Real life's being a pain in the ass, so I haven't had much chance to get anything done with the pack in what seems like forever! Luckily, Zomb's taken up the mantle and continuing to develop vDC in my absence! He's got my full support, so please let him know what a swell guy he is!

In all honesty, I'm by no means a rich person. And almost every moment I'm not at work is spent working on vonDoomCraft. There's also not a single texture in here so far that took less than 3 hours to create.
I hope it shows; As artistically vonDoomCraft is the largest art project I've ever worked on, and has become somewhat of my Magnum Opus! At this point, I believe I've spent more time actually creating textures for Minecraft than I have actually playing Minecraft.
While I'd never go so far as to say that people need to pay me for my work on vDC, obviously any and all donations are greatly appreciated! Be they $2 or $20,000.
And believe me, I understand that times are tough.
So if you wish to help support vDC non-monetarily, really all you have to do is spread the word a bit! Tell your friends who play Minecraft about vDC, maybe wear a signature.
There's plenty of ways to help out, and I'd like to thank everyone out there already doing such!

I just became aware of the upcoming 1.5 update and how it'll add Zombie Pigmen to the non-Nether world, so I think I'll make them into mutated pig-men (think john Carpenter's the Thing). Whenever I do them, I'll throw in matching a matching Pig skin; though it may be a while before I do other animal mobs.
As far as the Skeletons go though, I have no idea what I'll make them into. I'm thinking possibly Frankenstein's monsters; but then the bow might be a little goofy.
Maybe Mexican Day of the Dead styled skeletons...?

The zombie from cutecraft already has this too. And I love how that looks
Ah, okedokes. Honestly, I figured someone had to have noticed that they use head transparency, but I hadn't come across that pack (or any others that may use it).

This looks great, I'm thinking of making a suggestion of integrating it into Minecraft 4Kids. However, the texture pack is 128x128. Do you think you could make textures similar to the ones in the thread in double the resolution? If not, a simple bicubic resize and sharpening would be adequate.

remember minecraft4kids was made to not be scary for little kids

Actually, the skins themselves should be suitable for anything 64x and above.
Minecraft4kids' ( a great pack) Creeper texture is 256x128. Looking through a bunch of other 128x packs, the highest monster texture resolution I'm seeing is 512x256 (World of Warcraft texture pack).
My textures are currently 1024x512 for the Creeper and Zombie.
The Slime I'm working on, however, is only 640x320 to keep it lagfree.
Here's a slightly outdated screenshot:
Also, when I do release these, my installation instructions will mainly be how to install these into your current skinpack; so you can plop these into Minecraft4Kids or whatever you want.

Skins are mind-blowing! Can you please make a mind-blowing texture pack to go with this? =D
I'll eventually release my personal texture pack when I'm I'm happy with it. It's made from pieces of Minecraft4kids, WoW, a few HD Zelda packs, and custom stuff. Every block's been edited though.
Sometime down the road, I'd also like to make my own items. But I'd need to buy a scanner first so I can hand draw them and not have it take weeks.
Before any of that stuff though, I want to finish this up and make some HD Master Chief skins.
I've already made myself a custom Halo health/ammo bars, hud, menu, pumpkin blur, and normal resolution player skin, so I can them throw them all into a sort of halo mini-pack when it's done.
(of course, I'll have to change the skins and hud elements from my personal pink to halo hud blue first)
Maybe make the outlines a bit thiner or add some smaller, more detailed ones on the slimes? They look great so far tho.
You should totally make a terrain file as well haha. I'd love to see what you'd do with it.

I'll definitely add more small details to the Slimes, as well as some more shading. I might make the current lines thinner, depending on how it looks once the new details are put in.
They already better transparency than in the screenshot above; and their eyes & mouth openings are darkened so the brain showing through doesn't look so bright.
Hopefully, I can finish up the Slimes, do some slight touch ups on the Zombie, fix up the OP in this thread, and have the first download up by either tomorrow or Monday!

Right now I don't have any plans to do a full hand drawn terrain pack. Personally, I've always liked the contrast of having heavily-cartoony characters on slightly realistic backgrounds, so my terrain textures are mainly from stuff like Minecraft4kids and WindWaker. Kind of gives it that Flintstones feel, with the hand painted backgrounds...
I think if I was to draw a terrain texture like these characters are done, the game would probably look entirely too busy.
On another note, this pack will eventually include all the mobs (not just monster); And with the first release looming, I'm going to name this pack "vonDoomCraft: HD Mobs"! So be aware that the thread title will change! I'll try and make the thread title stand out a bit, as the search option's gone.
Personally, I think you should keep skeletons as skeletons due to the fact sound effects will no longer make any sense when you attack them. You could make the zombie pigmen different since there are already zombies. You could make them demons or something along those lines.

I didn't even know you could use the secondary head layer for the mob skins.
