This is a very pretty texture pack, I like the look of it.
All this nifty stuff and 16x16?
Bows low in respect for artistic talent.
PS: If you like cherry blossoms, check out Nandonalt's new Cherry Trees Mod, includes white blossom trees...
Thanks!
I had the exact same comments on my other 16x16 pack (in my sig). To be honest, I don't exactly get where you are coming this stuff from... Especially if you look at a well made 32x pack such as Dokucraft! :tongue.gif:
I'll have a look into that mod as well, sounds interesting! :biggrin.gif:
Sorry about all the neglect lately everyone! :|
My other pack is now done with its major update and I am putting 100% of my attention back on this pack!
First of all, I really want to re-do the cactus. I don't really want to do a cactus because they aren't things you tend to see in Japan at all :tongue.gif:
Ideas anyone? (it can be a type of prickly bush too, I could make that work!)
Looks around for neglect. Searches for hours and hours. Days pass. Then weeks and then even months pass. The elusive journey to find neglect continues for years. The adventurer is never seen again.
In all seriousness, I don't think you have been neglecting this pack. Wasn't your last update not even a week ago? Three to four weeks might count as neglect but anything less than a week.
I did find a spiny bush though.
It's Japanese Barberry and it comes in an assortment of four colors pink, purple, yellow and orange. This of course is when it's flowering otherwise it's just green.
I don't know if this will work though because I don't think it grows tall. If don't think you can make it work, I can try looking for some other type of plant.
Anyways, keep up the good job, take a break and here's a for you.

Hehehe, I can't help that I'm a workaholic! :tongue.gif:
It's an addiction (not really, but hey...)
I'll have a go at that bush. Doesn't look particularly 'pillar' like but it could be possible! Cute sheep too!
can you make it to 32x :biggrin.gif:?
love your text pack :biggrin.gif:
Thanks! :biggrin.gif:
I am going to be trying higher resolutions a bit later on :tongue.gif:
At the moment i'm concentrating on finishing this pack for 16x16 though!
Here is something I made with this Texture Pack...
-snip-
BlackRipper (:
Wow, that's beautiful!
I really like the last picture in particular, looks like a really nice place to be xD
That has to be one of the best first posts I've ever seen. for you good sir!

^Very nice, very nice indeed.
It really is!
It's inspiring too, I feel the need to make my own Japanese castle! Might build a town around it too. Maybe a shrine in the woods as well?

Hey i see that you have few things better than i in my texture pack (link in sig).
I like your cobblestone. I didn't have idea for my, so i left it deflaut. Maybe we could exchange few textures - i'll give you my textures you like and you'll give me your textures i like to improve even more our japan packs?
That's quite a good idea!
I really like your roof tiles O.o
They so pretty!
I might send you a PM in just a bit so we can work this out a bit better :tongue.gif: For now, I need a shower!

NorseCraft used a rose bush and I am inclined to agree. It can then be a decorative but also useful feature. Because of the way they grow, it wouldn't look odd to stack them. And then I can be content with posting my mix of your terrain on your other thread, since it will be exclusively your work.

It was actually your post on my other texture pack that made me consider doing this (and then submitting to your obviously far superior idea :tongue.gif:)
I'll have a look at the NorseCraft rose bush and see how they went about doing it. I won't do a rose bush because it isn't that Japanese (is it?), but it would at least give me an idea on the style for it!
I'd daresy the rose is the second most significant flower in Japan, behinf the chrysanthemum. We actually have some of these growing at work, and let me tell you, the little thorns are insidious. Do not attempt gardening near them unless you're wearing heavy gloves.

Oh wow, awesome! :biggrin.gif:
This should help a lot!
I think rose bushes have a thing against me though... whenever I walk down the street I seem to get snagged on a rose bush peeking through someones front yard fence >.>
EDIT: don't know how I missed this, but at the top of that page it even says they often grow on SAND dunes! :biggrin.gif:
Perfect!
I would definitely like to see the standard bricks replaced with a white brick suitable for Japanese structures.
Also, the red wool should not be changed to something else. I think that it's one of the more widely used colors in Japanese architecture.
How about changing that rice paper wall texture over to the pink wool? It's not really any harder to make than red and honestly, who uses pink wool? I understand your reluctance to change colors that occur naturally on sheep, but the odds of finding and shearing a pink sheep are small at best (I've encountered ONE since 1.4). Likewise, the cyan wool could be repurposed.
By the way, I've gotten a look at more of your art - good choices overall!

Yea, the other problem would be that lots of people would have to convert their rice paper wall buildings to the new colour of wool >.>
I know I would find that quite annoying, and I only have a couple of small buildings with rice paper walls!
I do think I should have red still in though, cos that seems like a very popular idea. I think I'll change it then... :tongue.gif:
The bricks were either going to be white bricks or normal styled cobble so you can get an interesting mix going on and it would make a better base for buildings. Which do you think *you* would prefer? (I really need to decide these last few things so the update can be released xD)
Quote from EShredder »
When are the next update comming? I'm exited to see all the new things (and my gui). I don't want to push you or anything, but still, I can't wait!
@everyone who posted amazing creations: You creations are amazing! Please keep 'em up!
Update will be very soon, possibly today or tomorrow and if not then, then it will be monday! (it will be released as soon as I finish the terrain.png)
So no longer than 3 days xD

You could always make the cactus look like a thorny mass of vines with little flowers in it.
That way it looks more like a thicket and not a cactus.
Yea, that's the way that NorseCraft (which I just had a look at for it's rose bush :tongue.gif:) did it. It actually looks really good too!
I've just started work on it too. Only really difficult thing is getting the vines to look good AND tile with the rest of the cactus :tongue.gif:
The rice plant and water canals look great. Your concept was right on the money.
Thanks!
I really like how the tilled dirt turned out. I can't believe it took me that long to even try texturing it (this is for my other pack too, it was the last texture I even attempted to re-texture :tongue.gif:)
I feel the need to name a building after you...
The LostKingpin castle? :biggrin.gif:
EDIT: forgot to say, it's going to be my first Japanese style castle! I'll post some pictures of it's progress here (along with some texturing progress :tongue.gif:)

I'd prefer the white brick - I can deal with just one regular look for cobble.

Does not seem to be working for me. Are these specific trees/newly generated chunks?
Did you patch the game?
If not then you need to use the beta patcher (there's a link at the bottom of the OP)

The LostKingpin castle? :biggrin.gif:
HAHA! What just a building? Not a region of the map or a city? Bah.
Only joking, but i'm sure you know that. I am honored that you would do that. LostKingpin Asylum? Kingpin Kastle? LK Kwickie Mart?
My main reason for posting today was to recommend a mod to everyone that frequents this thread. RiverGen compliments any minecraft map, especially an Oriental/Japan theme. Its a WIP script that places rivers strategically in your world. Like most new mods, it has some bugs and a chance to corrupt your world. I have used it a few times with no problems at all. The rivers that this code creates are really well thought out and compliment the landscape beautifully. Please disregard if you already are aware of this generator, but if not, here is the link. viewtopic.php?f=1022&t=240568
