I had originally said something that was totally off... but I still suggest moving the patcher to another location other than /documents and setting/etc... and see if it works
this: WARNING: could not determine original md5 sum
so far has only been an issue with unsupported characters in the directories/location.. why I suggested moving it
When i run the patcher for the first time it creates a file called "minecraft-1.5_01.jar" in my bin folder, and i still have the original minecraft.jar.
When i wanna install mods, i usually drag and drop the .class files into the minecraft.jar file. But which one do i put the .class files into? minecraft-1.5_01.jar or minecraft.jar?

If he just moves it to his downloads or documents folder, it should work fine.

Curse Premiumcheck about halfway down the original post on this thread for some options you might try before downgrading
edit: Kahr has been adding fixes to common problems as he/we figure them out to the op...which is awesome imo..
lb photo realism x256 looks pretty nice

This happens to me too, with the compass, clock, lava, water, probably portals, and with Balkon's Weapon mod. Mine's Gerudoku, too.
I've patched and unpatched and patched again with no noticeable change. I've also patched, unpatched, and repatched as an administrator.
Halp us please?
Edit;
I've also tried patching without custom animations and nothing seems to help. I'm on Vista, too, if that's of any help.
