a few GUI bits, and make the damn chicken texture already, and it'll all set for release.
(there's also a full Minecraft campaign made for L4D2 that I'd like to eventually retexture, but it's got a lot of the animal mobs in it, so it'll wait until they're finally done)
In MC news, this upcoming week looks like it's going to be a bit hectic for me, but I'm hoping to get some work done on the animals very soon (possibly before the Quartz stuff. I've been having a lot of trouble with it)! And I just wanted to say an extra special thank you to all of you for sticking in there while I've been floating in pre-1.5 limbo! I know the lack of updates has been annoying!
I think i've got a solution to your problem...
The items need to be down-scaled because of mojangs dumb decisions that forces you to have the items in the same resulotion as the blocks right?
And the items are in a 256x resolution... right?
So why not work on a second version of the pack where you upscale the block textures to 256x? I am no texture pack maker but wouldn't that fix the issue?
Yeah, that option is on the table!
I only worry that with everything at 256x, a lot less people would be able to run it on their computers.
I'm going to have to do some testing, but this one would actually be close to ideal.
if you make a 256x version i can do 128x port aswell as 64 and 32
I may just take you up on that!
Unfortunately, this wouldn't mean a sudden upgrade for the existing terrain, as I created most of the blocks and chests at 128x. There are a few random ones I had to start large because of details, but I think 90% of the terrain and such would just be pixel-upscaled and look exactly as they do now. And honestly, if the difference ingame is drastic, I think I'd be better off keeping them all looking 128x.
...if any of that makes sense.
Anywho, I've got orientation stuff this week for my job and no idea what my schedual will be like thereafter, but I'm really hoping for weekend time to work on the Wither and get started on the animals (at least the dang chicken!). I'm still a little iffy about what to do with the Witch, and... well, the Enderdragon's gonna be a huge project no matter what I do with it, but I don't think anyone really cares about either, so they can hold off a bit longer.
ok, so far from what i have seen this texture pack looks amazing. But i seem to only have the hostile mobs and the chests to change textures, the rest are all default. Is there a way to fix this?
it is probably an easy fix but i cant figure it out, some help wil be nice.
thanks

At the moment, it's not 1.5 compatible. I'm gonna be working on it some time this weekend, but I just started my new job today and haven't gotten my schedule yet, so as much as I wish I could, I can't really put a time frame on when it'll set.
I'm going to say it'll be set "as soon as I possibly can. Hopefuly within a week".
Worse comes to worst though, if I end up with no real spare time to work on anything new for it, I'll do my damndest to at least get a 1.5 version out there for you guys!
In the meantime, to use the pack with 1.5, you're going to have to download MCPatcher. You don't have to use it, specifically, ingame; but MCPatcher does have a Texture Pack Updater that you can use to get the current version up to 1.5 compatibility!
And installing without MCPatcher breaks MC. I'm not using Forge. Just optifine.
Huh! honestly, I'm not sure what the problem would be with that one. I still haven't had a decent amount of time to do any testing or such (which is driving me frickin' crazy)
Hey Doom it would be nice if you could ad a 0-100% completion bar thingy like optifine did ontop of its thread to let people know how much progress you've made on the patch.
Good idea!
At the very least, I need to take stock of what's left and update the "To Do" section!
I do very much like that progress bar idea though! (I'll add it to the list of "sh*t I'm wishing for time to work on" lol)
Again, I just wanted to apologize to everyone for the lack of updates lately!
Between the job search, family problems, friend troubles, and everything else going on lately; I've either been swamped with real life crap or so burnt-out that I didn't have the energy to even turn on the computer. And now, there's the whole "starting a new job" thing, which I'm already feeling "bleh" about...
I know it's frustrating. For what it's worth, it goes double for me.
So really, I know I said it before, but thank you all for hanging in there! You folks are the best!
havent been online in a few days...... for 1.5 i uploaded converted pack and fixed missing water/lava anims. random terrain does not work i may look into it later. i just bought triple my usual internet spendage so i'll be playing lots of black ops 2 online in next few days (my steam is zomb699 if anyone wants to join my team, just mention vondoomcraft etc.) as soon as Doom does official 1.5 version i will learn batch script so can continue ports (i imagine the work without a script would take weeks!)
edit: nice one getting new job Doom. is it something you'll enjoy?

Sure would be nice if you guys would learn how to not quote an entire post the length of a short novel. Replacing the giant wall of text with "-snip-" will suffice, ya know.
On topic: Can't wait for 1.5 support. Personally, I'm not even on 1.5 yet, because I'm a server administrator, so our server is still on 1.4.7 while Bukkit updates. Either way, though, I'll be waiting like the rest of us for an update to one of the best texture packs around.

seems 1.5 still has bad performance issues... lets hope optifine can fix.

Those L4D2 textures look AMAZING. I just got L4D2 today so I'm REALLY excited for the release!
Why don't you just make two versions? 128x and 256x? That one everybody could be happy but it might be a lot of work.
