I want to make my own texture pack, but I noticed how just about every other texture pack has a 'theme' to it; like industrial, natural, desert, tropical, cartoony, old timey, etc. but I can't think of a single idea for a theme to the pack. Anyone who has ideas please post and if I like it, I'll try to make it and post it. By the way, I'm not an expert at this, I've just played around with a few of the things I can do, so I've never made a real texture pack before, so this will be my first.
(Also, is there any free programs better than paint.net? That's what I will be using unless there's anything better than it lol)
The only theme I can think to give is something along the like of alien world. Not sure what you make of it, your idea of alien could be completely different than mine. But that's probably why it's a good suggestion-- if two different people did the pack, it could come out completely different.
Also, GIMP is a great image editor when you get the hang of it, and it really isn't that difficult to figure out, methinks.
I use a combination of paint.net and gimp... paint.net mostly for transparency as it handles it better.. plus they both have some very useful plugins if you can find them :tongue.gif:
If you've never made one before I would suggest putting it off until you think of an idea of your own/ get inspired by something. Making a good texture pack is a LOT harder than it might seem, and if you're just working off of someone else's idea and you're not really feeling it, then you'll probably lose interest even faster.

Handles the transparency better? How so?

Tis far better to be a witty fool than a foolish wit.

forgot the imo...I just prefer using the slider when I want to change the transparency of saved file instead of deleting the alpha channel
