This isn't as good as MrMom's original. Unfortunately, it was very out of date and I couldn't figure out how to reproduce his magic.
bonemouse, I saw this in your release notes and thought I would give it a shot. I just started a new world, roamed to find a nice scenic spot, and built a little house. I used the PanoramaKit addon to make the images, so it's not too magical. Feel free to use these images if you like, but no worries if not.
(I used Isabella B6 with Minecraft 1.2.5 and Optifine C6 to hopefully get the correct colors.)
Bonemouse, you really outdid yourself with the new ore blocks, man. They're amazing! For reference for people who haven't had a chance to play with them yet:
This is the previous, official version of Isabella:
Crazy ****in differences! Note that this is with the 1.3 prerelease, so there's no OptiFine or MCPatcher or anything like that, which is why the water looks wrong. CTM probably isn't functional, either. I'll play around with a 1.2.5 build in a minute, but I just wanted to say that Bonemouse, your new textures are absolutely stellar.
Bonemouse, are any of the biomes supposed to have noticeably different colors for grass, skybox, water, or anything like that? Swamp shows up as an almost mauve color on Rei's Minimap, but in-game it's a normal green color. I can't help but think that OptiFine is continually dicking with texture packs and everything else and I can't determine where the problem is.
I am planning on release the next official version (when 1.3 hits) under a Creative Commons Attribution License. What this means is that people are allowed to modify and/or redistribute the pack as they say fit (including for commercial purposes) as long as they give proper credit. Are you cool with this?
@PizzaShark
Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
As for the biome colours, I've been playing with OptiFine recently and I can assure you that it doesn't muck with the colours. MCPatcher with all the bells and whistles is what I design the pack for, but OptiFine is 95% compatible.
The beta version has a custom sky and fog colours but they don't change from biome to biome anymore. Also, overall, the grass and foliage colours are far more consistent. You should notice a much browner swamp, though. If you don't, make sure you have the swamp overlay in OptiFine's options turned on.
As for the purple swamps in rei's, here's what's going on: Minecraft mixes purple (hard coded) with the green biome colour (from the TP biome gradients) to create the brownish swamp. Since my green is so much more muted then the vanilla green, the purple over powers it, resulting in purple swamps. Both MCPatcher and Optifine bypass this annoyance by reading the swamp colour from a special biome gradient included in the pack. Rei's Minimap, however, still does it the old fashioned way, hence the the purple swamps.
I've just learned to accept it as a funny quirk with that mod.
Thanks for the clarification, Bonemouse. I always seem to have visual bugs (like with C6 I'm missing the flames on torches) with OptiFine, but the gains and additional video options are just too useful. Guess I'll keep on keeping on, but it's nice to know I'm not missing anything critical.
Do you have any plans for more extensive customization of biome water, grass, or sky colors? Like a paler blue for desert, or a green tint for jungle, or does that contradict your concept for the pack?
bonemouse,i'm having some small problems with lava and water.i am using optifine,rei's minimap and forge. however,i'm having non-textured water and lava (by non-textured i mean just blue blocks and red blocks,respectively)and if i change any options on optifine,(clear water,lava animated, water animated,etc.)the water just gets invisible.
Alright.i installed in the same order,but i'll do a fresh reinstall.Thanks,bonemouse!
EDIT:i tried to do what you said,but i'm getting the weird water.
i will also put my list of mods here:

This is the single best texture pack for minecraft.
I am eagerly anticipating the 1.3 compatible version! I've been playing the 1.3 pre-release with the default textures and everything feels strange and unnatural.
@Pizzashark
I came to the realization that biomes didn't need distinctive colours to be, well, distinctive. I also found that having a more unified colour palette made everything look far less patchy.
I have been thinking about doing some sky colour changes based on weather. In other words, a different sky colour for snowy regions, rainy regions, and deserts.
@vira1969
Dunno what to say, man. Sorry it isn't working for you. Wish I had a fix.

Great! You'll be credited as "frejid" unless you let me know otherwise.

I like it. The new villages do have a Tatooine vibe, don't they?

I'm starting to update the OP in preparation for 1.3. I might do a pre-release tomorrow.

Yeah, the biomes appearing "patchy" is definitely a drawback of the system, especially with custom water colors. Maybe someone can develop a mod to do something about that someday.
But yeah, sky colors alone can do a lot. There's a picture using the John Smith texture pack that apparently has the Jungle biome with a very distinct green sky and I remember thinking it made the jungle biome very striking, it made the colors for the wood blocks and the green in the leaves really "pop." Kind of like how grass and leaves seem to be a little greener when it's an overcast day, you know?
I had green skies for Jungle biomes at one point. My issue is that the transition between biomes is only around 4 or 5 blocks now. And while it looks great while in a specific biome, if you are unfortunate enough to have planted your base on the transition line, it can be really annoying.
Loving the new look! I have a project now, too! Open Photoshop and mix'n'match from the previous version!

I put Forge then Optifine into the JAR. Then I put Rei's in the "mods" folder. And that seemed to work for me. (I had the same issue at first.)
