I do apologize if this shouldn't be posted here, but I couldn't find any other T.Pack sections to post in.
Anyway, there's a massive number of packs hanging around these forums, I've been browsing for a good half hour or so just digging through the stickies post and playing around in several threads, trying to dig up a treasure. I saw one that I really liked but it apparently has been abandoned for the time being (Aza's). I'm trying to find a texture pack to make the "official" pack of my server. Nothing to outlandish or anything, but the one thing I really want it to do is make cobblestone look good enough to justify using it to build with.
I've always used sandstone since I think cobblestone is absolutely hideous and the regular smooth stone blends in with the landscape to much. Unfortunately I've practically strip mined the beaches of my map and I refuse to hack/give sandstone since it's supposed to be a 100% vanilla/legit server. Can you recommend any packs? If it makes other material besides just cobblestone really nice looking for building even better, but my primary concern is cobblestone. I have one player who loves to use dirt to build and one who loves wood, so if the pack doesn't make them ugly then victory goes to you.
Simplecraft: That's not to bad is it. I'll certainly show it to my server and see what they think, pretty much anything can be used as a basic blank building block with that one. I have no idea how it will go over with them, I like the simpleness, but they may not. Thanks for the suggestion.
LAR: I can't say I like it honestly, it has basically the same ugly cobblestone that drives me so crazy.
LB Photo Realism: That one I actually saw going through the sticky. I don't really know how I feel about it honestly, it may be a bit too detailed for my taste though. It is an incredibly beautiful pack, just not really what I'm looking for.
There's always my own texture pack. It's a tile-styled texture pack. I think it's nice, and here's a pic that shows both smooth and cobble stones.
You should give it a chance, it's a really good pack. (In my opinion.)

I wonder if there are any texture packs that have cobblestone showing up somewhat like marble...dunno. I'll keep scavenging on my own and gathering your suggestions :smile.gif:
Fiftyniner: It's not a bad looking pack, although your stone (if I'm looking at the right spot) looks like black sand to me. That's not necessarily a bad thing mind you, just not sure I would want to build an entire tower out of it.
As a note:
What is missing out of Aza's pack right now anyway? I really, really like it but I don't want it to end up messing the game up by being out of date or having texture holes/blanks that cause the game to look all wonky.

No, I think you were looking at the bedrock. Or possibly the obsidian. My stone isn't that dark.

Which one is your cobblestone then? The gray sand? I'm guessing the brown bricks are sandstone.

It's the second texture down on the left. And yeah, the yellow-brownish bricks are sandstone.
Oh my now that is pretty. I couldn't hear over the water though, what is that floor made of in the texture area? Slate I think he said? What's slate o.0

If you're looking for a more processed feal, it may look too futuristic, but it makes cobblestones look AWESOME, it whips my house from Oh, Nah to Bonar in 0.43 seconds; This is what I suggest. Generally this ENTIRE pack is kind of futuristic, but you could prolly use just bits of it or like it anyways;

Aageon and Aza out of the picture really leaves a hole in the ultra HD packs... Anyway, I suggest my pack if you're interested. Nothing to lose.
