I agree about the lack of specialness. But let me try and justify the decision.
The visual language of the dye items is and has been...
If they're harvested from the world, they should look like they make sense.
If they're crafted from a single item, they are in a bowl.
If they're crafted by mixing 2 or more colours, they are in a bottle.
In previous versions, cocoa beans were only found in chests in mines and dungeons, so it made sense that they'd be in sacks. Now, with addition of cocoa beans on trees, it makes more sense to have them look like the pods themselves.
As for the bonemeal, I basically made them an exception to the rule. But one of my design goals for Isabella 2 is to tighten up the visual language across the board, so I went back on it.

Ohh... Or maybe the jungle trees are so kind that they wrap the cocoa beans for you... JK! I like it aniway! : D

Makes sense. I still use Isabella over everything else, even though it's 16p, just because the aesthetic is so spot-on. SummerFields and Goodmorningcraft are great when you want something bright and cheerful, but I usually prefer Isabella's darker, more muted color scheme
It'd be nice if they'd make a "glowstone lamp" block or something that doesn't serve any purpose but to have glowstone blocks be separate from a "lamp" block. Sometimes I want to build something where the "natural" glowstone texture looks best, but in other situations the lamp-like texture (the texture used in the default Isabella setup) looks best.
I do have a question: is there any chance you could create "natural-looking" textures for ore blocks (lapis, diamond, etc) that could be used primary for decoration, similar to the "rocky glowstone" block texture? The existing diamond block, lapis block, etc textures work fine for simple storage, but I've noticed they don't look quite as attractive when being used for flooring (like if you wanted a "polished stone"-like floor.) Could just be me, though.
I realize that's not very specific, so here's a real-life example of something along the lines of what I'm talking about (spoilered):
Not necessarily those colors, of course, but just that general idea - that you use a somewhat rare, "expensive" material to make fancy-looking flooring to evoke wealth/status that simple wood panels or wool/carpeting doesn't produce.
Regardless, thanks for all your hard work. Isabella is definitely the best texture pack I've ever seen, in spite of the low resolution.
mother of prettyness! i love that texture soooo bad!!!
now i find out there is 2 beta 4! now im happy!
cant wait for next beta with week 22 snapshot
great job!
go Isabella <3
@PizzaShark
I like your idea of the polished stone blocks. I'll have to think about how I want to handle it but I will give it a shot at some [email protected]
Go into the texture pack ZIP file, in the GUI folder, and delete allitems.png. It should revert it to the vanilla UI.
The GUI in the latest snapshot isn't the one that will be in the final release. And I rather not create a bunch of extra work for myself.
Drawing circles is hard. It's even harder on the iPad.
Anyways, I'm using an app called SketchClub. It was $2.99 and is pretty feature rich. I tried the free version of Sketchbook Pro but didn't quite jive with it. I also have a Jot Classic stylus which certainly helps.
I would like to do some hand-drawn art for the OP. As if Stephen is documenting this undiscovered world. But we'll see. I get bored and tired of doing the polishing on the drawings so they tend to be incomplete.

If the draw you did in your Ipad was incomplete... there is no problem!
I'm playing with your latest release in the week 22 snapshot as I cannot stand the default textures. So what if some things are invisible?
Speaking of invisible: the second-stage growth for Hemp in your Better Than Wolves textures (through the customizer) is completely invisible. Appears to be detected just fine by detector blocks and whatnot, but it's invisible

Fantastic. I appreciate your hard work!
I was playing with a new sketching app on my iPad and, well, here.
