Hello! Some of you may know me. I am head of the Squid Empire slowly taking over youtube, heaven games and Google skecthup (among others). If you have any objections here, leaven me to my delusions.
Now, that the introductions are done my plan for my first Minecraft project is an Ancient Egyptian texture pack. I hope to make it historically accurate, nice looking and original. Here are those three areas again and how I will achieve greatness in them: (hopefully)
[*:1eyzbfys]Historically accurate: obviously not fully accurate, but after all minecraft is a game. Some of the ways I hope to achieve this are: removal of the snow textures: replacement with swamp (?), change skeletons to Nubian's, zombies to (unknown) and creepers to mummies. Also many textures will be changed completely: iron to bronze, diamond to silver, clay to mud, clay bricks to mud brick, trees to palm trees, cobblestone to smooth stone (?), sugarcane to papyrus and Nether to Field of Reeds.
[*:1eyzbfys]Nice looking: probably the hardest for me, I have little to no experience with shading or color transition or seamless edges. However I have done a few sprites for various games that were 32x32 and my signature pictures are examples of my work. Any help in this area would be well received.
[*:1eyzbfys]Original: this is where I'm a little reluctant to begin. I am worried that someone else would have done an Egypt texture pack before me and, even more terrifying, done it better than I ever will. If anyone knows of any Egypt texture packs please tells me here.
UPDATE:
I will begin work on Ausscraft (Dinki di Austraran minecraft texture pack) before Nilecraft.
