Hello, I am new to texture packs, I am trying to make one of my own but i have one problem. When it's in a .zip file and i move it where it belongs, it does not read it even when selected. my pack.png doesn't show, or the gui menus i made, or even my background image, anyone can help?
i have the names correct, what i did was
1. i copied everything out of minecraft.jar
2. i edited some images
3. I archived it as a .rar
4. I changed the extension to .zip
5. I moved the file into my texture packs folder as it should be done
6. i tested, fail
7. i deleted some files that didn't include images, such as paulscode and com.
8. i tested again, it did not work.
I think that's the issue there. As far as I know, simply renaming a file from .rar to .zip doesn't actually make it a zip file. You need to compress it as a zip file from the start. :smile.gif:

Do not troll, flame, or spam in simple texture pack threads. If you don't like them, don't post. You will be warned otherwise.
Edit2: I used my 7z to archive them as a .zip, thanks, i thought they were like .jpg and .jpeg, thanks for the help, its working now. when it's finished It'll be called RhonCraft, I'm a noob so it wont be great, or fast.

The way .rar and .zip store files is much different. It's like changing a .png to a .txt.
On Windows, you need to select the files and folders that make up your texture pack, right click, go to "Sent To" and then "Compressed/Zipped Folder"
