Hello there, i'm using mcpatcher 1.8.7 and connected textures are not working. The doesn't even show up in the patch menu. I've read through the main post several times and cant find anything about this. Help would be greatly appreciated. I've also been gone for a year or 2, so i'm really out of the loop, sorry about that.
Dumb question, will MCPatcher 5.0.3 be of any use in 1.9? Or should I just patiently be waiting for an update? Since I really don't grok what MCPatcher is doing to the game under the hood, I don't want to mess up a world because I was impatient about random moves and connected glass.

The game will just crash before you have a chance to load up a world. Don't worry about that.
But no, until Kahr releases a proper 1.9 version MCPatcher will almost certainly NOT work. By all rights it shouldn't even let you install the mods in order to get as far as crashing. It should just have them all grayed out and not let you do anything to mess up your game.
Thank you! I play straight vanilla other than Misa's and Les's add-on resource packs, so I'm not very worried about mods, but I would imagine I'm the exception rather than the rule for those waiting for a new MCPatcher. Regardless, I will be patient.
Everything in the Mods tab is greyed out and un-selectable for me too, but I clicked the Patch button anyway. Running the game with the generated McPatcher profile works fine without game crashes. Maybe the random textures and HD sky in the resource pack also work without McPatcher? I'll have to test that.

Random textures are part of Vanilla now (using blockstates and models), the pack you're using doesn't contain any MCPatcher features at the moment as none of the snapshots could be patched, I'm waiting for MCPatcher and Optifine to be updated to 1.9 before I test and add CTM, Custom colours etc...again.
Also slightly off topic, I've released a 1.9.0 version of the John Smith Legacy pack with lots of new stuff.

OK, good to know. I guess I don't actually need McPatcher anymore then. The only part of CTM I ever used was random textures and if the better skies mod isn't needed, well...
So I haven't played Minecraft in forever, and I wanna play a bit of Beta 1.7.3. I've been trying to patch it to make 32x32 texture packs work, but I'm not having much luck, haha. Since they've replaced texture packs with resource packs, and the old launcher that creates a bin and such doesn't work I've ended up here trying the latest version, which seems to recognize a b1.7.3 jar in the .minecraft folder at least, but my problem is the mods are all greyed out, so patching does nothing. Is there a know reason for this? I would really appreciate any help!
Here's a screenshot of what it looks like:
I have a texture pack in the texture pack folder, which I accessed through the options button in the client, if that matters. Thanks in advance

I may have. Wouldn't the same old versions of the launcher, MCPatcher and mods that run with 1.7.10 work with beta 1.7.3, or at least be closer than the current versions?
The beta versions of Minecraft are from before Minecraft 1.0... Minecraft Beta 1.7.3 was released way back on July 8, 2011.
The more accurate reply to Nico though, is that Kahr hasn't logged in to this site since June 5th and the source code repository hasn't been updated since then as well. McPatcher is dead, currently... the only option for some of these texture pack mods now is Optifine and there is no help for older versions of McPatcher.
The source code it available for someone to branch and update, however. I kind of hope someone does, but I'm pretty happy with the texture pack options that have been available in vanilla Minecraft since 1.8.
Thanks for the clarification about the beta numbering. Sorry about the confusion. Too bad about MCPatcher languishing. The latest MCPatcher doesn't support all the features of the older MCPatcher and Optifine doesn't either. I hope MCPatcher is eventually updated, or that Optifine adds all the features that the older MCPatcher had.
Does anyone know of a way to use BetterGlass type effects (translucent render passes) in 1.8? I used renderPass=3 in previous versions of MCPatcher with 1.7.10 to make translucent glass. The new CTM/renderPass properties template mentions the renderPass numbers have changed to specific names, like 'overlay', but using them in MCPatcher 503 or Optifine doesn't appear to work. We're in the process of updating our texture pack from 1.7 to 1.8+ but are loosing all the translucency effects we used on glass, fire, wood + iron doors, etc.
Come on. "Updated to 1.8.4. Note: Some features such as Better Glass are not yet implemented in 1.8." is on the first post of the first page of this thread. And as for OptiFine, OptiFine doesn't yet have it implemented either I think.
Right, that's why I asked. Is there an independent mod or some other way that may have the same renderPass ability that anyone knows of? I've searched and haven't found anything yet. I was asking if there was any other way to get similar effects in Minecraft 1.8 (because MCPatcher and Optifine don't have it implemented as of yet).

Curse PremiumI used MCPatcher 5.0.3 on 1.9 and it works just fine. I haven't had the game crash at all, and I'm seeing CTM and better sky texture effects as usual.
I'm using the "John Smith Legacy JSC 16w05b" resource pack.

ModeratorInteresting. I just checked and for me everything is grayed out. I also tried force patching and nothing was installed.
Did you use a different method than normal? If so, care to tell us about it?

Curse PremiumOK, good to know. I guess I don't actually need McPatcher anymore then.
I think the new MC patcher doesnt work with the old launcher. Try runing an older version of optifine.
I've posted a thread with Step-by-step Instructions on How-to Install MCPatcher with Shaders Mod & Forge for MC 1.7.10 so that we could use Shaders Mod with MCPatcher to take full advantage of our texture pack: Sensei & Son HD128 Minecraft Texture Pack which works best with MCPatcher rather than Optifine. We had to use older versions of MCPatcher, etc. The steps are for Mac OS X, but you probably have to use similarly older versions on Windows.

Hi all, I've been trying to get CIT to work. I followed the wiki and made this:
However, it does not work properly. The texture is in the same directory as the file, which is in mcpatcher/cit/guns.
What did I do wrong?
