the quartz item texture is actual the ore texture from the quartz with the whole middle colored. i do not plan on animating it. to me the material is more of a stone texture and thus not shiny. and truthfully I've never been happy with ANY of the quartz textures i just learned to deal with them. this update actually includes a new quartz texture for the base crafted block that I'm ok with the old one was well...... just **** if I'm honest.
but thank you for the feed back i will take it into consideration, i may redo the base ore texture but probably not animated.
the pack without a suffix is the default pack, basic is the default pack but the only animations are the ones used in the actual game boy game. and does not have as much MCPathcer support.
this is the setup i use in 1.7
this is the setup i use in 1.8
i personally do not use the basic pack it was actually made on request of a user who liked the pack but not all the excessive animations and MCPatcher things like CTM. CTI, etc
i am thinking about hosting multiple downloads such as a single big one with everything then each pack separately. i have always been a fan of just downloading the whole set at once and choosing what you want. its why i keep the alternate textures in the download. i suppose i could also make a detailed read-me file
Ever thought of changing sound effects too?
enemies in the game don't have idle sounds but they do have death and hit sounds for example.
actually there is a texture pack based off oracle of season. they changed every in game sound. at first i was like this is awesome but after playing with it for about 20 minutes i found it got really annoying. if you would like you could use that pack and put it at the bottom of the list and try it out for yourself
The Oracle of Seasons pack also has music but as far as I can tell, it's constant and can get annoying as well.
Maybe some like the door sounds and item pickup could be changed. These sounds are annoying if played a lot anyway (if a lot of villagers leave a house for example)
It's too bad certain music can't be played exclusively in certain biomes. Like the forest music could be played in swamps and jungles. Because the Nether music works so well because of this.
i tried to make each music type have a theme. like all the nether music is similar all the hal music is similar etc. but yeah i wish there was biome specific music that would have made my choices easier.
i plan on doing some sound effects later but right now im done with the pack for at least a week or 2 real life calls enjoy what is done for now sound wise.
the music pack is very much a WIP but yeah i put the cave music in overworld just in-case the timing ever worked out that it went off while you were mining. which it has for me. i think to get better overworld calm music i may need to look into the oracle games but i really try to stick to links awakening.
so do not get used to the music pack as is i kinda just threw it together in one night. i plan on changing a bunch of the songs and equalize all the audio so they are the same volume. but as i said before real life calls.
Hey there, I was just curious if there is a specific order the packs need to be loaded in to get everything working? I've been out of the Minecraft game for awhile, and I have forgotten how mods and resource packs actually work.(please don't hurt me!)

yes
this is the setup i use in 1.7
this is the setup i use in 1.8
the basic pack is like the one without a suffix but with less animations and all round better for low end pcs and feeling like the game boy game.
1.8.1 V2: minor tweaks and continuity fixes. And a few missing textures.
MAJOR NEW
Separated each pack into its own download. Alternate textures are only available if you download the collection pack which includes all pack variants and the full change log.
Links Awakening DX 1.7 : Basic plug and play pack for 1.7 includes Every Texture file in the game redone with textures from links awakening (and oracle games) and a bunch of MCPatcher functionality also has the formally required 1.7 Redstone pack files included making them unnecessary. This Pack will not be Updated after this point.
Links Awakening DX 1.8: basic plug and play pack for 1.8 includes EVERY TEXTURE FILE in the game redone with textures from links awakening (and the Oracle games) as well as custom 3D block models. No other packs required to get the full experience for 1.8 with MCPatcher not being updated yet I have removed its folder from this version of the pack as I’m not sure who the update will handle files from that point.
Links Awakening DX – Simple: (Formally Known as Basic) similar to the Links Awakening DX pack in the fact that every texture in game is there and it can be run on its own. Unlike the pack above it has little to MCPatcher functionality and there are hardly any animations, the ones that exist are the one pulled straight from links awakening. It is designed to feel more like the base game. Now includes custom 3D models.
The Previous 3 packs can be run on their own and have a full graphical experience. The following pack can be added to them as a bonus pack
Links Awakening DX – music: Includes music from links awakening. The pack is still very WIP with song choice suspect to change and audio balancing still iffy.
WHATS NEW?
Added the element to the villager UI that shows a trade is no longer applicable.
