very, very small update: I recently noticed the book used 2 different shades of green (:O), so that's been fixed now, you can all put down your pitchforks.

If you finish that, you might win several internets.
If you're interested, here's a link to what I've got so far: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6757211/Oracle/pokemon.zip
A lot of it still uses either the original textures or the textures from this pack, but most of the basic blocks and items are done. I must warn you, though, it's not very user-friendly. My computer's going in lock-down mode starting tomorrow so I can focus on my studies, so it probably won't get finished any time soon either...
Essentials about it are: Biomes are either Red or Blue (even though I'm one of those people who insists on referring to the original generation as "Red and Green", but green looked too normal :P), everything with luminescence is also coloured (usually in yellow), as well as everything which made out of gold or diamond. Everything else is in black and white. Also, almost every item and unfrequent block is a Pokémon (or badge). Yes, Mr. Mime is both the bow and the skeleton, deal with it.
My favourite things about it so far: Exeggutor creepers and missingno. sponges.
Suggestions for this pack are welcome as well, but note that it's nowhere near finished yet. Since a lot of things have to be sprited manually, quite a few things are essentially prototypes (like the wolves or ghasts).

That's quite a clever way of adding seasons to the game. Very nice job!

This is why I love retro game texture packs, lol at the cookies.
Looking forward to whenever this is finished.
Shouldn't be too hard, should it? The map texture seems to be a bit bigger than the usual 16x16 (looks like 64x64), but transforming the in-game map sprite shouldn't be too hard (although I did already use it for paper, which might have to be changed now depending on how the maps will look in the menu [looks like a regular icon in the screenshots, so it'll probably have to be changed])
I'm more looking forward to how the grass will work, because this might enable me to add tall grass, or even leaves if it's really that biome-specific (which is likely too good to be true, but I can dream, can't I?).
And during study-breaks I've been working on the Pokémon texture pack a bit, if anyone's interested: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6757211/Oracle/Pokemon.zip
Almost all the blocks have been replaced now (just the cake and cactus left, as well as the liquids, portals, etc.) Also the ill-fitting Sudowoodo has been replaced with Weedle, Oddish took its place as the red flower (which it was in my original version) and a second Bulbasaur is now the hoe. Mobs will probably take forever, though, but I might end up making a thread for it in the near future, if I can find the time, that is.
If anyone has any suggestions for a Pokémob (especially the spider, because right now it'll end up as either a wingless Venomoth, a silly Paras or something completely random like Koffin, with the body and legs invisible), feel free to share it.
Be sure to tune back in a few hours after the release of 1.6, I'll try to make this pack compatible as soon as possible!
The water has too thick of lines and hurts my eyes when I look at it haha, can you fix it?
I find it looks quite bearable at 1080p, but on smaller resolutions it does tend to look rather messy.
There's no direct way of fixing it, though, using a higher resolution water texture or changing the texture itself would hurt the authenticity. I guess I could use the shallow water texture, but that would be out of place for those familiar with the games. The Oracle of Ages sea texture is another option, but it has even thicker lines :tongue.gif:
It might be best to just unzip, remove the custom water texture file, and rezip the files if it really hurts that much.
I might try changing the transparency of the white lines later today, but from my experience having transparent white lines looks even messier (which is why only the blue is transparent now).
Would smoothening the animation help? Because that's been on my to-do list for a while now.
As promised, here's an update for 1.6_4, details are as always in the first post.
1.6 sadly didn't add new ways of differentiating between biomes, but at least I've now been able to add grass and the likes, so hooray!
I've also changed the water texture (both the texture and animation speed), I don't know whether this'll fix DanCraft's problems, but at the very least it makes the water better resemble the original. I might try using the shallow water texture to see what that'll look like, but probably not today...
I honestly don't know. It looks identical to the default grass texture, and I haven't encountered anything which seems to use it yet. I changed it to the Oracle of Ages grass in this pack, just to be sure, but I don't think it does anything yet.
Same goes for the water biome colours image, which I've changed to the different water colours of the different seasons, but so far the water seems unchanged. I'm guessing it's a work in progress, like the spider web. We'll probably find out some day...

water biome image? I really need to start paying more attention when im prowling around the jar file.
I left the mystery grass blank on mine, see if i run into any purple squares.
My exams just ended, so I'm busy celebrating and whatnot. I've been updating throughout my exams whenever I was bored, so A LOT of stuff changed. I would've updated a few days ago with all the new updates, but my 3DS was all like "hey!" "listen!"...
Anyhow, I think the most noticeable changes are some textures (most notably sandstone, which is now the roads texture on top), armour changes (most notably in inventory and the diamond armour, which is now based on Onox), wool update, and some other stuff I can't think of at the moment. I might change the piston textures, as I'm not too happy with the stone textures.
Kind of annoying my friends by typing this ATM... Also having friends over tomorrow, so expect a formal update in about a day and a half, maybe.

I hate to say this but you didn't notice that the cake sides are also lowered in 1.7
And for the stone part of the pistons..... are there any generic statues you could make them look like? Mine look rather fetching from being based on a featureless statue beside one of the dungeon entrances. If I can think of anything specific I'll post it here. But the stone texture on them isn't that bad, just kinda looks weird on the sides.
I'll try it out tomorrow. I had that stone texture lying around (it used to be the new sandstone texture until I decided to change them to the road tiles [which I have yet to test in the wild...]), so I figured I might as well try to use it and see what the results are. The file really is just a test file (as in, it's not even called "Oracle of Series" yet in my own texture packs folder), so consider this more of a sneak peek than a new version.
And yeah, I noticed the lowering of the bed texture, but not the cake. I honestly haven't really had time to test everything, so if you find any mistakes or things which are just downright ugly, feel free to point them out, I might just not have noticed them yet. Any other suggestions are also welcome. For example, I like the switchhook as shears, but if you have a better idea, feel free to share it. I've honestly spent less than an hour trying to find appropriate textures and implementing them, I haven't even used shears yet...
Are there any changes outside of the terrain.png and items.png files, BTW?
But anyhow, full release hopefully tomorrow, unless friends or Ocarina of Time 3D decide otherwise.
I probably should get some sleep now, so good night!

Yeah I like the switchhook for shears to. the only other important thing added that will effect packs is they added a texture for an unused mob, silverfish.png. Apparently it's an insect that eats wood and paper materials irl.
But yeah, I'll look around to see if anything looks weird and if think of anything better for shears.
And I just thought of this for pistons. What if you make them look like the magnetic gloves and the magnetic balls and pillars in seasons? I'll see if I can make one to see if it would look good in game.
Okay I whipped this up, it's based on the Magnetic Orbs and Pillars that the Magnetic Gloves work with in game.
I'll update this once I test it in game.
EDIT: Okay, I have to say the magnet block piston looks pretty darn good in game. Especially the top and bottom sections when at a distance. Wasn't really sure about what the sticky one could look like so I'll leave that to you if you use it. or maybe include them as alternate pistons.
