@ Sump, the magic thing will be cool. Much better than my idea.
But you could also change fire to a purple magic poofy thing.

This is how you compress a texture pack.
1. Download from front page.
2. Go to Downloads folder.
3. If Arcane Pack is a zip, double click on it to create a folder of it. If it is already a folder, skip this step.
4. Double click on the folder to open it.
5. Select the entire contents of the folder, right click on it and click "compress". It should create "Archive.zip" or some such thing.
6. Drag this into your texturepacks folder.
Use.
First of all, i used the patcher, stop thinking i'm a stupid child.... second of all, i did all those steps and it STILL didn't work....and thirdly, this problem doesn't occur with other texturepacks at all...also, if you were smart, you'd know that there isn't a compress button, it's send to... then compress folder into...also you can't compress the folder in the .zip while you're viewing it in winzip...
The ones I posted were for macintosh. Don't be a child. I don't run two OS's.
Anyway. I might have those buckets you wanted tonight Sump.

Oh well thanks for informing me before i tried it. :sleep.gif: ./sarcasm
The fact that this pack makes you do all this when on other packs you could just use the patcher and drag the folder, makes this pack bad right away. I went to planet minecraft and saw that many other people have had the same problem... and you haven't tried to fix it at all... for you...

please don't insult me based of the fact you can't figure something out... lots of people have, and everyone else who was given those instructions did, including everyone i helped on planet minecraft.
edit: oh, and it's packaged the same as johnsmith as far as i know.
edit: seeing your response, i'd like to mention i don't think you did follow it to the dot, the fact that you didn't know how to zip a file doesn't give me confidence :tongue.gif:

Well i followed your instructions to the dot and it still didn't work. Johnsmith's texturepack has never given me this kind of problem so i don't know why your texture pack does. Can you try to fix it at least or try and package it in a way so that all you have to do is drag and drop into tp folder after you have used the patcher?

The problem is, you don't seem to have a specific problem. It's just "I can't get it to work." Everyone else is able to... ever thought you missed something/were doing it wrong?

I didn't miss anything, i did everything how you told me to, i didn't delete any files, i didn't add anything to the core files... it might be something in my .jar that might be interfering with it or idk...i mean i can select the tp in my tp window and everything, but when i play with this specific tp, every single texture is the texture from the vanilla minecraft... don't insult a pack just because you're too stupid to work something out.
This. I had the problem at first but fixed it without 20 posts on the forum! If you can't get it, just leave. Don't come back. If you even try to spam up this thread, well...Just stop.
On topic, Sump, I love this pack. It fills my void of magic in this game and works well with the magic in minecraft mod. I love it and it rocks. Thanks.

Just got the update and I must say water looks way better now, nice work :smile.gif: Only thing that could be improved about the water is if you could make that little almost white pixels animated aswel, or maybe just remove them.
i can't get them to animate without much more headache then i'm willing to spend. I kept them because they add a third, stationary layer above the two layers that are sliding in opposite directions, that have the ripple patterns on them. without a top layer, it would look almost like two flat blue things sliding along opposite eachother. I may fix those white dots, but for now I think they can work, except upon close scrutiny.
I'm focusing on the items again, hopefully tomorrow I'll have an update with a lot of items done for you guys. Thanks for all the nice comments btw :smile.gif:
i've noticed the chest gui has a lot of errors, please could you remove the line in the middle it messes up single chests. also, i like the idea of bows being wands, but its not effective, it says bow but its a wand and its annoying, also the arrows being scrolls, a good idea a first but, maybe you like it i'm not so sure about it. also i think ingots and diamond should be bigger and more bar like instead of clumps of it. also bringing back the torches, could you possibly make them square with a purple particle flame please?
Let me fix the bold.
Open up minecraft.jar (as if you were going to install a mod).
Navigate to the "lang" folder.
Inside of it, locate item.bowName=Bow.
Change the "Name=Bow" to "Name=Wand" or something like.
Then change the name of arrow to suit your needs. Arrow is directly under bow.

I persoonally like the wand and scrolls, although I could easily make an alt bow and arrows, and alternate terrain arrows to match. as to the diamonds, i like them as is, athough ill be redoing the iron and gold at some point for sure. And this evening will be spent making a handful of items, as well as making some alternate torches.
