This has probably been answered like a billion times in this thread but I can't find anything... sooo...
When I load up the texture pack and patch with mcpatcher 2.0.0 beta4 or 2.0.1, the compass looks weird. I used a fresh minecraft.jar, patched, put the texturepack in the folder, and played. The water and lava also looked messed up.
One question. You said in the FAQ that for 32bit OSes you should decrease or increase java heap size. If that's the case, to what value should i increase or decrease it from 1024 (current default value) for a 256 texture pack?
The game crashes with an out of memory error when I switch to a 256x texture pack, but other packs work fine.
A limitation of 32-bit OSes, but there are things you can try:
* In the options panel, decrease the Java heap size to 768. You may also try increasing it.
* Disable the texture cache. This will make switching packs slower, but it uses less memory.
* If you are running a 64-bit OS, download the 64-bit version of Java. For Windows it is available here.. The first few lines of the patcher log tell you what version of Java you are running.
Is what he said. If you are asking cause you tried 768, but want to know what increments to increase/decrease, you can use multiples of 256. I would stick with 768, 1024, 2048 as the general values and not worry about it passed these. Small increments on 256 or 512 one way or the other beyond those three base numbers will matter little. If one of those three doesn't work, then changing the number isn't gonna help.

Are you talking about the black lines?
You probably have Anti-Aliasing and/or Anisotropic Filtering enabled in your video card options (outside the game).
See if turning either or both of these off will help.

Okay, I figured this out. All you have to do is delete the bin folder. If this doesn't work, turn off your computer and turn it on again. Then delete it. Run Minecraft, everything will be fine and dandy.
Hi, when I put the HD Patcher 2.0.1, the LB Photo Realism texture pack, have a bug:
Sorry for my bad english, I'm italian! Thanks for help! :wink.gif:
I have tried to reinstall the game, but nother...
P.S. I have ATI TRAY TOOLS, but I'm not great with this program !
I have resolve :wink.gif:
Anisotropic settings for me need to be set as being Game Dependent in the Catalyst Control Center. Otherwise I get screw ups everywhere. ATI HD 4850. The rest of my settings are all maxed.
Just a point of clarification, I might be wrong...
This FIX is NECESSARY in order to use any HD texture pack correctly. ModLoader isn't. If there is some kind of compatibility issue with this FIX and any MOD, shouldn't the main thing be to talk to the other (unnecessary) MOD creator? I use other MODS too, but this isn't a luxury as far as I'm concerned, it's a must have. This, in my opinion, takes priority over any possible MOD.
There might be points I'm missing regarding code and whatnot, so please explain it to me civilly if I did. But it just seems logical to me that a necessary FIX is more important than having cooler toys or whatnot. This is part of the reason why having a MOD API is important...
And just a suggestion, with the exception of the BetterGrass portion, instead of (incorrectly) referring to MCPatcher as a MOD, please refer to it as a FIX, for that is precisely what it is doing: fixing a bug, like the old Biome-Colored Sidegrass FIX did.
(Excuse me if I sounded annoying, but I'm just frustrated that this still hasn't been fixed internally by Mojang)
I had seen that before Phantom :smile.gif: My frustration and disbelief remained unchanged, as does my resolve.
Yup
One of the more asinine things I've ever seen written. The whole cluster of (a few at most) people that think that way amaze me. Something that doesn't affect anyone who plays VanillaCraft, instead takes MC further than Vanilla would ever take it, isn't automatically supported like so any other games do with ease. Just amazes me. What's more amazing, is when they act like mods are any different. Just a different style of creativity. yet mods are starting to get incorporated...amazing I say.

In regards to the suggestion that i should increase the Java heap size, I did. And it worked. One time only... :sleep.gif: Now if i want to play minecraft with my l33t textures i have to unpatch then repatch minecraft to get it able to run those things again without crashing before sometimes after the mojang screen. I would appreciate it if someone could lighten my load on this subject so i can enjoy minecraft to its fullest again. Thank you.
Also the linux batch files and the regular -java batch file **** doesint work for me. Although one batch file i found instructions for did work, i was never able to find it again. I run a Vista Home Premium 32bit with Java 32bit.
Thanks for this fix guys, BUT just as suggestion you should check why when you patch the game (im on 1.5 and this is the first time that I patch it) it deletes your achievements and stats. This isn's big deal (FOR NOW) Sooo thanks keep up the good work
and also, i start MC, i get black screen. if i start but force update, it takes forever to redownload everything, my 32x32 texture pack has fire in the gold bricks and the water texture is null.
It's hard to tell because the file paths don't display fully, so I'll ask:
Are you trying to install the patch after other mods? It looks the way it would behave if trying to patch a modded version of the game.
Back up your saves (and texture packs), delete your /bin and /texturepacks folders, run the game and let it update. Then run the patcher again. See if that helps.
And please stop abusing smilies - it clutters up the page and makes it harder to identify real issues. You wouldn't like it if your post was overlooked because someone else did that, would you? :wink.gif:

Yeah, that's why I generally stick to 64x. I've seen some beautiful packs in higher resolutions but they look too noisy from afar. I'd dare to say that the hand-painted 128x packs like BorderCraft look better than the photo-realistic ones, at that resolution.

i think that less noisy hd packs with clear lines look great, though.