Added the UI files for server management that were missing.
Added custom icons for the custom world type pre-sets. They now better reflect what the world will look like in this texture pack.
Added the missing UI elements to spectator mod.
New variants of cows, pigs, and sheep added to alternate textures. New default sheep texture old ones in alternate.
WHATS CHANGED? AND WHY?
Changed the colouration on the fire in the furnace GUI to reflect the new fire animations
Changed the colouration of the fire particle that jumps out of lava periodically to match the new fire animation.
Added the old enchanting table UI to the 1.7 Redstone animations pack
Modified the iron armour leggings icon to better represent the worn leggings. The original was just a place holder.
Modified the worn iron legging to look a bit more uniform.
Modified the worn iron helmet to better represent the item texture.
Modified the worn iron boots to better represent the item form, likewise with the horse armour.
Modified both the iron and gold horse armour to work better with the model clipping issues to give a more cohesive texture.
Moved the endstone texture up by one pixel so it tiles better. Also adjusted portal frame to match
My only gripe (or not so much of a gripe, more of a I-Have-Zero-Idea-What-These-Are) is the items on the action bar. the potatos I understand should look similar, but why does an ender pearl (and also NOT an eye of ender) look like a potato? Are the eye of ender and ender pearl textures swapped on accident? What are they supposed to be? And what is the wheat? The wheat (without context) looks more like roots or cocoa pods. Sorry if this sounds mean it's not intended to sound rude I'm just bad at words.
well the texture xp ender pearls and potatoes use are the texture of the rock spat at you by octaraks. originally that texture was meant to be used only for ender peals but small circular objects are few and far between in links awakening and i did not feel like taking that much creative licensing and making a texture from scratch for those things. i figured there difference of colour would make them easily distinguishable as different items.
it was more of a lazy thing on my part. i tried to make the colour pallet match closely to the default minecraft one so the item would be recognizable. but now with tool tips that's not as much of a concern. the eye of ender is the eye texture from slime eyes using the purple colour pallet i use to represent ender or dark things in the pack (endermen, enderdragon, elder guardian.)
growing wheat was designed to look like the weeds growing in the swamp land in links awaking and thus the item looks like these weeds stacked.
TLDR; pearl, potatoes, exp are small rocks from links awakening. wheat is plant from swamp. textures are functioning as intended.
thank you for expressing your concerns i hope this cleared it up
Interesting! I appreciate the speedy response! I'm thinking about making a language file for my own usage (I like themed texture packs like this) so that's why I was curious as to what they are. Have you thought about making a language file for the resource pack?
It always brings a lot more immersion to me. You obviously are the maker of the resource pack so it's your opinion that matters, but for MY own usage, what would you name the potatos, ender pearls, and wheat if you had to?
well since i make this pack for my own personal use and upload for the hell out of it i would personally not rename anything. i strived to make as many of the textures recognizable to the base minecraft so if anyone else did use it they could still identify everything in the world. although as you pointed out some items are a bit misleading (damn you honey comb bread).
here is the thing I've used this pack for so long that i recognize some of the textures more from my pack than the default one. i started playing minecraft before compasses were a thing. I started this pack back when the nether was first announced, mind you it looked vastly different then.
I made an account on this forum just so I can thank you for making this texture pack.
Links awakening was one of the very first games I played in my childhood, and I loved it everything about it. When I found this texture pack I was so excited to see it I downloaded it right away, and fell in love with it. I thank you for bring my childhood into my Minecraft world.

Hey, great pack! I use it all the time, Link's Awakening is one of my favorite games.
I was wondering, though, if maybe the title card (Or whatever you'd call it, the Player Select) could be changed to the actual logo? And maybe the font could be changed? I was playing with the font, but it seems the letters from the ROM are a bit wide for Minecraft.
I've ripped both the logo, and the font, though the color palette doesn't correspond to the game.
anyway, here's the tiles, feel free to use them. (c) Nintendo and whatnot.
hope these helped, btw. If you need me to rip anything else, whether it be mods, updates, etc. just msg me.
but thank you for the feed back i will take it into consideration, i may redo the base ore texture but probably not animated.
Link's Awakening DX 1.8.1 V2 about 10 MB includes multiple versions
