"A jiang shi, also spelled jiangshi or chiang-shih (in Wades-Giles), and also known as a Chinese "hopping" vampire or zombie, is a type of reanimated corpses in Chinese legends and folklore. "Jiangshi" is read as Gangshi in Korean and Kyonshi in Japanese. According to legend, in the day, the jiangshi rests in a coffin or hides in dark places such as caves. At night, it moves around by hopping, with its arms outstretched. It kills living creatures to absorb their qi (life essence)."

Sounds like a cool Idea.
Now that is a GREAT idea!
I think everyone, we have just found our zombie!
I plan to do double res mobs so I should be able to add enough detail to make this work!
Thanks a TONNE for the idea! :biggrin.gif:
WOW! I would use this pack but I love your first one so much.
Now, I'm horrible with texture packs and such, but is the water in this one different from your first texture pack? If so, how do I get the water is this pack's?
Ive been meaning to tell you for a while now how much i enjoy your first pack. I used yours and Sinecraft till i fell in love with Zekocraft. Anywho...
The Japanese texture is coming along quite nicely. The pics look great and all the ideas sound like they will translate well. When i was younger, like most, I liked japanese culture. I wondered why there were no good Oriental-style packs, almost started to make one several times. Glad to see you taking on a project like this. Downloading now. Keep up the great work.
PS - I fully expected to see some slippers and shoes by the door in those screen shots?
Edit: Fantastic job on the sandstone/floor texture. Killer.
Im wondering, Will the untame racoons be in there natural form, and the tame one be in the happy, normal form of Pom Poko?
If I can do something like that, then, yes :smile.gif:
If it's too hard too make them look noticeably different then I might have to add a collar or a bandanna or a scarf or something man made to make them different.

Well in the next update of the Sheep Pack, I have made 3? (It's either 3 or 4) water colours for you to choose. All the same animation, just a different colour and this colour is one of them. Oh, and this water is exactly the same as the one from the Sheep Pack, just a different colour.

Maybe I should add in a slipper block :wink.gif:
But seriously, thank you! I understand about Zekocraft too, it's amazing!
When i first read the OP and saw a few of the ideas folks had, i immediately thought of ivory and bamboo. I know i personally would have a hard time with 16x16 ivory textures. I hope to be able to contribute more ideas. But for now, have a gander at this bad boy. For the work bench I was thinking of one of those traveling merchant chest backpack things and found this.

Hmmmmm, I think I could actually recreate that pretty well!
I'll post pics of the new chests in a bit too thanks to your marvelous link :biggrin.gif:
Much inspiration to be had!
Ok everyone, think it's time to release 0.6! :smile.gif:
Includes: saplings, new chests (still WIP), new iron ore, ladders, new cobble, new moon and sun, new cloth textures and new black wood panel texture as orange wool (looks great on castles!), better bamboo/reeds, fixed a couple of problems with tiling/general bugs I found.
Here are some pics of stuff:
More improvements on the sun. You guys are probably sick of seeing these xD
First attempt at bansai saplings! Turned out quite well, I think.
Chesty goodness. Simple, but I like them.
@ unifyyy, check the first post in a minute for version 0.6. I changed iron ore and it's a LOT better :smile.gif:
Ok, working on crops now. I'm making them into rice paddies (of course) so that you now harvest rice instead of wheat. Instead of bread there will now be rice balls!
Haven't done the wheat textures yet but here are some pictures of 'inundation' (wet, plowed soil). Probably going to make the blue a bit darker on the plowed wet soil. Non wet plowed soil won't have any blue, it will just be plowed dirt basically :tongue.gif:
Bonus pretty sunset picture, ENGAGE!
EDIT: Okay everyone, got a bit sidetracked from the rice/wheat but I made all the swords into katana's!
Might post the items.png file in a bit so you guys can add them to your game before the next update.
it just so happens that i'm building a huge traditional japanese-style mansion right now, and then a small villiage, and the a huge mountain-top castle, so i gotta say thanks for this texture pack. i have an idea though. i saw you changed the yellow wool to tatami mats, so can you change maybe the orange wool to look like fusuma or shōji? it'd actually help me quite a bit if you did. thanks for reading this post if you see it!

Ok, just googled fusuma and they are a GREAT idea. I'm actually just starting to make some now :biggrin.gif: (green and lime wools, going to have a decorated one and a plain one)
Also, orange wool is taken up by black wooden boards like that seen on this castle.
What colour wool would you like me to use instead?

hmm, i don't have a preference for which color wool you use, the black wooden boards on that castle was amazing so i'm just curious to see how this texture pack will look when finished

Kay, made some fusuma, painted and plain!
They look great in walls!
The idea is that you have the painted ones on the bottom and then put the plain ones on top. Looks awesome to divide large spaces (which is what they're for anyway!)
If you open this picture in a new tab you can see the stone katana!
All the katana's are sort of based around this shape (more the iron katana actually) but they all have different coloured blades and handles.
Ok, starting to run out of coloured wool to fill up with random stuff! I will keep the white, greys and black wools normal though. The others will probably be filled with other wall stuff or more tatami mat patterns or something.
Ok everyone, I actually updated the pack to 0.6.5 just so I could get your opinion on the katana's and if I should do the rest of the tools in the same style. There are also fusuma, painted and unpainted as green and lime wool added in as an extra bonus. Have fun! :biggrin.gif:
I gotta say XS, this pack is really coming along beautifully. All the new block improvements look great and the wool is very innovative. The banzai, chests , and cobble look amazing. But may favorite by far is the soil. I was thinking rice fields all day yesterday while reading this thread. HAHA
The new swords look great. Dont know if you were already planning this, but maybe have a uniform design for the hilt/handle (don't know the Japanese word). Maybe wait till towards the finishing of the pack to decide on a color palette or if one 'emerges'.
Btw, great idea on the fusuma xXD3ATHXx. Along with the rice fields, an image of 'Japanese wardrobe separators' was prominent in my head. Glad to see them in the pack.
Now that is a GREAT idea!

Good thing is you don't have to use them! Just delete the misc folder (in the Nagareru folder) or just don't patch the game :smile.gif:
