I have a question about xau's patcher, How can I use the water/lava that's present without the patch. Cause I wanted to make custom lava but it's no transparent, Is there a way to fix this?
After Installing Misa's latest texture pack, I make sure that both options are checked, And then I click patch.
Then I go into the game, select misa's texture pack, then load the game.
The textures look fine.
I play for awhile and all of the sudden, the game screen will go black.......
This will happen over and over again after a certain amount of time.
It doesn't even give an error.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Perhaps try running the game with a batch file.
That forces it to display an error message.
Here's a batch file I use to launch in 512 MB mode, and will use if I end up actually getting an error I can't fix on my own:
Never mind guys it got fixed! It was just my human error, you see each time when I started MCPatcher There was a bar at the bottom and I thought that I got patched so I chose the HD texture pack in the Test mode but IT WAS NOT PATCHED!
I quote this for the users that say the texture packs remain grayed out after patching. Not quoting it to say Poo Poo was dumb, or that anyone else is dumb. It's actually not a dumb thing to think it was patched because you see a status bar advancing at the bottom of the patcher when you double click it and it's loading.
Just make sure you click the "patch" button.
Again...not calling anyone dumb. I figured it out fast, but remember thinking the same thing when I first used the new patcher.
But other than the way the pack(s) are packaged, or what I posted above (or any other human type error), I can't think of why it wouldn't work.
Hmm I guess I'll have to live without texture packs for a while then cause I did patch it unless there was an error that i didn't see or something thanks anyways though.
I'd recommend updating Java to the 64-bit version if you are on Windows 7. But increasing the heap size is a good idea too, if you've got the RAM for it.
You don't need a batch file, you can just set the heap size on the Options tab of the patcher and run it again. That should do the trick. Don't go too high, though - you want to leave RAMN to spare for the textures, other processes etc.
I've got 4 GB of RAM and I set my heap to 1024 (1 GB). After upgrading to 64-bit Java, I have not had a black screen since.

I might add that the black screen aren't necessarily the patcher's fault. Plenty of people I play with, that do not use packs, have black screens. Depending on the version of MC, different people would crash/black screen all the time. Then MC would get an update, and they would stop.

"This may hurt a little, but it's something you'll get used to...."
Generally, the black screen issue happens when Java runs out of memory. On a 64-bit OS with 32-bit Java, that's an inevitable eventuality. So upgrading to 64-bit Java should fix it, and increasing the heap doesn't hurt.

The crashes seem to occur more often only after I install the MCpatcher.
I tried contacting misa, but misa just told me to update the java....... I tried that too.

I was gonna say this to ya Redbulldog....helped me quite a bit. I increased to 2048 and never had a black screen.

Thanks for getting to my post so quickly! :smile.gif:
I will report back to the forum if it crashes after 2 hours or so.

It's been about two hours and it still works!
If it works for the rest of the night i'll report back.
My compass, and water are messed up on 32x. :< I Googled it and the 1.3 version fixed it or something. viewtopic.php?t=46173
LATEST UPDATE:
1.1.12_02 - fixed compass
1.1.12_01 - beta 1.3 support, compass (and more?) is screwed up
I don't think it's a conflicting mod or whatever, cause I started with a fresh minecraft.jar. I patched it and applied the TP but it was all weird and stuffs. When I don't patch it, it looks fine but the pointer is missing. When I press F3 after I patch it, the compass looks fine, but there's blackness surrounding it.

I'm kind of a newbie to the actual minecraft program files, so....... what's a batch file?
And what do you mean by 512 MB mode?
Batch file: Executable file with the .bat extension. Written in command prompt commands.
512 MB mode: Runs the game with less RAM, because apparently, while java defaults to having 1gigabyte of RAM, Minecraft actually lags if you give it more than 512 Megabytes. (Megabytes are smaller than Gigabytes) If you need more help, I will tell you how to make a batch file.

Are you SURE you're actually USING the 2.0 patch?
You have to actually hit the "Patch" button - it's a common misconception that the loading progress bar is the patch progress bar.
Just asking because it sounds like the sort of issue that happens when it's improperly patched.

It works on the DL clinet yeah... Question though. My DL client randomly closes on me....even before the patcher, any idea why?
